    Pros +

    • Location was perfect. Beautiful setting and direct access to the wonderful lake. Probably not so convenient without use of a car though.
    • location and the service from staff.
    • Fantastic, special location with a beautifully private feel and so much well-preserved history. However modern and comfortable, although the lack of an elevator is inconvenient, it is to be expected since the property has a historic designation that prohibits installation of one.

    Cons -

    • I would like to have used the hotels swimming pool during my stay but was unable to as no children are allowed in the pool (probably because it's located in the spa).
    • The room for the price was disappointing, especially given what we paid.
    • Service at the deck/bar was spotty, but honestly it’s easy to go into Talloires for food/drink anyway. They do ask you to leave the car key with the valet since the parking is tight, which is mildly inconvenient but does make sense—it’s still generally easy to get your key from reception.

The location next to the lake is perfect. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The staff was very helpful with reservations and activity recommendations. Breakfast was delicious and had many options.

Maybe more food options during the day but honestly we just ate around Talloires which was great too. Very happy with our stay at the hotel.

Gorgeous lake front hotel. Dock was great (although you need to get down there early to grab a chair because there are not enough for everyone at the hotel). Most of the staff were very nice although it did seem like they were understaffed because sometimes it was hard to find someone.

No lift (totally understand this, just making sure people know). Food could’ve been better (our restaurant experience was the worst in a week in talloires and was also the most expensive). Felt overpriced (paying for the history, which is part of the charm).

This place has views unlike any other hotel! It was one of the most lovely and whimsical places I’ve ever stayed. Behind the hotel is a beautiful mountain which seems to always have paragliding happening. The other side is the beautiful lake where you can sit on chairs right next to the water while you eat and drink wine. The character and history of the building was beautiful. The staff was excellent, especially the waiters and waitresses. I am vegan and my boyfriend vegetarian, they were more than happy to make us amazing meals! There is a plant based menu for dinner as well which we were so happy to see. The food is wonderful and beautifully presented. They have a nice parking lot for people who drive there and have bikes you can rent which I highly recommend. We will definitely try to return soon!

The walls of the rooms are a bit thin so you can hear others around you.

My stay at Hotel Abbaye de Talloires was nothing short of exceptional, deserving of its flawless ten-star ranking on Booking.com. Nestled in a breathtaking location, the hotel exudes a serene, timeless charm that envelops guests in the peaceful ambiance of its historic abbey roots. The staff’s warmth and professionalism were impeccable, ensuring every moment was seamless and memorable. The cuisine was a delight, with each dish crafted to perfection, complementing the overall experience. The rooms, elegantly appointed, offered both comfort and a sense of refined tranquility. This is a place where time seems to pause, inviting reflection and gratitude for life’s simple joys. I left rejuvenated and eager to return to this extraordinary haven.

For business travellers requiring reliable high-speed fibre Wi-Fi, connectivity may present a challenge, as the Wi-Fi service can be inconsistent and unreliable at times.

The Abbaye was a delightful and memorable place to stay right on the lake in one of the most beautiful parts, with wonderful walks and an idyllic location. The character was superbly preserved, we arrived for just a night to break up a road trip from Italy to the UK and it made a magical stopover which my 7 year old also loved. I can imagine it is glorious in blue skies, we had rain and mist which was also scenic and poetic and it was easy to see why so many poets and artists had been inspired here, including Cezanne who spent a whole summer at the Abbaye. Our room was peaceful and beautifully appointed with antique furniture and overlooked the lake. The staff at the front desk were absolutely lovely and my son will always remember Manon who gave him some colouring pencils for his birthday. The restaurant is excellent but after a long drive my husband and I preferred to have a glass of wine in the historic bar downstairs rather than formal dining, and Manon did lots of lovely little touches of hospitality such as bringing his kids menu of steak and spaghetti for him which made us feel really at home. I also left something in my room which they kindly posted the very same day, altogether such sweet and lovely hospitality the kind of which it is rare to find. The building itself was sensitively restored and not over-done, reminding me of the Landmark Trust properties which you can find in the UK as part of the King’s commitment to national heritage, local materials and spirit of place. A real gem and definitely bookmarked on our map for future journeys.

Fantastic place full of atmosphere. Old building beautifully restored in a unique place in front of the lake. A very nice spa area and a room that was big and comfortable. Both the room service (excellent!!) and the restaurant can be highly recommended. And the staff was incredible service minded. A high class place - but not stuffy at all.

This place is amazing. We received a complimentary upgrade to the honeymoon suite. The staff was extremely professional and friendly. The view from this hotel is absolutely spectacular. Breakfast was 5star.

Nothing negative to say about this hotel.

Beautiful setting, very nice staff at the reception & housekeeping

Service at the bistronomique restaurant was too slow

My wife and I were there twice this month. This time, the staff very kindly upgraded us to an amazing suite, with a stunning view both on the lake and the beautiful gardens. The room was ready slightly in advance vs. standard check-in time. The suite was beautiful and had a fantastic charm. We enjoyed reading about the history of Talloires and the Abbaye in a booklet in the room. The staff also kindly showed us around and made us appreciate the beauty of the building. We had a lovely breakfast outside with the incredible view on the lake. Resting and swimming at the lake and at the spa was perfect.Thank you Abbaye staff. We will be back again and recommend your hotel!

    Location, history, character

Not sure about the toilet being in the bedroom and separate from a sink. No milk for coffee in the roomMy car was moved without my knowledge or consent, however this was addressed immediately. Otherwise all good

Splendid location: the hotel, the calm surroundings and the private access to the lake to take a dip on warm days.Furthermore we loved the excellent welcoming service and the spa

    That we had to leave.?

    1. Outstanding location, peaceful, just in front of the lake.2. Restaurant should get a Michelin star because it is SO GOOD! Congratulations to the chefs, I also left a review on Google, I cannot recommend it enough!!!3. Historical, beautiful building and access to the lake. 4. Nice SPA.5. Super comfy King size bed!!6. Charming room and furniture all around.

Hope this feedback can help you continue to improve:1. I feel the personnel could have explained to us more about the facilities, given how much history is in those walls, and to help us find our way around.2. We were given a room with about 2 hours delay and had to change in the lobby bathroom to get to the beach. I am 8 months pregnant so that was not the most comfortable experience, packing stuff in and out of the luggages in the public space.3. We were upgraded room because the room we booked was not available. This was nice. Yet we were given room n8. Beautiful, but on the ground floor, with zero privacy from people walking by outside at the bar. The windows had no privacy curtains, what a miss!! So we had to keep the blackout curtains closed most of the time, which removed the lake view we paid for, and made the room darker than it needed to be. This was a big bummer for me. Please add privacy curtains to these rooms, such a cheap little addition would make all the difference!4. No shower glass, which means every shower taken is a mess in the bathroom. Also, the shower made funky noises ses at night. Another small design improvement that would make a difference.5. No elevator, just be aware if you need this for accessibility purposes.6. Had to kill 2 spiders upon entrance in the room, and there was a hair in the bathroom... Miss from the cleaning staff? You would not expect it at this price point...
