About
This hotel is located 330 yards from the center of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. This beautiful Provençal village remained very attached to a rich past and traditions. Le Castelet des Alpilles is an ancient large impressive house dating from the beginning of the 19th century. It became a hotel in 1952 and has been managed by the same family for 3 generations. You can relax on deck chairs in the vast garden by the shade of a hundred- year-old cedar tree.

Pros +
- wonderful staff, walkable to town centre, excellent breakfast, very nice views of Alpilles from our room, available parking.
- We stayed one night. Room was basic and clean. The lady at the counter was very nice and helpful. The hotel was in the right location for what we wanted to see. I appreciate having the parking lot available as we walked to see all the sites.
- Excellent location, loved the pool and grounds, outstanding venue for the money, pretty property, usb chargers on nightstand
Cons -
- Room was not very quiet as I could hear conversations from other rooms. But the building is old so this may explain why I could hear conversations.
- Pool a bit cold, more light in the bathroom
- As charming as the hotel looks from the outside, we were a little disappointed with the inside. The endless hallways and many staircases gave a dark and sterile impression. There was no lift and we had to go up three flights of stairs to reach our room. The room itself seemed a bit tired with old mismatched furnishings and lacked comfort as it did not have a table, or a kettle, the TV was miniscule and it was hard to have a shower without water spilling all over the bathroom floor as the shower was over the bathtub and only had a small shower screen. The toilet was separate, but the space was so tight, you had to squeeze in and the door was broken, so didn't shut properly. The pool area that features so prominently in the photos was a lot smaller than expected and only had a handful of sun lounges, therefore it was near impossible to find a free one in the afternoons . All in all we found it a bit pricey for what was offered.

The location of the hotel is really good as it takes only about 10 minutes to walk into the centre of St Remy and there is a little supermarket halfway for added convenience. It is off the main road so it is quiet at night and we had a nice view over the roofs and to the hills in the distance from our room. I also really liked the typical French window shutters, they kept the room shady and cool during the day.

Location ok
Cockroaches in the room. The hotel staff was unable to resolve the issue adequately. Issue still not resolved. Stay away if you care about your health.
Excellent location, beautiful building and gardens, clean and comfortable and a wonderful breakfast with local meats, cheeses, and locally homemade jams! Lovely stay!
very friendly staff. superb breakfast. nice. comfortable clean place. about a 7 minute walk from downtown. Good choice.
The property is very close to the main town and yet far enough a way to have peace and quiet. There is an outdoor space where you can have a cup of tea or read a book and it is very nice. It is very close to a grocery store making it very handy to pick up a few things for the day. For €15, you could have a very good breakfast.
We like to open our windows and in general no one seems to have screens on their windows so if you leave them open too long, you’re going to get some bugs. I could’ve used an extra blanket and luckily I was able to find one on my own. The shower is excellent but again it’s this new way of having just a half of a shower door meaning that water gets out and about. This seems to be common in many places. The bed was perfect for me- hard/not soft.
The breakfast was great. The staff was kind and courteous. We had safe parking for our car. Short stroll into heart of town. The asylum where Van Gogh was was treated was right up the street (worth it!). They have a nice pool but it was a bit too cool for us to take advantage of. They are in a great location and Saint-Remy is a great village to visit!
Well located a short distance from the center of St Remy. Parking was easy and free. The breakfast was excellent and worth the cost. Nice family run place
The rooms were pretty sparse. Mattress good but the decor felt old and there were no little conveniences like a teapot or in room coffee. Perhaps most importantly the noise of people coming and going was awful. I could easily hear two people having an intimate connection while walking down the hall.
Great location, charming staff and spotlessly clean
A bit utilitarian in its decor
The Staff were lovely and very accommodating. Breakfasts were good too. We also enjoyed the outdoor terrace area.
The only problem was that it was quite noisy with traffic.
The Hotel was very convenient to everything in St. Remy. I love the area. The hotel is cozy and my room was lovely and comfortable. I highly recommend the hotel. Sophie especially was warm and welcoming.
great location for exploring the ancient ruins and Van Gogh hospital. swimming pool was bracing but lovely in the sunshine. The town was lovely, lots of art. breakfast was fine. lovely home made jams.
The location is really great and free and secure parking were really convenient! The hotel grounds and pool are nice, and our dog was more than welcome.
The room was a little on the small side and the pillows weren’t my favorite.
This hotel is a rarity. Family owned and run for 70 years, it's perfect. Not 'bijout' or 'smart' but honest. No uniformed resceptionist but a family member or friend. No standing on ceremony or 'have a nice day' style sincerity.Fantastic breakfast with fruit, meats, cheeses, home-made preserves, made to order egg dishes and plenty of strong coffee, all at a modest price. All served around a very clean and blue pool. Cosy. And, to cap it all, our room on the second floor had 180 degree views of the Alpilles including the famour Van Gogh rock with 'devil' eyes and only a 15 minute walk to the famous Van Gogh hospital where you can visit his room and see one of the views that so inspired him and, to add to the excitement and 10 minutes further on the phenominal Glanum site, a Roman town dug out of a field and opposite carved Triumphal arches better than any. St Remy de Provence really is a 5 star location and this hotel is a perfect base.
Having to leave.
Cannot recommend this hotel more! The hotel has the loveliest family that runs it and is a 5min walk from the old town. There is free parking & a swimming pool - which are both amazing to have in Provence. Great place to relax. The rooms agree to the photos.
Location, very comfortable room.
Lack of a restaurant
We loved the vibe of the place, an old building full of charm. Right in the centre of St Remy, so close to everything we wanted and needed.
close to centre. good private parking. helpful staff. beautiful pool.
no coffee facilities in room.
