We loved this gem. Beautiful 1907 hotel close to our destination (Velsen). We loved the room furniture and the cute balcony with city view

They are refurbishing now so I guess it affects the experience. Soon they will have an elevator. Currently it was steep steps and nobody suggested to help me with my bags. I got a single room with a single bed. Very small but with a nice bath. However, breakfast was really good, held in a very pleasant breakfast room, and lots of gluten-free options.

The Augusta Hotel is a very nice little hotel in Ijmuiden´s harbour near the locks and the ferry to the UK. All rooms are neatly furnished, all very quiet, breakfast is excellent, the restaurant offers a great fusion cooking experience, the bar is awesome. The personal speaks a variety of languages and is really caring and helpfull. In a nutshell: Travel into the 19th century with all the luxury of today. A very nice and cozy place!

Beware of seagulls and mews at Ijmuiden harbour! Regardless of where you park, your car will get bombed by the birds. There is a Shell filling station with wash booths a few hundred meters away (vis-a-vis from KNRM headquarters just beneath the harbour museum). You may want to wash off mews poop from your car saturdays or sundays (self service) there.

Staff went beyond duties to meet our needs.

Staircase was very steep, but will be replaced soon or elevator provided.

    The people running the hotel...

This hotel is not much different than many old Dutch hotels. Very narrow and steep stair treads, no elevator, somewhat poor lighting, step up and into the bathroom, which is a trip hazard, tiny shower, no place to set my suitcase except the bed. Somebody may call the Furniture antique, but it is really just old and rickety and not terribly functional. There is not a lot of competition in the area so they are able to charge way more than it is worth in my estimation. The walls are so thin that the cleaning crew in the next room sounded as though they were next to my bed in my room.

    Staff were very friendly.

It's old and smells funny. For the amount of money, I had hoped for more...

Beautiful property, very clean and helpful and friendly staff.

Arrived in the evening but there was no food to be had.

Evening meal in restaurant was lovely. Food and drink was excellent. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Bed was very comfortable and room was lovely and warm for the time of year.

Everything was at or near expectations, and the price was more than reasonable.

The available parking was free on the street and the following day my car was covered in brid poop. It was so bad, I had to wash it on the way home.

This was the most clean hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff are very frendly.

The staff working in the breakfast need to pay more attention as we had to try to find someone to help us.

This is always my stopover for the Newcastle ferry. Clean, a bit quirky, lovely staff - the perfect stay to turn travel into a mini holiday.

Lovely old house, nicely decorated. Breakfast very good and restaurant for dinner inside. Easy parking nearby (free on the street).

Quite steep stairs into higher rooms. Could be problem for older people.

A real find, lovely decor, generous sized room and lovely helpful staff

    8NeilPosted on: 8-9-2024

Hot water for the bath. Nice, oldy-worldy feel to the place. nice hotel/restaurant/outside area close by.

The hotel could have been a bit closer to the beach (45 min walk) and the area is a bit industrial and close to the ferry terminal.

    7TamaraPosted on: 8-5-2024

Location was good, breakfast was good, very friendly staff

Very steap stairs, no elevator, extremely hot room no AC only ventilator, bedsheet had a hole and wasn't very comfortable
