About
Locanda dei Baroni is a welcoming old inn dating back to 1100. It is set right in the middle of the Casentino Forest National Park and opposite the Camaldoli Monastery. Once inhabited by monks, this historic residence has been run by the Baroni family. Expect traditional hospitality, friendly service and a truly peaceful atmosphere. Overlooking the forest, all rooms are decorated in a traditional Tuscan style including antique furniture, original ceilings and wood floors. To keep the atmosphere simple and relaxing, the property does not provide a telephone or a TV in rooms. Locanda dei Baroni also has its own gardens, a bar and a restaurant with terrace. Enjoy delicious Tuscan specialties and views of the forest. Breakfast is served in the Café del Parco bar, next to the property. The property is ideal for exploring the 35 000 hectares of forest here. Follow the paths which lead from the hotel into the woods on foot, by bike or on horseback. Bikes can be rented on site.

Cons -
- Maintenance of the room was very disappointing: bathroom door was broken and could not be closed, no bidet in the bathroom, shower pipe was broken, window did not close well, light in the room was very dim, furniture was shabby. Staff was not very friendly. I had booked a separate beds, I god a queen bed instead.

it is a little tired and old but that did not neglect from the comfort.
A cosy hotel up in the hills with really friendly helpful staff!
We liked everything about the property. The staff was exceptional, especially Laura who went overboard to help us with all requests. She is a real asset to the property.
Room very cold at night
A beautiful place, a comfortable bed, stylish furniture, a really good breakfast. For pilgrims is better to have a halfboard for 50 euros a person. I don’ t understand such a low rating, because the place is really great!
Well located, comfortable and clean. Had a lovely meal. Excellent staff too.
Staff were friendly and the food excellent. Location was good for the mountains and national park.
We were delayed at the airport and arrived an hour later than the estimated time we gave when booking. We had had an email advising that the kitchens closed at 21.00 hrs. On arriving at about 21.15, we found the hotel completely locked up and no staff present! We had no mobile coverage, so banged loudly on the doors for 10 minutes. Eventually, a Canadian guest opened an upstairs window and asked what the problem was. He came down and unlocked the door, and we just helped ourselves to a room key!Next morning we told the staff of our problem, and they said they had tried to phone us, but no answer. We had no missed calls on the mobile, but when we got back to the UK, found a missed call on the home phone at 20.50 from that evening. Why were we not told the hotel would be locked up after 21.00, as it wasn't mentioned in any of their emails. If they had warned us, we could have phoned earlier to advise that we might be a little late. Not a good start to our holiday!
Great location, wonderful room overlooking the road, restaurant and great views of the valley. Loved the room lots of character and charm. Wish I could have stayed there longer. Will definitely ome back.
Beautiful, historic building in a wonderful location, with hikes and a river on the doorstep. Great food and friendly owners. Perfect peace and darkness at night.
Convenient, clean, great staff that went out of their way to make it a great stay.Wonderful restaurant
The staff is very friendly, the room was confortable and clean, the food was exeptional
Location
Staff seemed exhausted and un inclined to be friendly at end of season. I suspect employment conditions were not good. This was a pity as the place was wonderfully old fashioned and atmospheric.
Beautifully restored old house on the edge of town. Delightful host who was polite, helpful ,very proffesional and clearly took great pride in his work. Excellent breakfast presented with style.
Beautiful place to stay on Camino.
Restaurant was very expensive - 11€ for bowl of soup!Communication was difficult and posed problems for us. Recommend learning Italian (and we should have!)
Locando Dei Baroni was a welcoming place with delicious food. While the weather was not great for our stay, we had a wonderful time. Our hike up to the Eremo and our visit to Bibbiena were highlights.
Booking. com's emails were a bit confusing and repetitive.
the personnel was outstanding, extremely kind and friendly. The breakfast was excellent, with all local products. To visit the Camaldoli monastery and the "eremo" (hermitage) the location is perfect. Also plenty of trekking paths in the forest.
