    Pros +

    • Staff was very helpful, breakfast was wonderful, drinks at bar were excellent and an overall beautiful property.
    • Perfect location for walking, biking, going to restaurants, shops, the beach without having to call a car service. The customer service was excellent and every staff member was so helpful during my stay. I almost extended my time here but needed to meet friends in Rome.
    • The property was absolutely lovely. The pool, and reading garden were a dream. The staff were so kind. We had an early morning and they called and left a message to see if we wanted breakfast boxes made up (I didn’t get the message till I was back in the States due to my e-sim).

    Cons -

    • The room could use some upgrades but it was cleaned daily.
    • Nothing!
    • It is possible to go to a beach club across the street and spend the day at a reduced rate as a guest of the hotel. However, it wasn’t it wasn’t really possible to swim because of the size of the waves and the current.

Wonderful historic hotel, spacious, almost perfect location for the beach

water pressure low, Wi-Fi doesn't work at the pool

Exactly as pictured. Beautiful historic hotel right on the beach. Wonderful staff, pool, bar, and breakfast.

    Very clean and warm staff

PoolOnly opens at 9am and I like an early morning fitness swim. On my first morning I couldn’t get into the pool until930 am as the swimming attendant didgt show up so I pretty much missed breakfast

i loved everything about it. we first stayed in grand hotel royal on 1995 and the standards have never dropped. location is fantastic and the standard of everything in the hotel is first class and very very comfortable

We enjoyed the lush gardens and the big pool, as well as the balcony overlooking the sea. The breakfast is fabulous, as well.

    10Matgoncalves7Posted on: 11-6-2024

The hotel staff were very friendly and attentive. The breakfast was quite complete. The room was very comfortable.

The hotel is a 20 minute walk to the train, so if you are staying in the city to catch the train it is a long walk

The reception Team were amazing, they could not do enough for us and helped us plan days out, they went above and beyond!! The beds were so comfortable and so clean too, the facilities were great and the breakfast was amazing

Lovely big hotel in a great location. Reception staff were fantastically helpful and the bar staff by the pool were really friendly during the day and the staff in hotel bar at night were also great. The hotel is in a fabulous location to explore the surrounding area. All areas very clean and tidy

Only used hotel dining room once as food wasnt cooked freshly and was cold when it arrived. The staff didn't seem to be as friendly as the staff elsewhere in the hotel. Limited facilities for such a big hotel.

Staff very helpful and friendly.Breakfast very good. Great value all round.Rooms spacious.

Noise from passing traffic. Bedrooms need a little modernisation.

The hotel is beautiful and centrally located. The physical facilities are very nice.

The staff were very unfriendly and playing a game with reservations for dinner in the dining room. Even at the breakfast buffet there was a problem getting coffee and it was a contest to get food off the buffet with the staff blocking it and moving it around. We weren't told we needed a dinner reservation when we checked in but were sent away by the maître d' but then told by the desk that they had a cancellation and could seat us. I then asked it we could make a reservation for the next night and they made a note. The next morning they delivered a note to our room that they were full. At breakfast the maître d' said don't worry he had a table for us but at dinner we were refused even though there were many empty tables and they were in the second hour of serving dinner. There didn't seem to be any Italians at the hotel, mostly people from Germany or England. it was a very strange situation.

I can only reiterate what many others have said on Tripadvisor. This is possibly the best hotel we have stayed in. It is spotlessly clean and the attention to detail is amazing - rearringing the fruit at breakfast, fluffing up the cushions in the lounges, cleaning the ceiling fans and maintaining the gardens - all done constantly. It would be rude to mention staff by name because there isn't a single one of them who doesn't deserve praise, from reception to bar to restaurant to maintenance. Breakfast is amazing - I have never seen an egg-boiling machine, pancake maker, automatic yoghurt dispenser or honeycomb before! And of course the toaster provides endless entertainment every morning. The pool is a little brisk (to say the least) but huge and with the more than adequate number of sunbeds, each with a table, never any of the conflict you get at other hotel pools. But not only were the staff fantastic, so were the other guests. We met and socialised with people from many different countries and found them great company. It is not a cheap hotel but, as I said, probably one of the best. However - maybe the owners should consider having the pool toilets and changing rooms put in a museum. They have probably been there since 1926!!

    Some of the weather!

Staff very kind and helpful. Beautiful pool and garden. Great location. Breakfast phenomenal and good GF choices.

Dinner was in a very large room, OK but pricey. Prefer smaller restaurants.

    10DenaPosted on: 9-27-2024

Breakfast was excellent- first time here as we usually stay at a different hotel- but we will certainly use the Grand Royal in future

I think everyone and everything was fabulous- maybe the weather let us down a little!

The location is great - close to everything and lovely staff. And great breakfast! The 25m pool was perfect for our daily swims. We stayed poolside most days and there was great availability of sun loungers every time.

Poor WiFi, noisy air conditioning in the room and the English speaking TV channel choice poor.
