Sporthotel Schönau am Königssee

This hotel is located near Hitler's Eagles Nest which was a must see on our vacation. It was also close/on the outskirts of Berchtesgaden which made it a quick little drive back into town and the breakfast spread was nice!

It did smell a bit old and stale. I understand these buildings are old, but maybe a fresh coat of paint and some new carpet can do a lot to help with smells.

Incredible views from and around hotel. Very Bavarian. Great breakfast. Parking was easy.

It was a beautiful building with spacious,clean rooms.The valley it sits in is breathtaking! The staff was very kind and helpful. It's the best free hotel breakfast I have ever seen! (I spend over 100 nights a year in hotels) I would live here if I could!

We all liked the location, nearby restaurants, bakery & shops. Beautiful view. It was easy to get around to anywhere.We loved it there. The staff were very helpful. We enjoyed it very much.

The room was too small as compared to the photos on Booking.com. And had a squeeky bed

The view of the mountains is great, and the breakfast was very good.

There were a few issues. The bed was too short for me (I am 6" / 1.83m), and I couldn't lie straight. The bathroom is so small that the sink is on the outside (in the bedroom). There was a smoke detector beeping every 20 seconds all night long, the internet didn't work. And there was a mosquito in the room...

We only stayed one night because we arrived in town one day early. Hotel was nice, room was large and comfortable (I think we got an upgrade because we didn't check in until 11pm and most of the other rooms were full) Bed was comfortable but the hotel is focused on more modern travelers and the facilities did not have that "old world charm" which is what we were looking for. Breakfast was good. Most of the guests at breakfast appeared to be younger generation (25-30 years old) who were focused on hiking and other athletic activities. To be fair, the hotel name is "sports hotel". I can't think of anything to complain about. It just didn't have the old world charm but they did not advertise as such. We got exactly what they described in their advertisements.

More of a modern feel than a historic Lake Koningsee old world style venue.

Property location is facinating. I saw many negative comments but after came here i was wondered. This place is really good. Reception also frindly to me. And all the things are clean. Breakfast table is amaizing. This is better for this price. I got no 17 room in 2nd floor with Alphs mountain view. Wonderful hotel experince

Beautiful scene.Room is big enough for our family.Nice pizza shop as neighbour.Bus stop just 300m away.The lady at restaurant s helpful. She helped us in preparing the breafast even before 7am.

the best thing about the hotel is the location. the bathrooms were also better/modern than the rooms.

definitely not a 3 star hotel. not worth the high price. booked a room for 2 queen beds but their policy is to pay for individual children. no other hotels in Germany had that policy.

I did not like the room and the hotel was also not satisfying.

First of all, at the price of 321 euros for one night, the conditions that prevail in this hotel are inappropriate to the price. When I arrived at the hotel, I was given a room on the second floor. According to the description, the reservation was to include either a balcony or a room on the ground floor with access to garden furniture. I didn't get a room with a balcony or a room on the ground floor. A phone call to the owner did not give anything, because this gentleman told me that I had not read it and hung up with me, wishing me a nice day. The room was supposed to have a double bed and a separate bed for a third person (our son was traveling with us). My son's bed is a fold-out creaking travel bed - I attach a photo. Tragedy. In addition, there was to be an electric kettle and a hair dryer. I got a kettle and a hairdryer only when I asked for it at the reception. In general, I do not recommend it. The hotel is old, in need of renovation.

The breakfast was ok, it had a good variety although some products were the cheapest possible, such as the yogurt and the orange juice, which could not have been any cheaper. Yet this is the only good thing I can say about this hotel.

The hotel promotion is misleading. The pictures show a nice restaurant and a fantastic bar. These facilities exist but they are closed. The bar only serves the administrators, but we cannot even ask for a glass of water. So, these pictures MUST be taken down, since they are fraudulent.The lack of these services also makes the location inconvenient, since there is nowhere to have even a glass of water in the afternoons at walking distance.The cleaning of the rooms is terrible, there were cherry seeds under the bed when we arrived, and we reported this but they were never cleaned - I am sure they are still there and soon there will be a cherry tree growing up under the bed...The cleaning of the bathroom is the same situation, they hardly pass a broom there. We placed some garbage in the bathroom's trash can, and the plastic bag in the can was NEVER changed, the garbage stayed with us the full four days.A three-star hotel must have some minimum supplies such as a dryer, soap, shampoo, etc. All that we had was a bottle of soap, a cheap toothbrush, and a small toothpaste.The lady at the reception, the first day, was nice (although hardly spoke some German and zero English) but there was a man around who was quite rude. That is the one we asked whether we could have a beer from the bar and just ignored us.We have been to several hotels in Germany, and we expect to receive some minimum German standards, this hotel failed, it has been one of our worst experiences anywhere.The price is a total rip-off.

The pillows were too big for me
