Traube Restaurant & Hotel

The room was charming and the staff was amazing! We loved the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Storybook location.

Location is superb. It locates in the old town, with few mins walk from train station. Staffs there are very nice and friendly.Room is clean. Bed and pillow are comfy.

Room is small (but shower space is good). But this is what we expected from bunk bed room type.Would be nice if provide a kettle (and mini fridge :D)

The location is very convenient, just a short walk from the train station. The hotel is located above a restaurant However, the room itself was clean and comfortable.I booked a bunk bed room, and it had everything we needed. The staff were very nice and helpful, and the breakfast was great — they served local cheese from Appenzell, and the coffee was excellent.

There’s no elevator, so carrying big luggage might be a bit difficult.

We reserved the small room with bunk beds and it met our needs perfectly. The beds were very comfortable and the room was adequate for what we needed. The breakfast the next morning was excellent!!!

Staying at the Traube Restaurant and Hotel was a joy! This family-owned hotel was a delight, being central to town, easy to walk to the train and the restaurant was delightful. The room was very comfortable and I would love to be able to go back and enjoy this location!

It was unusually warm but the hotel did provide a great fan. Also the church bells were something else :0)

Great location!

Check-in staff wasn’t very friendly. No ac and it was hot (80s) but fan provided. Very basic accommodations for the money. No elevator so could be an issue with luggage. A cold breakfast with a variety of options started at 8 am. The first day, staff was unyielding until 8 am. The second day, another staff member was very accommodating. We had 8:30 am trains to meet on both days. No safe, mini-refrig. Very clean. Wouldn’t choose to stay there again.

The staff takes pride in their work to provide you with a wonderful experience. The property is clean and well designed. The restaurant is truly delicious. We had a great stay.

The staff was very friendly, the rooms are freshly renovated, and the bed was very comfy! Modern shower and sink. Hotel is right in the heart of the city but very quiet after 9 pm. Breakfast was very good as well!

Bathroom is small but that is understandable as the building is very old. They did the most with the space they had.

Shower head was loose and made a mess. The clear glass bathroom door didn't allow for privacy.

The hotel is localized right in the centre of Appenzell. The staff is friendly and approachable. Breakfast, although not very varied, has quality options and is served with friendliness.

Breakfast has little variety. The rooms and bathroom are small.

Breakfast was awesome!! Staff were super nice and accommodating. Easy and free parking was a bonus!

The hotel rooms seem brand new - they have been freshly renovated. The rooms are bright and well-lit and seem well-appointed. The staff was very friendly.

The bathroom didn't have a door, just a sliding glass panel that was basically see-through. I wouldn't want to share a room with anyone I wasn't very, very comfortable with.

The room, the staff, the breakfasts and supper, the location, and value were all ideal. I thoroughly enjoyed my 3-day stay here and would gladly stay here again if I'm in this area again.

The room & bathroom was very clean. The breakfast was good. I love the cheeses & the cold cuts. The pumpkin soup was excellent & the grean salads was very fresh & yummy. The breakfast room & restaurant are very clean & tidy. The servers are very nice.

I wish we got two twin beds instead of a bunk bed. It was a bit harder for me to get up to the upper bed, since I am not used to it.

Breakfast offered a limited choice but was very nice. Dinner was fabulous.Service was consistently good.

I was located above the restaurant, so there was a bit of noise after the restaurant closed (moving chairs, etc.). It was not a big problem.Coffee at breakfast was not so good.
