    • Everything! What a charming castle to visit and stay in. The staff were amazing and the room was very comfortable.
    • I liked the fact that we technically stayed in “a castle” and the location was conveniently located near Dublin airport.
    • Beautifully maintained grounds for a nice stroll. Room was elegant for the style of the hotel. Clean spacious and comfortable four poster canopy bed. Morning breakfast in the castle was delightful and delicious!

    Cons -

    • Didn’t like the hot room with no fan.Didn’t like the lack of attention from check in staffDidn’t like the tiny TVDidn’t like that breakfast wasn’t includedDidn’t like not being able to visit the part of the hotel that is considered the castle Didn’t like the overflowing garbage receptacle in the parking lot.
    • Difficulty with having a dog with us. My search filtered free parking and pet friendly. Also I messaged that we were travelling with a dog. Whether this was a hotel or Booking.com fault I am not sure. Upshot was that they wanted an extra €90 for accommodating the dog.
    • We signed out two bicycles that had flat tires. Caught one before leaving the property but not the other as it was a slow leak. Only got as far as the town of Straffan and had to push the bike back. We appreciate the free drink at the bar fir our troubles. Management spoke with us the next morning to tell us the bikes are maintained regularly but It was evident they were not. Brakes, bell didn’t work. Rusted and covered in cobwebs. For a high calibre hotel, their facilities can be better maintained. I’d also suggest a free shuttle to/from Maynooth at the very least as there really isn’t anything nearby.

Gorgeous setting in a quaint countryside village on a property that has charm, beauty, privacy, and impeccable hospitality. We felt like royalty. And the breakfast is fabulous, especially the Irish Porridge.

Lovely place, very good location, cosy and comfortable.

The food is a bit overpriced for the quality and choice.

Very cool to stay in a castle on our last night in Ireland and the grounds are beautiful.

Rooms are pretty, as long as you don’t look too closely. Fabrics are faded, dirty and fraying, (chairs/couch) Handles came off the dresser when I opened a drawer. Towel warmer in bathroom was not connected, so I put on the scratchy robe.

Absolutely lovely hotel. The core of the hotel and the outstanding hotel restaurant is an old castle which takes you back a few 100 years. The rooms are in the newer wing with old style furniture, a very comfortable bed and a large well equipped bathroom. If you stay at the hotel make sure you make a reservation at the restaurant. The food, the staff and of course the location is just amazing.

Lovely grounds and an exceptionally comfortable suite.

    A 4 p.m. check-in time? At those prices!?

    7ElyPosted on: 6-30-2025

The restaurant and breakfast are good.

We stayed a few nights and unfortunately one night there had been some event and it was impossible to sleep since the noise went on until early morning.

The property was beautiful and we loved all the history!

There were no lifts to our rooms and we had to carry our heavy suitcases up two flights of stairs! Also we were extremely hot at dinner and in our rooms, as the weather was very warm.

The staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable and welcome. When they heard we had to leave before breakfast for a flight, they made sure we could see the castle area and had lovely breakfast boxes to take with us at 5:30! I just wish we could have stayed longer!

Reception staff were excellent and very friendly. It was my wife's birthday and we were given a beautiful bedroom with a Happy Birthday platter of chocolates. The General Manager was wonderful and even helped to repair my reading glasses.Breakfast was beautifully set out and freshly cooked. This hotel is up there with the best we have had the pleasure to stay in and would rate it as excellent in every way. In fact all of the staff were very friendly eager to make our stay the most memorable possible.

Amazing history and refurbished rooms and gorgeous setting. Fantastic dining at Garden Bar

The beds were not firm enough / comfortable.

    Beautiful

The bath/shower was unsuitable for us as seniors to use, having had a hip replacement recently . We would ask for accessible bathing facilities on future visits.

The hotel and staff were fantastic. The only thing I found strange was that the door to the kitchen was in the foyer where the reception was ..food was being constantly being brought through this area to the dinning room, without covers on dishes, I found it very unhygienic as this area was always busy with residents sitting or passing through..maybe the dishes should be covered to protected before being served to customers.. apart from this our stay was lovely

Room service very slow to arrive but nice hotel overall . Was questioned whether we had paid for our room service on check out .. we had paid at the time of receiving the meal

The location and facilities were incredible! We received a warm welcome from the staff. We greatly enjoyed dinner at the garden bar and cafe. We would happily stay here again.

We had to check out early for our flight and there was a small technical issue that temporarily prevented our refund for the breakfast, but it was able to be resolved.

I made a mess booking this as a present and booked the wrong dates. Sara the manager was amazing and helped me rebook. Staff were all lovely.
