- A well deserved 5 star chateau experience. Our second stay here, lovely as the first time. Highly recommend Chateau St Gerlach.
- The staff is excellent, the property is lovely, facilities are great. Yet the price is a bit steep compared to comparable locations in Germany, Belgium. The service level and people do make all the difference, their service and style, way they treat their guests is second to none and we had a great stay. The guests are very diverse and nice people.

Cons -
- It was a bit busy when we were there so also the facilities (sauna etc) but it was peak time during the holidays so that can be expected.

Our room was large and well appointed. It was however cold. A small heating unit was positioned under the thermostat causing it to go off before the room could be warmed. The breakfast was varied and well presented in an airy room with good views of the garden. The restaurant on our first night was very atmospheric, calm and quiet. The menu was a take it or leave it, vegetarian or meat menu. The lack of choice was poor. The food presentation was good as was the quality of the small portions. 195 Euros for two meals was not good value for money. We paid for presentation not food. The second night we were presented with exactly the same menu. A large group of locals were also present and they continually shouted at each other. The staff made no effort to calm or remove them. That experience spoiled the meal but not the visit.the location and buildings are superb but anyone looking for a budget holiday should avoid this location.

Beautiful groundsNice breakfast Excellent breakfast staff
Room was up 2 flights of stairsNo elevator in that section"Upgraded" room was standard and overpriced Pushed us to make a dinner reservation. Didn't tell us there was a cancelation fee of 50€ per person.Charged us 100£ for missing the reservation that we didnt really want amd couldn't make based on when arrived.Charged us 35€ for twin beds.We wanted to go to the bar but after going up two flights of stairs we weren't leaving the room until breakfast.
The architecture and the formal garden housing beautiful art sculptures.
Parking is inconvenient when it rains. Far away from hotel entry.
Breakfast - very good.Grounds & hotel premises - beautiful.Hotel staff & concierge - very pleasant and helpful.
Room - pubic hairs and dirt in the bathtub upon arrival. Very small room (especially given it cost over 500 Euros per night).Pet Policy - they say "pet friendly" but its more "pet tolerant". Pets are allowed in all the dirty parts of the complex in short.La Vista Restaurant - absolutely terrible. We were treated like second class citizens, the food came out with the pace and taste of Wetherspoons, the drink orders were wrong, and they gave us a bad table (in principle this is ok, but we asked for another and they declined, but then immediately gave a better table to another couple who asked to be moved right after we asked).Price - just absolutely not worth the money. I stayed at a 5 star hotel in Glasgow for 1/3 of the price per night. Aside from the main hotel and general grounds, the rest of the complex is a cheap looking conference centre.
Beautiful castle and very well renovated and maintained. Beautiful garden also! Lots of art.
The apartments we were in could use a small upgrade. But still very much in style of a castle.
Breakfast was very good.Restaurant was very good aswell but somewhat "stuffy".
I remember having had a bigger suite in the same (Ingerdael) class, on a previous visit
Stunning historical and artistic setting. Very convenient for Maastricht while also feeling like it was in the countryside, lovely routines for walks/runs. Good food for breakfast and lunch (did not try the restaurant). Thoughtful extra touches like bag to bring towels to sauna, welcome chocolates, welcome drink & fresh fruit. Bar staff were amazing, charming and helpful
Service at breakfast and cafes was not the standard one would expect in such a hotel. Lots of nice, well meaning students who had not been trained/managed to a high standard. Eg used plates left on tables; food arriving before cutlery; asked about what teas were available and made no offer to show selection. No sense of ownership of which staff owned which section. Not the young staff’s fault, they were trying but were not well trained/managed.
Ambiance of Restaurant is somewhat "stuffy". Breakfast is great.Staff is excellent.
We stayed for two nights at Château St. Gerlach and had a wonderful experience. The château itself is absolutely beautiful, and the location is fantastic with so much nature around. It is perfect for a relaxing getaway. We stayed in a Deluxe Terrace room, which we absolutely loved. It was spotless, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. Having our own little terrace was great, and the bathroom with its large shower was fantastic. We slept very well and really enjoyed the room. The peaceful surroundings, and the nature all added to our stay and made it even more special. If you’re in the area, we also highly recommend the restaurant Zest in Valkenburg - a hidden gem worth visiting!
