Hotel Mondego

Location and Staff. Take the green bus from the train station (Coimbra-B). It?s free and drops you off directly in front of this hotel. Amazing. 15 minute walk to the university. Lots of restaurants and cafes near by. Staff were charming.

We were so happy that we picked the Hotel Montego. It is conveniently located and updated. Above all, the staff was excellent; we were treated like royalty! I can't recommend it more highly. If you go to Coimbra, stay here!

The hotel was excellent.It was very clean, with spacious rooms and large, very comfortable beds.We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel — everything was great.

The only thing worth noting is the parking situation. Although parking is listed as available, it actually refers to a limited number of street parking spots outside the hotel, and it’s not entirely clear whether they officially belong to the hotel. At first, we had to park in a paid parking lot a bit further away until a street spot became available.

The shower door wasn’t designed to shut completely. It was a little uncomfortable.

Air conditioner never cooled the room down, the fan in the bathroom was loud and couldn't be turned off and the shower leaked all over the floor

At Hotel Montego we had a comfortable room and a good sized breakfast. The room was of average size and had a small balcony. It's located near the river as well as a good number of restaurants. I would recommend this hotel, especially if you do not have a car.

Parking was a problem. There were a few places right outside the hotel. These spaces were technically public parking and free because the parking meter didn't work. The public parking garage down the street was fine, but it was expensive.

We didn't like the fact that when we booked the hotel in the description there is the tag that parking is available. However the hotel doesn't offer parking, there is public parking in the neighborhood but hard to find a spot due to its location. This can be misleading for people who are looking for a hotel with parking available.

Location is perfect for exploring the old town and provides easy access to the University plus botanical gardens. Hotel is clean. Good variety of food for breakfast.

Parking is a challenge. Best to drop off luggage before parking your vehicle as it can be difficult to find parking. There is some availability at public parking sites but be prepared to walk at least 100 m

Location was good and breakfast was solid. However would not recommend to stay here because of the strong sewer smell overwhelmed the room even after flushing the toilet several times and opening up the windows to try to dissipate the bad odor.
