About
At the edge of Valkenburg lies a splendid, traditional farmhouse that has been partly refurbished to become the magnificent Hotel-Restaurant De Burghoeve, which is close to Maastricht, is easily accessible and offers free parking. Valkenburg is the oldest tourist town in the Netherlands, by the Geul River and the hilly landscape of Limburg. This quietly located old farmhouse is perfect for cycling, walking and enjoying the bourgondic Limburgian life.

Pros +
- The room was clean and quiet. The staff were friendly. The breakfast was okay.
- Utterly unforgivable- total lack of hospitality.
- Poor
Cons -
- There were few parking spots available. The breakfast was supposed to be served at 7:30, but they opened the restaurant at 8:00, probably because it was a public holiday in the Netherlands. It should have been communicated in advance.
- I checked in after walking for 8 hours in cold rain on the Pieterpad . There was no water boiler in the room and when I asked how I could boil water, I was told “ we don’t do that “ then I was asked, “ what do you want hot water for?” And I replied “ because I have been walking for 8 hours in freezing rain and I want to make tea !” THEN the young lady told me that she could sell me a cup of tea, and when I expressed disbelief, she proceeded to give me a cup of hot water, “ but just this and no more.” In 30 plus years of cycling and hiking all over Europe, this was the ONLY time I have never even had a common room where I could use a boiler . Even the cheapest camp sites have them . In addition, the lights in my bathroom didn’t work, the dinner was an awful frozen fish that was barely edible , and really, the worst thing of all was standing there soaking wet and freezing, my hands so cold that I couldn’t get the change out for the room tax, and then being asked “ why do you want hot water ?”
- Our initial rooms smelled like someone had smoked in it. Luckily we were given a new room. But the overall quality of the rooms are quite poor. It seems like all the rooms were made from spare closets to maximise the number of rooms. Avoid if possible

Breakfast. Bed linens clean.
Bedroom - old, worn, tired. Sweat stains on wall where the bed was. squashed insects on tiles in bathroom. No plug for the bath. Old dirty carpet. No coffee/tea making facilities. Radiator Pipes make loud banging noise ALL through the night. Every night.
Good location and good breakfast.
The room was full of mold in the bathroom. The radiator was incredibly noisy and the room picture did not show any of it. I am quite disappointed also considering the price for the room.
Staff was very friendly
there is some really serieus refurbishment needed. Bathroom out of date and broken ceiling panels. Hardly any paint on window. Breakfast was oke only fruit salad had seen beter times tasted a bit funny.
The location was great. The staff at breakfast superb. The breakfast also really good
Poor communication from the hotel. On arrival no one there only remote assistance. The keys were in a safe outside on the wall. It was a guessing game which room was mine. First impressions really matter. A lovely old building let down by really worn interior. Clearly a damp problem. Those things unfortunately linger long in the mind. Sorry to have to say that
Good breakfast and location and the staff were very helpful
It was a bit cold in the room. In the medication system for the bathroom didn't work. After a shower it was humid in the room. In the shower curtain wasn't so clean.
Good budget option for an overnight stay. Staff and breakfast were excellent. Room basic but functional.
Free parking and basic breakfast included

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Also would like to say the Dutch people are very helpful when we never knew where to find some place, always a person very willing to help. The bus stop is close to the hotel so that was convenient to get around.
The breakfast was a good selection of continental and a worm dish. Plenty of choices.
I know it's difficult to keep bacon and eggs hot but the part of breakfast was only Luke warm.
The breakfast, and coffee at breakfast.
The bathroom needed renovating sometime in the 1990's sadly, it still has tiles and a bath from somewhere around the '70's, also, there was no heating in the bathroom, so I wouldn't advise a winter trip there unless you don't mind showering in the cold.
The location and surroundings were great, the staff very friendly, very clean room and facilities, bed and pillow very comfortable.
The size of the room is a bit small, the barhroom was a little bit dark and the headroom was cramped right above the toilet.
One member of staff a young girl who was very helpful.
Arrived to be told no food available manager very unhelpful when we asked for advice as to where we could eat or how to get to town. A very helpful young member of staff rang the sister hotel and arranged for us to eat there and a total stranger gave two of us a lift as we have to use walking aids to save us a long walk. There were no taxis available. We got back to the hotel to find staff had gone and we had to let ourselves in. Room very basic, rusty pipes in bathroom. Breakfast was provided next day which did have a good selection.
Staff was rude, breakfast was late and there was never anyone on the front desk
Staff, and breakfast being late
Friendly staff
Terrible fungus in the room. Unhealthy and couldn’t sleep
Personnel, location and breakfast were ok.
The room was not what we expected for the price. Small, shabby, rust in the bathroom, floor not clean, closet not closing. Way too expensive.
Breakfast was good. Location is beautiful.
Cleanliness can be improved. The first room allotted to us had Black moss on window frames and bathroom which is not healthy for anybody.
Decent breakfast Comfy bedFriendly staff
Hotel very basicNeeds updating A little far out from the centreAdvertised parking but limited
