The hotel is much larger than it appears in the photo. It is a superb, very high end hotel at an exceptionally reasonable rates. The hotel rooms are very well furnished, clean and enjoyable with delightful views of the grounds.

The property of the hotel¿it has beautiful garden, trees, ponds, walk ways. The room was clean, service, pool, spa, incredible breakfast-everything was fantastic. We had dinner at the hotel and the food was excellent and the service was impeccable.

We greatly appreciated the friendly and helpful staff and it was very memorable to stay at this beautiful, historic hotel. The gardens were lovely and romantic, and the pool was perfect for relaxing after a busy day of sightseeing. The room was very clean and comfortable and we enjoyed a nice breakfast each morning.

Breakfast was delicious. The room was nice, and the two restaurants on premise were also quite nice.

Truly an exceptional experience. The room, the facilities and the grounds were all superb. The staff were the friendliest I've ever encountered. Each encounter exceeded our expectations, everyone going the extra mile to be friendly and helpful. The restaurant where we ate breakfast and lunch was excellent. I definitely plan to come back the next time we're in Portugal.

Lovely 700 year old palace with wonderful history, beautiful grounds, great formal restaurant. Our second stay -- highly recommended.

It was quiet and spotlessly clean. The room was small, but very well furnished with extras like a coffee maker, a refrigerator, and popcorn and an air popper. There was also a small balcony overlooking the town square.

We were not able to take advantage of all of the amenities. Location required cab or Uber reuse to do anything off property.

This is a hidden gem, close to the city but enclosed in an amazing garden setting. The breakfast was great and our rooms were spacious. It was especially nice to have a bathtub in our room. We enjoyed eating in the bar for a lighter fare and more casual setting. The valet parking worked perfectly.

We had a weird snafu when we tried to split the bill for our dinner. Still not sure if it was accidental or intentional, but we were almost grossly overcharged. We stayed over a Saturday night and there was a wedding onsite that had loud music until around 3:00 am (seriously). Even though the wedding site was not next to our rooms, we could hear it.

Spa was not great, old fashioned, no direct exit to the yard. Spa gets-6 out of 10

The breakfast was exceptional. Everything was fresh from the pastries to the fruit. We enjoyed the omelette station, too. Service throughout the hotel was spot on. Everyone was friendly and efficient and couldn't have been more helpful. The property itself is a unique and historic palace with so many original furnishings. We loved the outdoor pool. It was large enough to swim laps and very relaxing. We weren't able to try out the restaurant for dinner or the spa. Our only regret was not being able to extend our stay another night since the hotel was full. We also thought this was a very moderate price for the quality of the hotel. We would not hesitate to return.

We can't think of anything that needed improvement.

The history, the gardens, the staff, the rooms (in the new wing), the access by car and easy parking.

The restaurant options for dinner were very expensive, large meals although I discovered at the property that they do less formal meals in the bar. But by then we had booked dinner elsewhere.

From the minute we arrived from a long drive the team at the hotel made us feel relaxed and welcome. We’d been travelling for a few weeks so it was lovely to feel pampered.

It was pretty perfect but the Spa was run by one woman… bookings, reception and treatments ….so no time for special teas etc afterwards.

the night lamp contact and the contact to charge your phone next to the bed , it is switched off with the general light. That was little uncomfortable .
