Pros +
- El Convento de Mave is one of my favorite places to stay in all of Castilla y Leon. The work that was done to take the historic styles and buildings and turn them into a place with all the modern conveniences, comfort, and style is just amazing. Add to that an exceptional staff in an amazing location and you have one of the best places to stay in Spain.
- This was a stay that exceeded our expectations. Plenty of parking. Garden. Restaurant and cafeteria. All in an old convent restored and modernized with respect for the building's history, structure and arcitectural design. Astonishing! The room was to the garden side. Quiet. Comfortable beds.Dining was by attentive waiters and the meals of the memorable!Breakfast was the best we have had in Spain in years. Plenty and in very good quality. We would have loved a couple of days more in this shrine ?
- Nice architecture, mix from old and new. Diner at the restaurant was very good, very friendly staff, short menu but local products and very tasty, kitchen with food quality above average. Thanks Valentin for your recommendations.
Cons -
- Nothing to dislike.
- Some spots were not clean. We can talk about a glass or a knife as well as of a corner in the bathroom. That’s just a pity. It is not that things are not cleaned but not really checked or done thoroughly.
- Food was not great, tasteless and uninteresting.

Very unique conversion of an ancient convent . The staff were terrific, over the top!The location and setting were very peaceful.
Excellent room and very interesting renovations to show the early convent structures.Very friendly people.
Food was not great, tasteless and uninteresting.
Decor and good food
Lack tea making in room
Unique. Stylish, historic. Smart TV. Food. Wheelchair friendly.
Staff were excellent and loved the quirkiness of the hotel. It was very clean and was a great last night before the ferry home.
No WiFi in the rooms.
Staff very friendly and welcoming. Room spacious, clean and comfortable. Conversion from 13th century convent to boutique hotel was very tastefully done, ensuring many of its original features were evident. The lovely gardens provide space , tranquility and relaxation. Evening meal nicely cooked and presented, good choice of breakfast options.
Brilliant staff nice sized bedroom. The grounds were excellent to chill out in. Lunch was fabulous
History of convent Restaurant good
Thought it was nearer Palencia
Breakfast was good, the meal in the restaurant was really lovely and the waiter was rather amusing even though he could not speak English and our Spanish is almost zero. The rooms are fab but we couldn't work out the "sound and light system" but that didn't matter. The rain shower was great. It's worth eating at the restaurant as there is nowhere to eat locally unless you drive.Parking good for our motorbikes.
Unlike anywhere we have ever stayed.Very imaginative conversion of a beautiful old building.Lots of areas to chill out.Very good food and breakfast Total quiet at night and we had a view to the mountainsHope we can visit again
Lovely people, lovely food, lovely building, quiet location. Nothing not to like. Brilliant
The warm welcome, the amazing building, a bedroom full of character, and very good dining facilities. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. It is a very convenient overnight stop if you have come off a ferry from the UK and are heading South.
The hotel itself is amazing, but the location is nothing more than a hamlet of a few houses. There is a Romanesque church of interest, but nothing else.
The architecture is stunning, and the attention to detail is impeccable. From the intricate carvings to the historic features, it's clear that a lot of care has gone into preserving this beautiful building.
nothing to say.
Loved the ambiance, food was delicious, excellent, staff attentive. Interesting architecture modern interior in a medieval shell. We would liked to have stayed longer.
Beautiful building place and gardens ..very calm and relaxed. Lovely food in restaurant, which is btw open to guests on Sunday evening and Monday. We had a great couple of days here exploring the fascinating local villages and landscape.
Beautiful building, where modern hotel has been created within medieval structure
The children's beds in the family room were fold-out camp beds which slid around the floor a bit... not very good at the rate we paid and not the sofa beds described on the website
Nice relaxing property. The bigger coties are one hour drive this situation makes it possible to visit Leòn Burgos and Palencia as close to highway