On the less positive side, the breakfast was disappointing. At €39 per person, we expected something special, but it is unfortunately very average. We ended up cancelling it for our second morning. The eggs florentine were a particular letdown: the bread was not great, the spinach soggy and tasteless, and the egg cold. The cappuccino with oat milk was also not good. Overall, the quality didn’t justify the price. Another downside is that the only alternative café on the estate doesn’t open until 11:00, which is late if you don’t take the hotel breakfast. The spa was another small disappointment. While the staff there were truly lovely and helpful, the facilities felt more like a pool than a spa. When we visited, there were a lot of children playing and screaming, which made it less relaxing than we had hoped.
the location and the gardens , the buildings and the hugeness of the place gives a luxurious feel, they took us to our room with a golf cart and the staff were amazing and friendly !
for the price we paid the room was not very impressive although we loved it it was very big and i was satisfied
We have been coming to St. Gerlach for almost 10 years. The spa facilities are great, as always. Breakfast is excellent. Staff is courteous and helpful, and the bar & bartender are particularly good. We had a renovated room, and the bathroom was done in excellent fit, however we did miss the large bathtubs that used to be in the rooms.
The room comfort is sub-par for the price. The mattress is very firm, and the pillows very large and very soft, making it hard to get comfortable. The air conditioner was exceptionally loud & not particularly cold. The windows lacked well fitting shutters or curtains, so when the sun came up, we had to get up. The absence of a selection of regional beers, wines, and snacks as complimentary was really missed. For the price of the stay, being stingy with the mini-bar makes the stay feel more like a trip to the holiday inn, rather than a full service spa. Likewise, paid parking, at a country estate where 95% of guests arrive by car feels cheap.
It was a real treat. A very warm welcome by the staff, a beautiful decorated room with a little terras taking into consideration our preferences. A little minibar and coffee/tea machine. Extra coffee pads were supplied at no cost. Daily cleaning and a turn down service in the evening. It is all the little touches that make it special. The location is fabulous, adjacent to the Ingendael nature reserve, I made wonderful walks every day, and our room looked out over the beautiful garden and reserve. The restaurant is very good as well with excellent dishes and very friendly staff. The dishes slightly on the small side, potions don't seem to be adjusted, taking into consideration the number of courses. The grounds, the art, and the buildings all very beautiful. A real treat.
I hesitate to mention minor points because it was so wonderful but encourage that a better deal is found for the bike rentals. Those are very expensive. I also found that no outside breakfast, diner and bar drinks are offered whilst it was beautiful weather.
This was my favorite hotel of our trip. The hotel grounds are beautiful and full of sculptures. The room was amazing and the view incredible. The staff were very friendly and the bed was comfortable. We ate at the restaurant, which was excellent. Also, if you're going for the SPA F1 race, it is within a reasonable distance.
The grounds were lovely and room was big and comfortable
It was not possible to have dinner on site as they were booked out . Most good hotels will accommodate residents but not this one .
From the entrance to our departure, it was an exceptional vacation for our family. We loved the ambiance, the bed, the pool and of course the food. Everybody in the facilities were helpful and always with a smile on their face. Thanks!
The property is gorgeous, with every nook and cranny oozing with history and character. Driving in was easy, check-in was helpful, showed us all interesting spots to visit on a map and asked to help with our luggage. We took a late lunch at the bistro close to the grounds entry, which was delicious. This is where we tried the house wine for the first time and were pleasantly surprised. We chose the rose garden and the orchard as a place to unwind before dinner.Dinner was sublime and the staff really took the dietary needs of my pregnant wife seriously. Almost every dish was extra tailored specifically for her. Room was lovely and had a very nice welcome gift for my wife’s birthday. Breakfast was one of the best I’ve had with very nice choices a la carte and buffet. After checkout we borrowed an umbrella for the sun and went around on a hike that was guided via an app, all was very easy to install and follow. Coming back we also went into the church and learned about the life of St. Gerlac and his journey from a bandit to a saint, not often you hear about such redemption arcs. Back at the hotel the staff went the extra mile to open the bar ahead of schedule to serve us drinks before we set off home.
The Spa Area & Grounds were nice
The Room wasn´t great and stairs to upper level very steep, further the hotel only had one restaurant which was fully booked for duration of stay with no attempt to establish if staying guests would like to book in advance.
