    • The location was great - wonderful to take a walk on the cliffs behind the hotel. The breakfast was delicious!
    • the disconection to daily life , in a little corner of the North Sealand region. close to nature, the ocean. amazing. The place has a beautiful fireplace. and a very small humble spa. just enough to relax. there is a restaurant there, the food is good and breakfast good as well. I recomend it to relax and unplug from the world. Gilleleje is just 1.7 km (20 mins walk) through a sweet beautiful path.
    • The hotel is right out to the sea and invites to relax time with long walks. It is the second time we stay here. It is so cozy and authentic to its style. The personeel is very friendly and service minded.

    Cons -

    • 300 kroner for our little dog who didn't have any accidents was a little steep.
    • Breakfast staff very clearly understaffed. Had to wait long time for cleaning tables, food was cold, coffee took long time to arrive, Buffet not filled up, eggs over or under cooked and cold. Simply not good enough that it does not work.
    • No telephone in the rooms to contact with reception

    View from room

Room was not ready although we arrived 2 hrs after check-in. Room not vacuumed. Tiny bathroom that filled with water during a shower. No space in bathroom to hang robes or bath towels. Clunky room key.

Beautiful location, nice restaurant, coffee station and quiet area.

Lighting in the bathroom is too dark, and no other mirrors in the room

Wonderfully calm and relaxing. Staff were superb and friendly and helpful. Stunning location. No televisions and relaxing music.

Nothing - it was simply perfect

    The Worst Ever!!!

Hotel was notified early morning that I would not be arriving until 11pm earliest. Was told that wouldn’t be a problem. Arrived 11:20pm and place was locked up - no night porter, no key-box, phone went to voicemail. Result was a cold uncomfortable night spent in the car!!!

Super clean. Comfortable. Well appointed. Beautiful location. Quiet. Great service.

    Checkout could have been later

The room was plain, with a comfortable bed, heating was working and there was a TV as well. The main building includes a lovely reception area with a fireplace, bookshelves and bar, and the dining/breakfast area is decorated very tastefully and brings a relaxed vibe. The breakfast is much improved compared to what I've seen in previous reviews: they have delicious fresh baked bread, and a selection of fruit, cold cuts as well as warm breakfast dishes - pancakes and sausages were the highlight of the latter. Coffee is freshly prepared for each table, and you have the option for tea and other accomodations. The breakfast staff was very kind when we asked for a pot of tea to bring into the room, which they arranged on a tray for us. A welcome gesture. The hotel is located in between a beach/cliffs area and a forest with other vacation houses, which makes it great for a stroll around in the morning or after dinner. The nearby town is easily reachable by car or on foot.We did not spend much time in the spa facility but the booking process with reception worked smoothly, we called ahead and had good communication on arranging a time with the staff.

Unfortunately the hotel has not been carefully renovated - a missed opportunity to focus on the quaintness of this place, and perhaps keep some of the old paintings/decorations in the rooms, which would have added it some charm. Of the room renovation, only the main room is painted over, and has comfortable beds; the rest of the furniture (two armchairs) cramped the room and does not give it much style. The light switches had some sort of grease/oil dripping onto the walls below them, which gave them a very dirty look. Moreover, the wardrobe area is tiny and the only shelf is too high up to reach. The bathrooms are a dissapointment, there are two, split between a small room with toilet/ sink and another with shower/sink. Both have an old linoleum floor, old sinks and a showerhead which was constantly dripping, creating an unpleasant smell and moreover are rusty & full of calcium deposits. This is comparable to old Danish school dorms, which is not something we were expecting in a spa hotel (or any hotel!). It is possible to take a shower and the water works, but you would almost rather not. Moreover, the view from the room is not as advertised, rather it was facing another nearby building. The spa was unfortunately the reason we booked this hotel, but after experiencing it on the first day we did not return the other days, and cannot recommend it for a relaxation package. The massage treatment we booked did not meet our expectations: the massage therapist was very kind and skilled, however the room itself was freezing, and there was not much of a relaxing atmosphere (no relaxing music, and we could hear others loudly talking and laughing in the nearby sauna). We did not visit the sauna or the rest of the spa; it seemed quite a lively sauna room, but the entire area is rather small so when it gets crowded (over 3-4 visitors) it feels a little awkward. The whole spa is in a basement and has no windows, so there is no opportunity for a sea view.

The fact that there was free parking and Sauna and steam bath freely available. Near shops and the beach. Quiet area. Safe area.

No phone, television or wifi access in the room we stayed in. Walls were dirty. Room cramped and shower and toilet extremely small. Had to pay DKK85 for a bathrobe. The breakfast and dinner was average. No water or coffee available in the room. Free coffee was served between 15h00-16h30 only and at breakfast. Jacuzzi had to be booked and they never contacted us for any cancellations. Room wasnt cleaned, only the towels were replaced. Plug fitting in the room was loose.

True Hygge! Especially the fireplace in the reception, which made the evening drink even more exceptional! We had a nice tasty dinner and great service!

There could be bathrobes for spa for the price we payed, the spa was nice, but nothing special, we didn’t know that we need to pre-book massage so we sadly didn’t get it.

Amazing location with a lovely scenic walk along the coast into the village. Peaceful scenic area and nice town. A nice quiet spot it was relaxing.

Hotel room facilities could have been better standard. Wasn't keen on the walk in wet room / shower. There was nowhere to hang any towels and very little shelf space. After showering you were literally walking out into the bedroom again on to carpet leaving the floor really wet. Not ideal.

Will definitely go here again! Super friendly staff, great breakfast and room was lovely!!!

Sauna was too hot, there was no way to regulate it.

    10IsabelPosted on: 7-23-2023

We loved the room, the proximity to the sea, the town itself, the hotel breakfast and the decor. Dinner waa also exceptional.

We'd have liked a little more air and light in our room. Our shower was also not great at draining away.

Fantastic location, perfect for coastal walk down to the town. Very scenic and beautiful, peaceful and relaxing.

Breakfast was average, would have liked more 'main' choices such as bacon. The scrambled egg was luke warm each day. Our double bedroom was comfortable but would have liked some general facilities such as tea and coffee making in the room. We also had a night in one of the cabins (bungalow) which was in a lovely spot overlooking a lake. Both rooms lacked a few basics such as places to hang towels in the bathrooms. Could not fault the location it was spot on.

    5KristbjorgPosted on: 7-22-2023

The spa was poor and therefore the name of the hotel ended up beeing confusing. The beds were to soft.

    The old hotel was beautiful.

    8LucilePosted on: 7-18-2023

The hotel is very charming with a lovely atmosphere. It is located on top of the hill overlooking the sea. The personnel was very welcoming and the room comfortable.

I was expecting a little more from the spa area. It is very cosy but quite small. We couldn’t get the Turkish bath to heat up when we were there so we could only use the sauna and steam bath, which felt a bit limited since the spa was one of the main reasons for choosing this hotel. Good experience nonetheless.

Nice setting overlooking the sea.Friendly staff

Bedrooms so hot and stuffy - no air con in the hotel. Bedrooms so basic - not even a drawer to put clothes in only one shelf too high for me to reach. No bottled water in the roomBedroom looked into rooms opposite
