    Pros +

    • Beautiful hotel located in an old castle, with a wonderful view over the nearby lake. Country view was also very relaxing, with a lot of green hills. Beds were very comfortable and the rooms were spotless clean.
    • Gorgeous historic property. Large lovely room with very comfortable bed, good lighting and lots of amenities. Very welcoming and informative staff. Can’t think of a thing I’d change. Wish we had stayed longer. Lots to do in the immediate area.
    • awesome room with balcony, phenomenal breakfast included, access to terraces with scenic views and walking around the property.

    Cons -

    • Wish we could have stayed longer. Also spa was closed the Monday when we arrived and we didn't have time to check it out.
    • Nada
    • On the first day at breakfast there was a German lady who was really focused and in control. The second day there was an Asian looking girl who seemed lost. She forgot that she was making a cup of coffee for me. After 09:30 no more scrambled eggs and bacon. With great difficulty we managed to get 3 pieces of bacon. A sharp contrast with the first day of our stay and not in accordance with what we had to pay for our stay. Also, the sauna and stram room facility is beautiful but too small.

Location, quality of build and materials, comfort. The view from the cafe/restaurant is fantastic.

Beautiful spot, fusion of modern and historic style with very good restaurant. Very friendly staff!

    Quiet

Lack of privacy and private facilities for guest rather than have to share and mix with the general public

Very relaxing stay in a castle with spa and sauna area enough for privacy and still big enough for all the guests. The rooms were comfortable and we had a bathtub as well. Views in winter make you feel like you're on top of the clouds. We were lucky to have a lot of sun as well.

Too short of a stay for us. We have to come back to experience it again

Quiet and serene. The rooms were clean and well stocked -although a private coffee pot would have been nice. The towel warmer was wonderful. The views were incredible. The staff were all professional, helpful and friendly. A mid January visit means most of the neighboring towns were resting after the Christmas bustle. It took some searching to find shops that were open. We had a wonderful 3 night stay and would definitely recommend it.

A beautiful german castle nestled in beauty..

Difficulty to get public transport but the hotel folks were nice enough to arrange for transport

Loved our stay at the Waldeck Castle. Rooms were very spacious, beautiful and clean and had stunning views. This was a value for money treat on our europe holiday. The beautiful little town of Waldeck was very welcoming...Friendly locals that were very accommodating. Would definately recommend a stay in this beautiful part of the world. Thank you

    Nothing, a perfect night stay.

The view from both bedroom and restaurant terrace were spectacular in themselves. Such a delight to see at the ends of the day. Restaurant staff were extremely helpful and obliging. The receptionist exceeded our expectations by volunteering advice on going to see the Eder Dam in the dark.We were very happy indeed!

Nothing! Everything was perfect and exceeded our expectations.

Quick check-in. Friendly staff. There was a vegan dish available at the restaurant - which was actually very tasty!

There’s either a very flat pillow or a huge pillow, so sleeping was not very comfortable due to this. We missed a water kettle in the room.

    9PhilipPosted on: 10-17-2024

View was amazing (even if not lake view). Breakfast was excellent and room was extremely clean and well laid out.

The restaurant was very expensive, and the staff not always efficient (ie we had to wait some time to order drinks - and after 2 groups that came after us were served)

    8DanielPosted on: 10-12-2024

Location was great, the Kitchen was the best - both breakfast and dinner the food was superb.

Staff was rigid and not accommodating. I had stored medications and the food manager man could not be bothered to help out when I needed them, and clearly his staff were afraid of helping me in fear of him. Despite not being full at all they disallowed an upgrade (I would’ve paid for) because of a minimum night stay … but it’s unsold and I’m already here?

Scenic drive up to the castle with a convenient place to park. Check in was quick and easy. When we found our room did not have a bathtub, we were happily accommodated with a room having a huge bathtub in a larger bathroom and generously sized robes and slippers provided. The setting is spectacular overlooking the lake and we were treated to a beautiful sunset. We had the sauna and hot steam rooms to ourselves as the hotel was not fully booked. Breakfast with a view is always nicer with many windows that overlooked the lake. Very extensive and delicious breakfast buffet that offered many lactose free options. When I asked for lactose free yogurt, I was brought a large bowl of one of the best yogurts I have ever had. No wonder that locals bring visitors to the breakfast.

We didn't have the chance to stay longer.

Good location. Good breakfast. Helpful staff.

When checking out, a small bill (cafeteria) was added for a service that we did not use. Which was canceled as a result.

Thr Castle was a must to stay , great room.Breakfast was excellent with great views.

The floor needs a good sweep .Would have been good to have had luxury toiletries for a hotel of this rating. We ate at the restaurant one night, start was lovely but main dishes we had a bit bland, needed more flavours and less salt

    9MarijkePosted on: 7-31-2024

Very well furnished rooms with stunning views. Excellent breakfast. One lady gave us a full can filled with ginger tea for my husband who did not feel well. Location is gorgeous next to the Edersee. You can walk to the dam. Parking is free,

    10DavidPosted on: 7-24-2024

Amazing location over looking the Eder lake and the dam. Food and breakfast excellent. Safe area to park motorbikes as we were a group of 7.

The property was great. Our only complaint which is just one of those things is that the top floor rooms get rather warm due to the fact they are in the roof. Fans are available to use but it gets rather humid at night even with the windows open. Not much of a complaint I know.

Lovely hotel in a fabulous castle setting with a great breakfast

No kettle in the room. Also, had to pay to go into castle museum (should be free for guests)
