- If you have any interest at all in the history of Monte Cassino during WW2 you must stay here. Pino, the owner is a gentleman and a scholar and the perfect host. He must surely know more about the Monte Cassino campaigns than anyone else alive. He has turned an interest, unobtrusively, into a museum, a library and an amazing archive. The hotel and rooms are super comfortable and spacious. We had a huge balcony with incredible views of the hilltop monastery. All staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is excellent with good restaurants nearby. Breakfast offered great and filling choices. We are cycle-touring and the team found us a secure, safe place to keep our bikes.I knew that my father had been at Monte Cassino but knew very little else. Pino researched over night and in the morning told me exactly where my father would have been and showed me on a map exactly where. He then pointed me to some detailed accounts of what happened in May 1944 and i have finally learned so much mote about my Dad. It was very moving and I cannot thank Pino enough
- Convenient location. Friendly staff. Very clean. Good breakfast. Lots of WW II memorabilia.
Cons -
- Nothing. All 100% good
- No kettle and fridge in the room.

No kettle and fridge in the room.
I booked this hotel for my uncle, and it turned out to be excellent value for the money. The place was spotless, the breakfast was decent, and the staff were exceptionally kind and attentive—especially the girl with red hair and Pino, who went above and beyond to ensure a great stay. Highly recommended!
Pino was a great host and knowledgeable about all things pertaining to the battle of Monte Cassino. Rooms were clean and functional. A good breakfast
We choose a room with abbey viewWe liked the museum collectionWe liked the breakfast And we especially like the red poppy tour by Pino
Nothing to dislike
The host and manager was extremely helpful and did everything possible to ensure our stay was enjoyable. The Cassino tour re the war was well done
No kettle in room
If anyone is planning to visit Cassino with regards to visiting the WW11 battle sites and the Monastery then this is the hotel for you. The hotel is like a museum concerning the Battle of Monte Cassino and the owner PINO is so knowledgeable and very helpful and friendly with any questions or issues that you put to him.The breakfast was excellent to set you up for your visit to the town. My wife and I will stay at this hotel again if we visit Cassino again in the future.
Nothing that I can really complain about⁷
Cheap thanks to off peak pricing
Shabby hotel, you can hear the other guests as if sharing the same room - can be entertaining but in my case it was over the top and mostly prevented me from sleeping.
We went to Cassino because of a family connection to the battle for Montecassino and this hotel was the perfect place to stay. As others have also said, the host, Pino Valente, is extremely knowledgeable and generous with his time and knowledge. We learned so much in the 2 days (3 nights) we spent there. I should also add that the breakfast was abundant and delicious. All the other staff were also very cheerful and welcoming.
Space , hot shower and displays
No tea coffee facility in room
If you have an interest in ww2 then this is the place to stay the host is a font of knowledge helped us on our walk to the monastery even though he runs tours himself very helpful indeed.
Fabulous location with great view of the Abbey. We were staying as part of a journey to retrace father’s history fighting in battle of Montecassino. Breakfast was wonderful. Quirky hotel with lots of memorabilia from the war. Secure parking for our motorcycle. Close to town, so easy to find food and drink.
Room decor was a little run down and tired. A kettle in the room would be nice.
The place has a reception like a museum of the second world war battle of Monte Cassino.Good vintage furniture.
Breakfast is almost all sweets. Some more variation on veggies and protein would be nice.
Good hotel as for 3*Nice personelGood breakfastGood location
The hotel reminds on second works war. I thought fashism is something not to be proud of.
great hotel with lots of war memorabilia around. breakfast excellent. staff booked us into a restaurant after we arrived. first class.
Position, walking distance from the center Size of the room/toilet
Room (1st floor) very close to the main street; during the night some car noise can disturb
Great place to stay & especially if you are here to explore & find information about family members involved in WW2..Everybody was so friendly & helpful. We sincerely thank you for your help.Location is easy for walking to town centre, bus to the Abbey & the Commonwealth cemetary .
Location is great with fantastic views of Monte Cassino and the AbbeyStaff are great, friendly and helpful
Nothing really
The most charming place to stay in Monte Cassino. Pino the owner has dedicated himself to promoting a better understanding of the war time history of the town and actively promoting reconciliation and educating local school children. The hotel is a museum ensuring historically important artefacts are displayed and more importantly explained. Do visit Pino and support his great work as part of your stay.
