About
Located in Catalonia’s Cap de Creus Nature Reserve, Hotel Cala Joncols offers an outdoor pool and massage treatments. In summer, its beach bar hosts live music and chill-out nights. Homemade food is served in the hotel’s restaurant, including characteristic rice dishes and fresh fish caught from the hotel’s own boat. A la carte meals are served outside in the gardens, and meals included in room rates are served on the stone terrace which overlooks the sea. Hotel Cala Joncols organizes activities in the surrounding area, including kayaking and diving. Transfers by boat can be booked to and from Roses, Cadaqués and Cala Montjoi at an extra cost.

Cons -
- Relative grand luxury in a remote location, showers were a little odd.
- there was some construction happening that used an electric drill during the afternoon, I am sure it is unavoidable
- The road to reach the hotel must be warned before. It is so isolated, with no phone signal.

For those with a sense of adventure, a love of nature - hiking, the ocean, the birds etc, this spot is an oasis. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was ample, and tasty - with a mix of classic and creative dishes. We loved the half board option. Here you can buy a bottle of wine and they will keep what you don't drink for you for the next day. The hiking in the area is wonderful with blooming roses, lavender and other flowers along the path in April when we went, and though a bit cold for the pool when we were there it was perfect for hiking. The reviews for this hotel are very mixed because the road in, the isolation, and the wifi that didn't extend everywhere on the grounds are not for everyone. For instance if you drive in in a car that sits very low with low profile tires you are going to be unhappy. If you are there to surf on your phone you will be disappointed. But if you go for the reprieve from ordinary life and put the phone down, you will find yourself not wanting to leave this little piece of paradise.
Stunning location. Gorgeous food. Great eco credentials. Bit of a challenge to get there but completely worth it when you do.The receptionist Roxane was particularly delightful and helpful. She gave me loads of wonderful tips of what to see in the area. Wonderful.
Beautiful location . Dinner in the restaurant was very good . Staff all very friendly .
The drive to the property was very difficult with unmade roads and steep cliffs . Musty smell in the bathroom .
Location and the surroundings where lovely great for a break from the hassles of the city and relax, breakfast was great and had all you needed to start the day, staff very friendly and helpful.
The only issue was the road in the last 5 or 6 kms was a rough dirt road which could do with some help.
Lovely setting...cordial staff, including Anna and Lola who was charming. Very difficult to find!! Not in Roses but in Joncols!! (Lousy directions from booking.com...arrived after dark which was disappointing...had to call and stop several times so lost a half day as travel writers-photograohers.) job)Grounds are gorgeous! We enjoyed sea view and walk to beach. Didn't mean to check "upgrade" offer and tried to cancel but apparently too late so felt we paid too much. Also credit card was discharged for full amount twice (Anna made a credit so I will check visa card.) Breakfast was delightful with exemplary service from Lola!
Explained that we lost our first day there because of the inadequate directions from booking.com....had to pay for two long distance phone calls to helpful property personnel -- very stressful and wasted our time instead of taking photos for our global articles... thank you, Anna and Lola. Michael also pleasant in warning us about flood...we were grateful to get out but "act of God" again stressful.
Excellent service, great scenic location, superb breakfast.
The dinner is nice and good quality but extremely expensive for Spain. However, you have no choice.
Remote, natural beauty and sustainable ethos and local foods and wine.
Per Google Maps we tried to drive over the road from Cadaques but there was a locked gate. Same when Google sent us through the Parq but again a locked gate. Even though the website says to come through Roses, it should say it is the ONLY way.
The location is beautiful and the rooms are very clean. The staff were also friendly, but some seemed to speak limited English. The restaurant is good, but quite expensive
Rooms are quite small and there were a smell of garbage at the beach and beach bar when we were there.
The hotel is completely surrendered by nature, it is perfect to relax. The staff was very kind and the room was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was very good and intercontinental. They offer a lot of experiences. I recommend the diving baptize, the teacher was very professional and it was an amazing experience. Highly recommend!
It is a little bit difficult to reach the place and you need to do a 20 minutes route along a dirt road. The restaurant is good but a little bit expensive.
fabulous stay in a unique location everything perfect rooms super comfortable staff friendly super clean everywhere
we got very lost using Google maps which delayed our arrival which seems to happen to many others
The hotel is on a private Mediterranean cove on the Cami de Ronda trail. The artwork throughout the hotel and grounds is amazing. The staff makes you feel so special and taken care of. Food is delicious!!!!! It was hard to leave. One of the best hotels I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at.
The garden, the beach and all the sorroundings were amazing, and the hotel was perfect. 100% recomended!
Great location and a very good fresh breakfast. The outside area is beautiful and in summertime, probably a real joy.
We could not get in, because the call button did not work, we were kept waiting outside until one of us got enough reception to call the Hotel. The rooms were sparsely decorated with tarnished furniture. The main light in the room did not work. The bed sheets were full of cat hair! Be sure to bring a lot of money for dinner, the only restaurant is the one of the hotel and it is very expensive! Wifi only in the reception area!
Fantastic location. Good food. Excellent buffet breakfast. The staff is friendly and helpful.
The bathroom had no ventilation and became damp very quickly. The tap water is non potable. The bottled water provided tastes of bromide which is not nice.
Located in a remote nature reserve with peaceful environment and private beach. It is a great place for retreat.
The drive is not for the faint of heart. It’s a real adventure. You can’t access it from google or apple maps and as a solo traveler it’s difficult to have to follow printed directions where there is no internet reception to access instructions on the drive. For the most part staff was friendly but people in higher positions were pretentious and made me feel uncomfortable.
Location, calmness , breakfast, servers at the restaurant for dinner
Very good breakfast and the best location !I think I left a black swimsuit in room 29?!?
Our shower room in room 29 needs some work doing….. a little tited….n
