Pros +
- Good location near ferry, which we took the morning following our stay. Very helpful with garage for our 4 bikes. Very nice breakfast.
- Small family run hotel. Super comfy beds and in the centre of the town. Very friendly staff. We did not have breakfast as we wanted an early start back to Calais
- Christine and Dominique great hosts. Christine went out of her way to take us to a winery experience when no time for taxi.
Cons -
- Although check-in was clearly stated as 4PM, the property was locked and inaccessible until 4:10PM, a serious problem because it was rainy and windy and cold and the four of us had just traveled 50+ miles on bikes in that rain. I expect a "3-star" property to have someone on staff during the day so that arriving before check-in (and 4PM is a bit on the late side for that, I must say), we could have come inside and waited while out of the elements. To make matters worse, 2 of us were treated to cold showers when the hot water ran out for us almost immediately.
- Reception and the property are closed during certain hours which maybe a problem after a long drive but it does state check in at 4pm and that is when they open in the afternoon. So not a complaint just more info when travelling
- Wifi hotspot a bit tedious to operate.

Wifi hotspot a bit tedious to operate.
We received a very warm welcome and were provided with very helpful advice about the town when we arrived . The hotel is in a great location in the town .Our room which was the family one was a good size and very clean .
Nothing it was all great.
There was a lovely terrace where we had a drink before we went out for dinner. The staff were lovely. our dog was very happy.
I would have liked them to give me a million euros and a time-travel machine when we left.
Booked last minute and they were able to accommodate us. Swopped double for twin (as requested on booking) Nice bathroom. Good location. Very helpful staff.
No air con on a very warm and stuffy night.
Very friendly staff, comfy beds and good shower. Offer of dinner at the room was good and breakfast the same. Citadelle very close for a nice walk.
Warm cozy friendly. We was made to feel very very welcome & nothing was to much trouble. That was our 4th visit and we will most definitely be staying again. ?
It was foggy when we left ?
Very kind patronne who let us check in early as my wife was feeling unwell. Much appreciated

Friendly staff, great location, super clean
Modern and clean and beautiful original stonework and features close to port, bars restaurants and ferry
We liked the easy access and free parking outside the hotel. We were warmly welcome and had a very good breakfast option. Our room was spacious and comfortable and so was the bathroom
A charming small hotel with a friendly and helpful owner. It is very close to the car ferry across the Gironde estuary to the Medoc vineyards. There is parking next to the hotel if arranged in advance (one space) and additional parking is available nearby.
Fine as is.
it was beautifully renovated with a sense of air and spaciousness and very fragrant. The bed was excellent and the room very comfortable. The owner was extremely helpful in storing and charging our bikes overnight. Breakfast was a welcome change from the typical bread and jam and yoghurt we have found in most places - I was able to have egg, cheeses and hams which I need for a day’s biking. I highly recommend this property.
Clean and friendly,good location
Guide books rightly praise the Auberge. It's near the river in the characterful town of Blaye just a walk or drive from the ferry and the amazing fortifications. I enjoyed my stay and the owner kindly advised me of the best local vineyards and even called them on my behalf to book visits. My room was comfortable and I loved the breakfast. The guide books are right.
Wish I'd stayed longer!
It is a beautiful building and the rooms are immaculate and presented to a high standard. The staff were super friendly and helpful, breakfast was lovely and the town of Blaye was an unexpected gem. It is a beautiful boutique hotel that you will not regret staying at.
There is nothing really, it would have bene great for there to have been a bar for a beer when we arrived (but there are several nearby) and parking is on the street (but you are in the centre of the town so what do you expect) The area felt safe and I had no qualms about leaving my motorbike on the street.
Location was perfect Bed was very comfortable It was spotlessly clean Staff were excellent
My colleague and I arrived by bicycle after a long and hot day in the saddle and were made most welcome on our arrival. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, and we were very pleased with all aspects of the hotel.
