About
Recognized for its excellence, Kinsterna Hotel has been awarded Two MICHELIN Keys in the inaugural MICHELIN Key selection for Greece by the @michelinguide. This prestigious distinction places Kinsterna among only seven hotels in Greece to receive the honor, showcasing our dedication to offering a unique and authentic stay, with exceptional charm and hospitality. Set within a restored Byzantine mansion, the suites and rooms have been authentically furnished and designed to reflect the building’s history. All rooms are individually designed and equipped to the finest detail; flat screen TVs, branded bathroom amenities, bathrobes and slippers, heated towel rack, scales, pillow menu and internet connection are standard. Guests can start their day with a Greek Breakfast with delectable in-season products coming mostly from the mansion’s gardens, such as virgin olive oil, citrus fruits and vegetables. The gourmet restaurant offers Mediterranean cuisine using hand-picked ingredients with contemporary twists, whereas the appealing Spa offers a variety of treatments including a traditional hammam. A restaurant offering more casual dining options is also available. Kinsterna Hotel features a truly unique signature swimming pool. The freshwater spring emerges from the basement and eventually forms a river-like swimming pool with private relaxation areas. A swimming pool solely available to families with children is also featured. The pool bar serves delicious salads, sandwiches, cocktails and fresh fruit juices in a relaxing and inspiring setting. Guests can visit the castle-city of Monemvasia, the famous beach of Simos at Elafonisos, the unique port of Gerakas or Kastania Caves offering countless and rare geological formations. Kinsterna Hotel also offers a range of activities that familiarize guests with the history of the mansion and the surrounding area. The closest airport is Kalamata Airport, a 2 and a half hour away.

Pros +
- The property is a great resort with friendly staff and convenient to Monemvasia.
- This was one of the most beautiful hotels I have stayed in! Five star luxury with spectacular gardens and pools. The food was made from produce grown on site. The staff were all top notch! Would love to come back and stay longer!
- First and foremost - the staff was always very kind and attentive! We loved how kid-friendly Kinsterna is: the cool (and complimentary) activities they have to offer, the fact that they have kid-friendly cutlery ready for you, the family pool is perfect for kids of any age, the plush donkey our kid received as a gift, the playground, the indoor playroom, the animals onsite, a great kids menu, and of course how genuinely nice the staff was to our kid. The hotel itself is a beautiful property, with plenty of corners to enjoy at all times of day. The food at the pool and at both restaurants was amazing.
Cons -
- More lights on the winding road to the property would make the drive easier from & to Monemvasia after dark.
- Not that I disliked this but I think it's a missed opportunity. The horse grooming activity could be much more interactive, we could've learned the names of the horses, what they like to eat, how to brush them, etc. Instead we were just given a brush and left to do what we thought was best.
- Absolutely nothing negative.

Everything about our stay was exceptional. The location is perfect—peaceful and serene. The rooms were spotless, beautifully designed, and smelled wonderful. The entire property is immaculately maintained, and every amenity—from the pool to the reception and restaurant—was outstanding. The breakfast and meals at the restaurant were truly some of the best we’ve ever had.
Absolutely nothing negative.
I don't even know where to start, the place is just a dream, everything is wonderful, the food, the staff, the grounds, the location, the rooms, and just a ten minute drive to Monemvasia, one of the most beautiful towns in Greece. Thank you Kinsterna for looking after our family!
WIFI can definitely be improved and as a suggestion, they could organize children's activities and have a proper kid's club
THE most amazing place on our 3 week trip to Greece! It exceeded my expectations and those expectations were already high. Everything was wonderful. Amazing staff, the most delicious breakfast in Peloponnesos, lovely & comfortable villa, beds, linens & towels. The grounds themselves were enchanting. We just walked around the lovely property. The resort pools and bar were very nice. Yes, I even bought a Kinsterna hat (from the reception) which I wear proudly! We loved Kinsterna!!
Beautiful facility and the rooms were spacious and breakfast were very good
Th staff needed to develop their finer customer service skills. Very few smiled or provided excellent service expected of a hotel of this rating.
Beautiful and majestic… lots of trees, flowers, nice aromas, great architecture, friendly staff - just great.
Kinsterna is a small paradise. Personal is super friendly. Food is delicious. Everybody is really keen on making this a great experience.
I struggled with the mattress being too hard and the topper too soft (I am aware this makes me sound like the princess and the pea)
A beautiful hotel tucked away in nature. Really enjoyed my stay from the welcoming team to the meals from the garden. Love all the natural elements, gardens, vineyards. Overall so charming and comfortable
Beautiful location. Excellent food and outstanding breakfast.
Above all expectations. Great location, beautiful story, amazing restaurants. Spotless clean. Staff is exceptionally well trained. A luxury experience.
The most amazing breakfasts! Lovely pool. Very relaxing place for a few nights. Staff were fantastic.
The staff drove around in little buggies a little late in the evening
I had seen the details of this hotel some time ago. We travelled from Thessaloniki to stay for three days. This is an amazing hotel with views of Monemvasia in the distance. The estate produces fresh vegetables for the kitchen and you see this on the menu. The hotel has plentiful activities: making bread, horseriding, discovering the sandy beaches nearby, getting to know all the plants and flowers, walking the estate. There are two magnificent swimming pools. The staff is beyond praise. Equally the rooms. You could have a holiday here doing nothing except the many facilities of the hotel or you could spend more than a week discovering Laconia all within easy drive from the hotel. The hotel has its own wine which is excellent
Exceptional buildings, amazing gardens, very friendly staff, close to Monemvasia
Characterful hotel set in beautifully maintained gardens. Excellent service on arrival and departure. Exceptionally clean and well appointed. Really good range of activities offered. Head Manager dealt with our room and taverna complaint in a professional and expedient manner with a positive outcome. Clear signage to hotel.
Room 21 not befitting 5 star hotel. Limited flexibility of eating times at Taverna/pool usage times. Would have expected hot breakfast options to be made to order rather than buffet style. Walkway from Car park 2 lacks path lighting at night.
Breakfast good, general character and flora
Restaurant was average, menu uninspiring and food served cold on more than one evening.
Beautiful property.
I would not recommend the tavern dinner. The location is beautiful but the dinner felt rushed and we were not told there was a fixed 22 euro per person fee for the starters until we were seated. Too expensive for Greek appetizers and only a few were good. The lamb meal was very good. Also, when the bill came they overcharged us, which was corrected once we mentioned it. Overall, not a great experience at this restaurant. The breakfast however was great.
The buildings are all very beautiful and the entire resort is gorgeous.
The location is very remote so I would only recommend this place for people who are not active and want to stay in this place and relax. The pools are beautiful but just to relax and not really swim for exercise. The room we received was very tiny compared to all the other luxury hotels we stayed in the region during our vacation. The bar menu was limited and not very local - I would expect that for someone coming to Greece would want to have more local options when sitting by the pool. The Monemvasia castle is about 15 min drive but not so easy at night. And if you are in this region, it’s totally worth spending time in the castle. However, for someone who wants to just go and relax without seeing much in the area or spending lots of time at beautiful beaches, this is a great place.
Lovely property, restorated with much eye for detail. Friendly staff, very good food.
