    Pros +

    • Great location, staff and accommodations
    • Staff particularly friendly and helpful. Lovely grounds- love the outdoor restaurant.
    • Excellent facilities and the staff was excellent

    Cons -

    • I checked out a day early as I thought the restaurant for lunch and dinner wasn't up to my standards that I was expecting. I had been traveling in Portugal and Spain and Italy for the past two months and on my last night there, I had the worst dinner of my entire journey. Didn't feel I wanted to stay the additional night I had already paid for.
    • It was a little difficult to find at first - definitely take the main road, not the small country lane to the property! It is not a shortcut and our Jeep almost got stuck going up the hill! Steam room was not working properly which was a shame. Otherwise it was great!
    • Room was in stables house woth thin walls between rooms and needed car to get to within second carpark that was a mudfield.Plumbing problem in spa area so entire main house smelled badly (toilet smell), including restaurant.Food served was overall good though, especially beef cheeks with mash (special of day as replacement for other dish). Do not recommend octopus that is bland.Carpark just field, so very muddy and partially under water. Not welcoming reception lady upon arrival, frustrated that one would park near entrance, as we were unsure where to bring luggage...no-one to carry luggage. When asked if could come along, she said it was easy, only 150m away, take second carpark and down from white house and we were sent on our way.We felt treated like annoying poor relatives, disturbing their dinner party, rather than their honoured guests.Signs said 'only jaguar and Rolls-Royce' to park near house...funny as got Jag at home and was here in rental car that was only BMW!...Breakfast until 9.30am, check out 11am, but spa only open from 10am to 7pm....so little time, so she said I could extend to 12pm.Anyway, seeing the smell, it didn't matter and we were just happy to sleep in at a distance...got a phone call by 11.30am by the male receptionist who had not been informed of our extension to 12pm to see if we intended to extend our stay with them....as would get charged after 12pm.

Stunning property and beautiful grounds, spa access for guests with a lovely outdoor heated pool & sauna, staff very friendly, breakfast was delicious (loved being able to get some healthy things! Nuts, seeds, yoghurt, fruit etc…. Chefs kiss).

It was a little difficult to find at first - definitely take the main road, not the small country lane to the property! It is not a shortcut and our Jeep almost got stuck going up the hill! Steam room was not working properly which was a shame. Otherwise it was great!

Beautiful main house, nightly well lit, large grounds, comfy bed, big bedroom.

Room was in stables house woth thin walls between rooms and needed car to get to within second carpark that was a mudfield.Plumbing problem in spa area so entire main house smelled badly (toilet smell), including restaurant.Food served was overall good though, especially beef cheeks with mash (special of day as replacement for other dish). it's a beautiful property in a beautiful part of Italy and the rooms are of a high standard

I think it lacks warmth and you get the feeling that tourism is simply not working for anyone in many parts of Italy and that by going there, you are part of the problem... the staff seem jaded and going through the motions and the guests are busy taking selfies. it's overall tragic but so not unique to this hotel so don't let this put you off as it's a decent place

Lovely setting and the staff were courteous and helpful. Breakfast was always good and the steam shower in our room was truly amazing.

We had no air conditioning throughout our stay and we were told that the whole property had an issue with it that couldn't be resolved and even after mentioning several times nothing was done about it. It was very hot in our room and we were unable to open our windows because of the mosquitos! It was also a very dark room, with lights that didn't work, bathroom fittings hanging off and generally it needed some attention! We were also told on arrival that we were eligible for a free meal one night and a spa session but when we were given our final bill told that this was an error!

The staff was great, especially Guillermo, who assured us there we no ghosts. We loved the grounds, the proximity to Cortona, which you could easily reach by car in 6 minutes. We loved the breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. The spa was wonderful. The warm pool outside with the wind in the trees was splendid. It was very relaxing and I want to go back.

The staff was awesome. Our room after we moved was absolutely fine. The first room had mold in the bathroom and was dark and gloomy

The entrance was difficult to see from the road. See above

Nice room, if it had things that worked.Nice staff.

Aircon in room - not working.Jacuzzi bath in room - not working.Spa- not clean and no staff to clean it.End of season atmosphere, with minimal staff and run down feel.Nobody in charge - but emails every day asking how things were: when we told them, nobody replied.Appalling service.

Spa and position is wonderful. The team is very helpful. We relaxed and enjoyed

The room furniture and equipment is pretty basic for the tone and ambition of the hotel.

    The spa and the breakfast

Little issue with cold water in the shower

    6GiuseppePosted on: 8-24-2024

Spaces outside and the SPA although quite outdated

Needed to wait 1 hour to check in because the room was unavailable. Could not book massage. Finally booked a massage the day after after check out. At checkout they asked me to pay again my prepaid accomodation. After I had to prove payment directly to booking I cancelled the massage and the told me cancellation was only possible 24hours before!!! At the end I did not pay for the massage, but I was quite disappointed for the service. Clearly not enough personnel. The few people interacting with customers are poorly trainer as a service providers and the property is looking to make the extra buck on the details!

Serene setting with quiet peaceful surroundings. The facilities were very good. Good place to get away. Not crowded or pretentious.

Please have towels in the spa and not make us bring our towels from our room. The huge iMac computers at the front desk area barrier to welcoming and personal interaction with the reception staff (whom I like very much). Checkout is very manual and time consuming. Patrons standing around to check out. No toilet paper holder in bathroom and no shelving in shower. All in all, great stay. Just my 2 cents.

Fantastic breakfast. Evening meal was nice. Pleasant grounds and spa.

Location was a bit isolated without a car. The shuttle was expensive.

Our family (parents in their 80's, and three of us in our 50's) stayed here for a few days in June 2024 as a last minute change from a villa we had previously booked. What a blessing to have found this little gem! We are well-traveled, but never thought of ourselves as "Spa People". However, we LOVED our time at the Resort. The rooms, spa, grounds and restaurant were all topnotch - but for us, the staff really made our trip here special. Everyone was so gracious and helpful (without being pretentious) during our stay. The breakfast is incredible and you can even get eggs cooked to order for a small, added fee. After already spending 9 days of walking steep cobblestone streets around Italy; the Turkish bath, salt cave, sauna, and hydrotherapy jets in the pool felt amazing to our sore muscles and feet. The zero-gravity beds in the Relaxation Room were so therapeutic, that my sister got the brand-name so she could buy one back in the States. I would not hesitate to recommend the Cortona Resort and Spa to fellow explorers, and plan to stay there again when we return to Italy.
