Te Mahia Bay Resort

The location and the view from the unit is such breathtaking. Owner Trevor is really friendly and happy to help out to make the stay comfortable.

Spacious, clean and comfortable unit with full view of bay, kitchen for home-cooked meals as there weren't options for dining out. Easy unloading from car. Close to "Lookout Track" which offered magnificent views.

Online communication was sparse, but very good in person. There was roadwork on during our stay so travel times were restricted and plans were a little uncertain.

Location, location, location, large sized room with amazing views, friendly hosts and staff making you feel welcome.

Will be better when the access roadworks are completed making it easy to enter or leave the property without arranging a time.

Lovely little hotel in a beautiful bay, with warm and welcoming family making you feel at home straight away. Perfect to rekax and explore this part of the marlborough sounds.

Nothing really

The rooms and situation were great. The dinner was lovely and delivered to our rooms.

The only minor annoyance was quite a lot of noise from guests upstairs.

The wifi did not work for us, but that did not have an impact on our visit. Apparently it can be unstable and the owners were up front about it. The food was ok but pricey for what you get. They did not have to provide either though, so it was a big bonus that they offered it to us.

The weather, which is not anyone's fault.

There's lots to do at Te Mahia - hiking, kayaking, swimming - but it's tempting just to lounge on the deck or stroll along the beach and enjoy the beautiful bay. On a clear night the dark sky is amazing - great view of the Milky Way.The apartment is in an old house, rather quirky, with many thoughtful touches - flowers in the room, plenty of towels, beautiful quilts and throws. The kitchen is very well equipped.

Stunning location. Very friendly and helpful staff. The owners cooked us an excellent family meal for 13.

Exceptional stay at Te Mahia Bay Resort, our last stop on the Queen Charlotte track. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and hospitable. The location is stunning - a beautiful bay for swimming and water activities. We had a delicious meal at the Tinker’s Kitchen - I really enjoyed the fresh terakihi fish and chips.

It really is a retreat - way off the beaten track (although it is accessible by road, unlike many Marlbourough Sound places). Lovely location on a sound, kayaking, walking, paddleboarding all possible. So relaxed guests don't even need room keys

Stunning location at the Kenepuru Sound. Kajaks for hire. Friendly staff. Bbq place outside under the palm trees and a possibility to eat in the restaurant.

Small living room in the appartment for 5 people, but there were appartments with more space. Some things need an update - but nice to feel the history of the building (pictures in the hall etc.)

Large room with good facilities

Not recommended for walkers doing the Queen Charlotte Track. Access from the track is down a steep, narrow and sometimes dangerous road. The resort does not offer any service back up the road to return to the track. Walkers are better to skip Te Mahia Bay and continue on to Anakiwa. The track after Te Mahia Bay is quite easy and the walk from Portage to Anakiwa can easily be done in one day.

We absolutely loved the Resort. So peaceful and relaxed. Accommodation was great and roomy. All staff were exceedingly helpful and friendly. Would love a return visit.

Te Mahia Bay Resort far exceeded my expectations. The accommodation was roomy and super comfortable, the dinner choices were just right and the staff couldn't have been more helpful.

Beautiful, large, well equipped unit looking straight out to The Sounds. Pre- booked a lovely meal and really good local wine.

The bay is like a Paradise. The apartment is huge, fully equipped, you'll miss nothing from there. You'll need to go there with watertaxi, fast, not cheap but worth it. Trevor and Jann so lovely and helpful in everything, kayak, SUP, they have a street food truck also if you want dinner there, but you could grill yourself also. Nice cakes, coffees and small grocery also available there. Highly recommend to escape for a while from towns. The pictures are random, I could upload like 100 ?

Great place to go to after hopping off ferry. Nice people, location, fis and chips!
