    Pros +

    • Chateau St. Gilles is located just outside of the charming town of Bayeux. The hotel is amazing! Beautiful rooms, peaceful grounds, lovely swimming pool and a delicious restaurant. Very easy to get to from the train station and into town. Our kids were welcomed and enjoyed the space to enjoy the fresh air!
    • A great stay at our favorite Chateau in Normandy
    • The rooms, service in the restaurant and quality of options for breakfast.

    Cons -

    • Nothing, it was perfect.
    • I wish the dryer for the self service laundry would work properly, it only runs for five minutes so once you wash clothes it’s almost impossible to dry them.
    • Quicker check in and availability of the spa facilities

Beds - new and very comfortable. Rooms and bathroom REALLY nice. Breakfast was great. Staff excellent@

Beautiful place. Conveniently located for day trips to D-Day beaches and, if you don't mind a little extra drive, Mont Saint Michal. Excellent staff, clean rooms, nice on-site restaurant. The hotel is in a peaceful setting but very accessible to Bayeux and the surronding area. Town of Bayeux was very charming...nice restaurants, great atmosphere, beautiful architect, etc. We initially reserved this hotel for one night but ended up staying an additional two nights.

There is no on-site work out facility. However, given the remote setting, it is very easy to get out for long walks/runs.

Beautiful chateau property, serene, country setting was peaceful. Loved all the foliage, the horses, sheep, and cows on property. Very good breakfast, the kind staff works everything from front desk to bar to restaurant. Enjoyed the spa, had excellent massages, pool and hot tub were also great. The restaurant is also excellent for dinner. We ate there three nights in a row.

I would suggest not to use the onsite washer and dryer as the dryer did not work. There is a laundromat in town that is convenient and simple to use.

Great location. Very quiet and perfectly maintained site. Renovated room in adjacent building. The staff is welcoming and the facilities are modern. Breakfast is very good. Dinner is good.

Dinner at the restaurant should be improved.

Beautiful appointments, from wallpaper, flooring, bedding to lighting. Gardens were immaculate!

    Not one thing

The countryside setting and authentic chateau look and feel

Had to drive to town but not really an issue

Perfect location for exploring Normandy and then relaxing on the special chateau grounds. Our room was new and quite comfortable.

When it rained there wasn’t a place outside of the room to read.

    The breakfast was very good.

The restaurant food was average and the menu was very limited. The dinner and lunch we had were disappointing.

The location is excellent - 5 minutes from Bayeux and easy access to the highway for other locations in the area, but you are in such a serene setting away from any noise. The entire property is meticulously maintained. Our room was large with a very comfortable bed and roomy bathroom. They have a lovely outdoor area for dining and the pool/hot tub/sauna area is very nice. We had a massage in the tree house which was completely relaxing. All of the staff were knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.

This is so tiny, I hate to mention it, but the bacon on the breakfast buffet was hardly cooked, looked raw, really. Everything else at breakfast was perfect.

The location of the property to the Normandy beaches and Bayeux was perfect. The dinner and breakfast were delicious. Our room was huge and had everything you could think of included.

    Everything was fantastic.

The location, the staff, and the grounds were amazing. We truly loved the spacious room plus the garden view.

I had mentioned this in another review that France overall is very environmental conscience. That means you can't completely control the room temperature. We woke up one early morning and it was freezing for us.

This beautiful old Manor has been restored beautifully in the countryside of Bayeaux. We felt pampered for the entire 13 hours we were there! Highly recommend!

Charming Hotel in Nurmedy An ancient house featuring spacious and beautifully designed rooms. The place is very green and well maintainedThe receptionist had a lovely attitude and patiently waited for our arrival until 10:00 PM.Although we were informed in advance that the spa would be closed, they opened the beautiful little spa in the heart of the forest, which included a hot tub and a wooden sauna.Breakfast was pleasant, but there were no fresh vegetables, despite our request for vegetarian options. The carpet in the room is scruffy and feels unclean; wooden parquet is preferred.A fantastic destination for a trip in the Normandy area, especially for visiting Mont Saint Michel.

The location was great, secluded but not far from the center. The premises were amazing, and the room was very big and clean. Everything was provided to us and the staff were fantastic to us and our little one, extremely accommodating always with a big smile on their face. The food was great too and I would love to visit them again!

    All was great!

This was the best stay in a very elegant chateau with a perfect location for visiting the Normandy beaches and American Cemetery. The room was warm and comfortable and the service was excellent.

    Everything was great!
