    Pros +

    • A beautiful historic building in the centre of town. Our room was absolutely grand, stately. The services (massage) were professional and the hotel staff were so welcoming! Not only were we told that this was our house for the duration of our stay, but they even treated our dog as a special guest giving her a gift package comprising of two bowls, treats, poopy bags and a ball! We will return many times.
    • Great location, great staff, beautiful building

    Cons -

    • Nothing. It was perfect.
    • It’s time to update the amenities here! Bath towels, shower, TV, mattresses, pillows all must be 20 years old.
    • Def resting on old laurels. It’s pretty fun down, def not what I would compare with other Condé Nast hotels. Staff pretty inexperienced and not customer oriented.

Wanted two twin or double beds but had to share a double bed…nothing else available. Breakfast was lovely and included in booking.

    Would have preferred separate beds

Very convenient for the train station and to walk to tourist sites

No plugs near the bed to charge phones

Beautiful building, great staff, perfect location. The pool is small but lovely.

We had an issue with a sudden noise coming from the air con unit. Would be good to get fixed.

This hotel is full of charm and located in a beautiful historic area. The staff were incredible—very friendly and genuinely helpful. When the air conditioning in my first room wasn’t working, they quickly arranged a new room for me without any hassle. I also misplaced my water bottle, and they had it waiting for me at the front desk the next morning. On top of that, the chef prepared a delicious to-go breakfast for me since I had to leave early. The level of care and attention was impressive. Highly recommend staying here!

The A/C overall struggled to keep up during a heat wave, which made it a bit tough to fall asleep. It’s somewhat understandable given the age of the building, but something to be aware of in very hot weather.

Beautifully restored casa felt like we were staying in a well appointed manor home in a great walkable location.

The a/c was not working so it was pretty hot our first night. The internet was spotty.

Beautiful building and location with a great breakfast spread. Loved the orange soap!

Bed was not as comfortable as I would expect for a 4 star property

Beautiful architecture and interiors. Great location V helpful and friendly staff

The only little thing that stopped it being 10/10 was that the sound insulation was v poor in the rooms . We could hear the people in the room next door v clearly (they were a bit drunk though)

The staff were excellent - friendly and helpful. Reception is manned 24/7.The craft beer bar had 18 in-house beers and a good range of snacks / meals

The breakfast buffet was rather limited and the same each day. It was served in a small bar area with only a few tables. To get to other tables one had to carry food and hot drinks down some steps. Our twin room was nicely furnished, but being a period property the rooms do not have modern sound-proofing. Our stay was marred by other guests talking loudly in the corridor/ rooms late at night. The beds were quite hard , and no mattress topper was available.

The location. The staff are great.

The bathrooms truly needs renovation. Taking a shower or bath is awkward, somewhat dangerous, and messy....getting water everywhere when trying to shower. The bathtub is too narrow and when in the tub, the shampoo and body wash dispensers are out of reach. Also, the recent renovation of what used to be the breakfast room into a pub is ugly and has wrecked the historic feel and integrity of the building - that was a very poor decision - they should have renovated the bathrooms and left the main floor untouched. Lastly, the current breakfast arrangement jammed into the bar area is uncomfortable - the chairs are meant for lounging, not eating.

very friendly staff. enough space to relax in the library. good location

    10DianePosted on: 3-21-2025

Location. This property is close to everything Viana has to offer

Whilst the room was very comfortable, the bed was a bit too bouncy for my personal taste. I prefer a firmer mattress.

    Great location and great staff!

Breakfast wasn’t great. Cold eggs and limited offerings.

    10CesarPosted on: 2-4-2025

All of the staff was friendly and accommodating. Most of them spoke a language other than Portuguese such as English or Spanish so that made it easier to communicate with them.

The mattresses were not very comfortable.

Well located to center of town and train station

Bathroom configuration was a bit strange. No airconditioning was still warm part of year

    7SolaraPosted on: 11-10-2024

The location and breakfast were very good.

Our room was between 2 other adjoining rooms, separated by only wooden doors. You could hear every single noise from both sides. ?Also, the photos on Booking.com are deceptive - they show the old station building which is behind the hotel and nothing to do worth it. And the rooms they show are more beautiful and spacious than the one we had.

    9MariaPosted on: 11-10-2024

Nice building. Close to the train station and the center of town. Huge room. Nice gastropub next door. Good breakfast.

The bathroom lacked ventilation but this seemed to be true of many bathrooms in Portugal.
