Pros +
- Luxurious accomodations at reasonable price, great family location with nature and thrilling views from mountain top, outstanding breakfast buffet - best ever had
- The common spaces and location of the hotel were excellent.
- The location was excellent for Koli. The views spectacular & easy access to trails as well. The room was quiet & peaceful. Size of room was standard.
Cons -
- The room was very average looking and average cleanliness for such a high end and expensive hotel.
- Well, compared to other hotels, you’re basically paying for the location—it’s just that good. I booked a room with a nice view, but honestly, there were still trees in the way so the view wasn’t exactly open. In the summer, since you’ll be spending more time outdoors, even a smaller room facing the square might be totally fine. But if you’re visiting in winter, it might be worth paying extra for a lakeside room so you can enjoy the frozen scenery right from your window.
- Blackout curtains would be helpful for sleeping during longer daylight, although it was very quiet.

The common spaces and location of the hotel were excellent.

I chose to stay at this hotel mainly for easy access to Ukko-Koli on the summer solstice, so I could enjoy the sunrise and sunset. The staff at the reception were very helpful and genuinely nice to me. Breakfast tasted even better with the view of Lake Pielinen. The sauna has fixed hours, so it’s a good idea to check the schedule in advance. (I didn’t have time to go, though—too bad! ?)

I liked having access to the sauna. Outstanding breakfast. The staff were all very helpful and cordial. The view was beautiful, and I was fortunate to have perfect weather for hiking.

The views are magnificient!
The rooms are disappointing, stained washbasins paired with fancy coffemakers. The dictation of the owner, S-group shows in everything, particularly the restaurant.
Best possible location for staying at Koli natural park. Spa at the hotel is an amazing experience.
Too expensive. Dinner at the restaurant for the price is quite bad.
The location is amazing and the hotel is quite comfortable. Beds are great.
No daily clean services for the rooms. We agreed at least one day for the cleaning and that day they forgot about it and they didn’t even say sorry or anything to fix the issue.
Wonderful location . Minttu , our receptionist was very nice and friendly and helped us to get the most loveliest room . Everyone was so friendly and helpful.
Everything was nice
Fantastic views from the room & restaurant. Everything thought for outdoors: warming closet to dry your gear, easy-to-use ski storage, hot water to fill your thermos, free sauna in the evening. We even got a bit lighter blankets as we are used to ? Very nice breakfast and tasty dinners
A pity there's only one sauna for hotel clients, women 17-19, men 19-21, so can't have sauna at the same time.
Room was clean and the bed was comfy. Good activities such as spa and skiing.Excellent breakfast.
Wonderful location and views of the lake., hiking trails, inspiring natural surroundings.Great staff.
Expensive taxi from Joensuu, but prompt drivers.
Place is beautiful, good breakfast
Spa is not inclooded
We had an amazing and relaxing stay! The staff was friendly, helpful and we also got treats for our dog from staff. <3 The spa was great with nice views and hiking in Koli was accessible and pleasant. Also, the restaurant served delicious food and nice service. Thank you for the pleasant experience!
The cost of the spa was a bit expensive, as it was paid additionally to our stay.
Location, breakfast, spa, views, hotel room bed, hotel restaurants and all hiking services next to hotel.
Very bright motion detection light in toilet. There was way too soft mushy pillows.
Great view and location, good breakfast and restaurant, terrace with a view, nice staff, the FREE sauna in 3rd floor was a hidden gem. A lot better than the spa.
The spa was expensive and not that special. All the seats in the sauna were freezing stone, the jacuzzis were not so warm, it felt silly that we were ”forced” to buy the drink or products ”included” in the spa price. The free sauna was much nicer.
The staff was very kind and welcoming! The breakfast was absolutely amazing. So many varieties and all of it was really delicious. The view from our room and hotel surroundings were really gorgeous.
There was a towel that was stained in our room. The stains were big and brown and it had clearly been washed before but I feel like you don't reuse a towel that's so stained.
This hotel was our must visit place since trip to Finland in June 2022, so we booked it very much in advance. The location is just amazing and I suppose it is difficult to find another hotel with such picturesque location and access to Koli hiking tracks. In May 2023 there was extreme weather with heavy snow and we managed to enjoy the view. The rooms have potable water stations and the bottle to use for enjoying the tasty sparkling water every day. We really enjoyed the stay and the unique beauty of Koli National Park.
Not a kind of dislike, just take into account that the parking is down the hotel and you will need to carry your luggage by the cable car.
Location is perfect
There was no room cleaning provided. Staff was new and didn’t know much.
We stayed for one night. The room was very clean and well equipped. Staff was professional, kind, helpful. Everything we ate for breakfast was very tasty. For lunch we had pizzas which we would recommend to everyone. The spa was relaxing.
