Pros +
- The hotel is in a very central position of the town, and the building is from the 16th century. The restaurant is decorated with both old and newer artifacts, a generous mix of interesting pieces. The rooms are of a reasonable size, and the furniture is different from more modern hotels. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was dated, but clean and in good order. The breakfast was tasty. The selection was adequate. The restaurant's menu was limited, but the dishes served were of good quality.
- Great location near A31. We arrived at 20.30 on Sunday evening and were able to get a lovely meal.
- pleasant ambience, comfortable bed, friendly staff
Cons -
- Some may say that this hotel is worn down and outdated. The furniture is old, but we found it just charming. At his time of year (early December), the hotel is understaffed, but the owner was very helpful and tried his best to communicate with us in English.
- Minor point. Only a bath with a handheld shower.
- a bit too close to the road, and the shower head did not stay in place

a bit too close to the road, and the shower head did not stay in place
The staff were first class.Helped us find a place to park our van when the car park in front of the hotel was full.Old fashioned but good hotel
The only potential issue is the parking.
Location
Defective shower head and no attempt by staff to fix. No resident bar available as advised on booking.com as area being used for storage.
This is not an ordinary hotel. It dates back to the 18th century, all feels "antique". So do not complain about the lack of shower curtain or similar. You are in the center, 5' walking from the abbey and the river Durance.I was offered to park the bike in the covered garage (for free), and was provided with a radiator to warm up the room as it was mid-season and I was cold after 8 hours ride. The restaurant is good and not expensive
Nothing, I would come back
We had dinner at the hotel and were very positively impressed by the quality. The family who run the hotel are welcoming and friendly. Excellent value for money. We have stayed there before and would stay there again.
The quirkiness of the building, garage parking for motorbikes
Wifi in room, evening meal and wine limited, cold buffet breakfast, eggs on the menu would of being nice.
Great location Reception charming and historic breakfast pretty goodWe did not have dinner but this looked to be good also
Rooms were basic/ dated/ inconsistently furnished. a chair in our room was an empty wooden frame- impossible to use.
We were looking for a traditional French hotel, serving good, freshly cooked, regional cuisine at dinner and a traditional breakfast with proper real French bread, not an international style one with far too much choice. We were not disappointed. The Hotel Sauvage was everything we hoped: run by a friendly family with personal service at meals and local advice when we needed it. We ate in the hotel every night and there always something fresh and different each night, with good value local Macon wines by the bottle, glass or pichet. If you like modern hotels with coffee machines and a vegan menu, this is not for you. We booked a larger than double room as we like enough space, and this was a good choice. There is ample free parking outside. We would come again.
Central and clean
Very hot and close to train rail Food could have been much better
Didn’t sleep a wink it...
Old tired very noisy road and railway station
I won't stop here again.
Reception was friendly and informative. The food was downright bad. The snails as a starter did not taste bad but came from the packaging of the wholesaler and the preparation did not include any experience of the chef. The pasta as a main course was downright bad. How bad can you prepare pasta? I came here because of a stopover but will drive on next time.
Very good breakfast. The property is quite old but has lots of character that can't be found in more modern hotels. We loved browsing the many retro articles collected in the hotel.
Comfy beds, convenient location, reasonable price…eclectic
The bathrooms were tired, didn’t have a shower screen in 1 room, had to hold the shower head because it was broken in the other room.
Quirky, old French Chic. Very friendly staff.
Our room was run down, with water stains on the ceiling, but somehow added to its overall charm.
It's one of the few hotels around there with a 24-hour reception, which is super handy if you're arriving late. The hotel and rooms have a charming vibe, and the staff is really friendly. Breakfast was awesome—we even got freshly cooked eggs when we asked. There's public parking right in front of the hotel.
Traditional hotel in a very interesting and Medieval town. Lovely to walk around the town and visit the Abbey. The restaurant served good food .
The bed was hard
Breakfast is fine - location in centre close to La Gare. We arrived on a Sunday evening and were pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant open for dinner with a full menu and good food. Our choice of wine wasn't available but a higher priced wine was substituted for the same price - a nice touch.
Nothing - it's,a typical French provincial town hotel.
