    Pros +

    • Our stay was nothing short of magical — a truly unforgettable experience from beginning to end. The castle itself rises proudly above the rolling Tuscan hills, offering breathtaking views from every angle — including right from our bedroom window. It felt like waking up inside a postcard. The journey there set the tone perfectly: a scenic drive through the countryside that gradually opened up to reveal the castle and its modern, luxurious accommodations nestled harmoniously in the landscape. The balance between old-world charm and contemporary comfort was flawless. The restaurant was exceptional — each meal beautifully prepared and served with warmth and precision by an attentive, professional staff who made us feel genuinely cared for. Our time at the spa was equally indulgent; the massages and serene atmosphere completed the sense of total relaxation.Every element of our stay exceeded our expectations — from the setting and service to the thoughtful details that made the experience so personal and memorable. We left feeling completely enchanted and can’t wait to return to this remarkable Tuscan retreat.
    • Beautiful location, wonderful view and two great restaurants
    • Beautiful renovated building where we had our bedrooms. We stayed in an older building in 2016.Very quiet and beautiful setting.Delicious breakfasts and dinners.Friendly and helpful staff.

    Cons -

    • The drive in and out is winding and narrow
    • Rather an uphill hike to our room, more hand rails on paths would be appreciated. It would be tricky for less able bodied guests.
    • Dinner was average.

An amazing old castle and surrounding buildings, built on the top of a hill, with incredible views and architecture. the food and service are exceptional here, this is our second visit, we will be back.

Rather an uphill hike to our room, more hand rails on paths would be appreciated. It would be tricky for less able bodied guests.

    Dinner was average.

    7HenriPosted on: 8-5-2024

The views are beautiful, surroundings are nice and restaurant la Locanda del Colle is good.

Hotel is not finished and makes messy impression. Very many and steep stairs. We got an upgrade according to reception but was not verifiable and room was reasonable. Restaurant part of hotel was reasonable, staff not really friendly.

Wonderful historic setting in a beautiful tranquil landscape. Excellent restaurant with a lovely terrace. The spa offers very good massages indeed!!

Bathroom noises (water pipes) from the adjacent room.

    10JamesPosted on: 8-4-2024

A charming and well-restored castle on a hill. The reception and other staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was very well done. The room was large and comfortable.

In high heat/humidity conditions, the air conditioning struggled to meet the minimum required to keep the room comfortable for sleeping.

The hotel is unique as it occupies the entire ancient village with its own chapel that still belongs to the owners of the castle above. The castle well worth a visit. The view from the restaurant terrace of the rolling hills of Emilia is enchanting.Restaurant staff is very helpful and work tirelessly to accommodate every whim of demanding clients. Receptionists are helpful and ready to arrange trips to local attractions.

    The spa.Reception closes at 19.00.

The location is stunning. Staff were lovely. Breakfast and dinner were both beautiful

    Pool out of order

    7KimberlyPosted on: 4-1-2024

Gorgeous location but no hot water and poor communication on the spa services. There should be more clarity on spa availability

Hot water took 30 min to appear. Not sustainableBreakfast large but mediocre supermarket baked goods

Spacious comfortable and perfectly located . The suite was well put together with its own garden and the bed was very comfortable

    Nothing really

    7AnnikaPosted on: 10-1-2023

Beautiful location and fabulous buildings filled with charm. Great food.

Unattentive staff at checkin. Very noisy night due to wediing and fireworks and my room next to parking.

    7EdwardPosted on: 8-25-2023

Beautiful place. Great views. Quiet town. Wonderful breakfast.

AC didn’t work and we had a awful night of sleep. Wi-Fi didn’t work in room which made getting work done impossible.

    7JackyPosted on: 8-20-2023

Very nice location with great views

The room was big but not really “cosy”, the swimming pool was okay but no space enough to sit around it, the restaurant was a dissapointment

    8DanielPosted on: 8-14-2023

The castle, views and some of the property were absolutely incredible. The restaurant served up great dinners and breakfast’s were perfect. Really helpful and friendly staff. Overall good value for money

At times it felt a little bit unfinished, both in the room (felt like it was missing some furniture) and around the grounds (a lot of visible construction storage).

This place is just stunning, beautiful landscape, the building is breathtaking and the staff so helpful and kind!

    9TimPosted on: 7-31-2023

Amazing location, friendly staff and excellent food and what a view from the terrace at dinner, a great experience.

    Characterful, clean and friendly.

Not that easy to find - even though we had been before.
