About
Overlooking the picturesque Massaciuccoli Lake, Albergo Butterfly is set in a tranquil pedestrian area. It features a panoramic sun terrace, restaurant and free parking. Free WiFi is available throughout. Each air-conditioned suite has a LED TV, safe and private bathroom with a shower and free toiletries. One of them offers a spa bath and views over the lake. A sweet breakfast is served in the room every morning at the Butterfly. It includes espresso coffee and/or cappuccino or tea, together with fresh pastries and croissants. The restaurant specializes in characteristic Tuscan and Italian dishes. The hotel is set in the same neighborhood as the former residence of Giacomo Puccini, just 328 feet from the theater. Other activities available nearby include the sailing club port and the dock, from which you can enjoy trips over the lake. The seaside is 1.2 mi away, and shuttle busses to Viareggio leave from 656 feet away. Pisa and Lucca are a 25-minute drive away.

Excellent breakfast
The hotel restaurant was closed for the holidays . We were out of the peak holiday season but there were few restaurants locally which were open
Very quiet and great surroundings private parking large room everything in the room we needed. Friendly staff great to have a jacuzzi in the room. Very nice breakfast
Lovely small hotel right on the lake , staff were very friendly, room was very quirky and clean , nice terrace with Great Lake views (room 101) we ate in the restaurant on the first night, serving staff were very polite and informative of menu options. Several car parking spaces which was very nice. Just across the way was the Puccini home/ museum and of course the open air theatre. A trip to Pisa is well worth it.
The staff were so accommodating and helpful The breakfast was greatThe location was excellent
What a unique and charming hotel, the staff were very friendly and welcoming but thoroughly professional, breakfast was excellent including a clever offer of sweet or savoury (we both had savoury - delicious!). Our very well-kept room was delightful with original decor, a private terrace overlooking the beautiful lake and an amazing double spa bath tucked away under the bed - great fun and very therapeutic after the night-time drive from the Mediterranean port. The location was super too, we're only sad we missed an operatic performance at the near-by theatre during the Puccini celebrations; the tranquil and delicious surroundings made up for that to some extent. We certainly plan to rectify that disappointment in the near future.
Nothing at all
Location, friendliness
Quite expensive
Ideal location for the opera. About 25 minutes walk from train station but there is a bus most of the way. The staff were very nice. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning made it easy to sleep. Very quiet. Nice bar with good price drinks. Jacuzzi under bed was unusual
Breakfast was a bit odd, it was either sweet, which was 3 cakes, or salt which was pizza, a sandwich and a pie. All of which seemed like leftovers from the day before. It came with juice and a hot drink.Unpleasant smell when we turned the jacuzzi jets on
Location, perfect for the Puccini opera festival.
AC is slow and weak and temperatures outside high so hard to sleep.
Great staff. Very welcoming. Lovely restaurant. Perfect for going to opera as can walk there.
Excellent views, great staff at reception. Room was nice but due to the heat 33-35 degrees we were unable to use the outside room which came with room 2. Cleaning lady was great!. Fantastic for the Puccini operas, it’s a two minute walk to inside the auditorium.
Rooms need tlc. Following comment is nothing but advice: This hotel is over a mile away from the train station and nearly as far to the bus station. Taxis are hard to get and very expensive (to railway station it was €30. Due to the heat is a long hard walk. I would seriously say you need a car as there is nothing local to see. In better temperatures it wouldn’t be too bad to walk to the railway station or bus stops as the busses have great links to all the major cities and are great value. Only downside was on our last morning we told lady we had a taxi booked for 9am (we arrived 8.25 for breakfast). We were first in the restaurant, others came in and were served first even though we ordered first and it was a cold breakfast. We had to ask reception to remind her that we needed to get going, any other day this would not of been a problem.
Location is everything: exactly on the lake, next to the Gran Teatro. Also very close to a bus stop, from where we took a bus to the train station. Staff was very nice. The breakfast was also good, we had coffee, juice and we could choose between a salty and a sweet one. It's not a buffet breakfast, but I found it enough and enjoyable.
So many candles all over the room and the bathroom. I understand they were there for a romantic atmosphere, but it's a little bit too much. No full size mirror and the shower was kind of small.
Location and that is all
It is a seedy representation of a 70’ film set. The chairs in the bedroom consisted of 2 x painted oil drums with a cushioned piece of hardboard. The bed was on a plynth with a pull out well worn hot tub underneath. Not for me!!Air con consisted of a worn out blower system from the 80’ that blew in the warm air from outside, 36 degrees was hot enough.
Great location. Wonderful staff. Good food. Slightly quirky rooms
Location is excellent: just a few metres from the lake, the outdoor opera theatre, and bus stop to Viareggio or the beach. I loved the friendly staff and the bar and restaurant were very good.
The minibar fridge is too small for storage of food or fruit and the restaurant is not open for breakfast until 8:30 am, and is closed one night in the week.
The location is really good and the staff members are so nice.
The room was too much old , and different from fotos. The jacuzzi is also too much old with plastic surface, and I don't think that it is possible to clean well. Also the shower wasn't working good.
Wrong choice
They have a construction right and sournded the facility, map location not accurate... not worth to stay in , sorry but thisvis my opinion
Very nice lake view
Outdated room and furniture (including the jacuzzi).Mattress is overdue and sinking in the middle.Strong humidity smell and marks on walls.Shower head was broken and the shower was leaking on the bathroom floor. The hotel restaurant is closed for renovation, and the entire front end of the hotel is a construction work making parking impossible nearby.Extremely overpriced for the current value of the room.
