Cons -
- It says it has AC but the room didn't blow the amount of cool air like we are used to in the US.

- Booked massage for girlfriend and me and provided names for greeting at Spa but then put into separate rooms for massage which didn't make sense to us on Valentines.

Evening meal in the exclusive Morrison suite was exceptional . This unfortunately was overshadowed by the majorily dissapointing breakfast the following morning .
The Breakfast . 1. Location ( 10 minute walk through exterior freezing cold courtyard . Inadequatle functionality of room ( to many shared bench seats instead of tables and seating for couples ) 2. No personal table service . Had to ask three times over a 15 minute time period to even get a pot of tea ( which finally came without a knob on the lid ) 3. Only a Buffet style breakfast not what I expect from a 4 to 5 star hotel . No Breakfast options cooked to order .
We stayed at Carton House as a special treat and Fromm checking in to sadly leaving …. You just couldn’t write our experience. Such an amazing “ space “ of tranquility and pure luxury. The staff are so welcoming, friendly and professional. What can I say about dining … just incredible. The whole experience… you just couldn’t write it . We will most certainly be back . Special thank you to Ann Hanslam Duty Manager and Zeth .
Having to leave …
The rooms were nice and clean.
The key card panel on the door didn’t work. We were stuck outside many times with a 7 month old baby and didn’t receive any help other than approx 8 new key cards…which ultimately don’t work on the broken panel. In general, the staff seem under trained on how to support with issues. They weren’t able to answer questions on the history of the property. We also didn’t receive the general information when checking in such as limited pool times for the baby and the dinner & breakfast times. There were no management figures around to support, I’m not sure if none were working if the hotel is under staffed but there were none from between approx 9am - 4pm. We were left with very junior receptionists.
Great grounds and facilities, dog friendly. Overall a fantastic location and stay.
plant based options were nice but minimal choice. Also would be useful to have vegan wines labelled in the wine list.
Staff was really unhelpful at reception. Also had dinner at 8:15 and was left at table with no drinks until 9pm.

Aesthetically a very nice property .
I’m sick of being treated like a second class guest when checking in as a Booking.com customer. The hotel was empty and we were given the furthest room from reception. Room 57 was the very very long walk to all facilities .
Grounds are stunning, rooms are amazing and food is incredible
Nice rooms, comfortable beds, lovely setting / building, food at dinner was nice
Spa treatments were just average, some of the beverages were massively overpriced - for example a bottle of Prosecco for €96 was excessive. Wait staff weren’t great - had to request things multiple times.
Gorgeous historic property. Attention to detail evident everywhere. Beautiful surrounding parkland. The exceptional friendliness and professionalism of the staff made the stay magical.
Room was clean and the view was beautiful
Poor customer service Staff at reception were very rude!
We had a stateroom upgraded for a fee.
The facilities were entirely overwhelmed by the numbers of guests and over use. The heating wasn't working properly and it was freezing in parts
Everything was good - nice hotel friendly staff & good location - lovely for nice walks.
This is where you fall down snd i really wonder if you will ever 5 stars. The breakfast in our toom on both mornings were of the lowest standard.Fitstly, the breakfast was very cold - the tea was cold - in fact the whole breafast was inedible. We gave you the benefit on the first morning but the second morning was the same. This is not the service you expect from a hotel of your supposed standard. This is even made worse since it was exactly the same last year. Nothing has changed - after our stay for Christmas 2024 - i wrote the same comments - obviously, nothing has been done with room service?I am sorry but this just lets down your Hotel and i think for that reason a 5 star rating is a little bit of a joke?
Its located in the Carriage House which is way to small to cater for the amount of guests. Had to queue for a seat outside the house.
Room was not cleaned after our 1st night had to ring reception for clean towels at 5pm not good enough for the price of the stay. Family of 4.
Lobby / restaurant / common areas are beautiful and have a lovely atmosphere
We paid a significant amount to upgrade to a room in the old house as part of our honeymoon. The room was extremely disappointing, it smelled musty, furnishings were old, room was very dark, bathroom had just a bath shower instead of walk in shower which was advertised. Spa facilities were also grubby and dirty. Had to pay as you go in cash for room service which I found odd for a 5 star hotel. We stayed in a number of 5 stars as part of our honeymoon and comparatively Carton was extremely disappointing and very bad value for money.
I thought it was a gorgeous stay, really nice staff! The only downside is having to pay for a coffee if it isn’t filter with your breakfast, €5.70, I think that is just crazy for a luxurious hotel ! If bed and breakfast is included you should be able to order a coffee without having to pay extra at a 5* hotel.
The restaurant variety, grounds, layout and decor. Staff are very well picked and trained, particularly Konstantina who was excellent when we were checking in. She checked us in when we last stayed as well. Very friendly and professional.
My only issue was that I booked for 4 adults and a child with the child staying for free. Unfortunately, free meant without a third bed. As it happened, one of my adult children did not come down for the first night. For the second night, the two queen size beds were far too small to accommodate two adult males (my sons) and my daughter. In reality that would have meant the two boys who are six feet plus sleeping in a tight bed. I raised the issue and it was met with a room change and a camper type bed, however, it should not have been an issue in the first place. This took a little while to resolve.
Beautiful location and stunning grounds. We really enjoyed our stay.
The dinner was lovely but we both experienced digestive issues afterwards.
