About

Overlooking the Huecar gorge and offering a spa, this hotel is housed in a charming, 18th-century building set in the historic heart of Cuenca. Once an aristocratic townhouse, the Leonor de Aquitania provides an authentic setting for your stay in this small city in the region of La Mancha. It lies just a short distance from historic sights such as the Cathedral, universities, abstract art gallery and the castle. You can also easily reach the city’s iconic Casa Colgantes, which cling onto the steep sides of the deep river gorge. The hotel restaurant, set in the building’s former stables, allows you to try some of the delicious regional cuisine. You can also enjoy magnificent views over this Medieval city from the hotel’s cafe-bar. Guests have free access to the seasonal pool at Hotel Resort Cueva del Fraile, located 3.1 mi away.

    Pros +

    • I was given a very nice room with a wonderful view. The staff was friendly and helped me arrange transportation to the train station early in the morning! This was one of my favorite hotels on my 2 week journey.
    • Incredible view across the ravine from our room. Could walk anywhere in old town. Friendly staff who helped us book taxis and suggested restaurants.
    • Location was great

    Cons -

    • The welcome receptionist was not helpful at check-in. She would not help us understand what we should do, if anything was open that afternoon, or how to enjoy the town. Handed us a map. The bed had linens from 1990. Dated.
    • Nothing!
    • The apartment had a comfortable bed and sofa, a well-equipped bathroom with a low-floor shower (easy to walk into), and a kitchenette. The kitchenette had a breakfast bar with stools, and this was the only thing we would have changed - an ordinary table with dining chairs would have been more comfortable for us, since we are no longer young. But this was a small detail.

Great location with a wonderful restaurant. The view from our room was spectacular. The staff was friendly and we would stay here again.

    Nothing!

Great views of the gorge from my room. The spa-cave is also really great if you like sauna and/or steam.

The old town of Cuenca lies on a steep hill and is very beautiful. The hotel and irs apartments Los Ojos de la Mora are almost at the top of the hill, so the location is perfect for the best views of both river gorges. Our apartment had stunning views over the river Jucar.

Great location, lovely rooms and staff

Noisy from street and corridors. Food ok but not exceptional

    Good location

The heat in the room didn't work so we had to move rooms.

Superb location in old town…our room facing valley was quiet.Breakfast good value

    8DeanPosted on: 11-4-2024

Perfect location in the middle of old town of Cuenca, It was a short walk to everything.Elevator to roomBreakfast was reasonable amount for money, with a lot of options to keep us happy.Paid parking directly across from the hotel but don't waste your money - drive 300 metres up the hill through the castle gate and there will be plenty of free parking as well as beautiful mirador.Shower had excellent pressure.

Room was very hot and there was no way of opening the window.

    The location was ideal

The parking is expensive. The breakfast was nearly finished when we arrived, but when we asked, they brought out more. Great coffee.

The city Cuenca was breathtakingly beautiful as was the view from our apartment window The breakfast was the best we have ever had and the friendly staff made us feel so welcome that we want to come back and stay longer next time! Thanks everyone! You made it special for us!

There was nothing that we did not like.

Hotel room, location, views and a good shower!

    9VenetiaPosted on: 8-20-2024

Great location within walking distance of the most important sights of the old city. It is 7km from the railway station and the buses are not that frequent but there is a flat rate taxi for 12. Euros to go to the train station.

I asked for a quiet room but I was right above the road where buses and cars traveled a lot. I had to shut out the noise with window and shutters and open about 3am for fresh air. There is air conditioning for those who like it.

    10AndrzejPosted on: 8-15-2024

we had a breathtaking view onto the valley, verey old style rooms, wonderful experience.

there's nothing extra in the rooms like water or coffee, romms looking on the street are quite noisy and romms need a renovation,

We booked a room that overlooks the river and gorge, spectacular views from balcony. The first hotel I have stayed in with two shower units in the large shower cubicle meaning two people can shower at once with their own settings!Good breakfast served with a large selection of fruits, pastries, juices and tea/coffee. Scrambled eggs served for UK visitors.... ;-)Like most Spanish towns parking is restricted, but at this hotel there is a secure 24h public carpark directly opposite. Pricey at 21€/day, but well worth it for a short stay.

There was a humming sound (probably a pump - not our aircon) external to our room that came on every minute or so and ran for about three seconds 24 hours/day. Not a problem during the day, but annoying when sleeping.

    8AndrewPosted on: 7-31-2024

Great location , great views .

Our room was not as advertised when we booked . It was supposed to have a balcony and a hot tub . It had neither . The manager blames Booking for this misinformation.
