Pros +
- This place is obviously a dorm. The rooms does not have private baths. you have to walk to the end of the hall for that, one side for men, another for women. For water you can either get it from the tap or walk to the kitchen on the ground floor at the end of the bldg. the kitchen is usable but is labeled for staff only. food places are not too far at least 500m walk either way. These being said. it worked for our one night stay.
- Good location. Excellent staff. Clean. Comfortable beds. Great breakfast. We spent 2 nights here whilst on our Camino. Very restful.
- I loved having a private room with a private bathroom! The balcony was nice too, with a gorgeous view of the river. It was quiet, a nice location, and exactly what we needed for a break day stay!
Cons -
- its a dorm. i remember thinking while i was there that if i was a student. i would have to bring more stuff to make it comfortable and conducive to learning. i dont see me using the kitchen during lunch nor dinner since staff would be there. no fridge that i can use. no laundry washer also.
- The beds were super hard, and it was very much two twins, which was a bummer when traveling with a partner. Even pushed together, the "seam" in the middle made it uncomfortable to snuggle.
- Very basic breakfast. Some omelette would be great option for example.

Nice location, spacious room and bathroom.

Is well located, staff is lovely, Carmo solved an issue with great patience and efficiency, the room was confy.
The room needs small reparations.Breakfast starts a bit late, if you're doing the Camino de Santiago, you'll most probably miss included breakfast.
Room near bathroom is a little noisy
This place was good; bf was good; staff was friendly
Well position, simple buffet style breakfast for free that was fine for us!A patio with a nice view of the river
My mattress had a big stain that I could see on the side of the mattress but the sheets were clean. We stayed two days and while we were gone they came ti change our towels. I appreciate but I would have like to know someone was going to come in while we were away
Excellent free breakfast. Excellent location. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Really nice Albergue on the Camino costal.
Perfect location for walking the Camino. Shared bathroom was clean and not busy.Good breakfast provided.
That the room was only for 4 people and they gave a towel
It was dirty old and gross. The facility was so old and dingy and just gross. It was expensive for what was given and such a shame.
It was quiet and the breakfast was wonderful. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great view from my room's balcony. Had the whole room to myself. Bathrooms were very clean as were the rooms.
This place was really out of the way and not close to stores or restaurants.
Easy to find. Helpful staff.
Room was very hot, could use shelving for luggage
We couldn’t stay. Understand that the place is modest but it’s unfortunately dated, not what it’s presented online. We left and management refused to refund or even partially refund. We found a hotel nearby better at a cheaper rate and air conditioned.
Nothing to be liked of this property.
Very easy so get in and out, right by the beach and a lot of facilities, restaurants but at the same time very quiet and tranquil.
Receptionists especially Carmelo amazingly helpful. Great location near river to swim plus waterfront plus old town. A large building very clean and great breakfast. My favorite place in Portugal so far. Close to a great restaurant
Quiet
Very far from restaurants and did not have a bathroom so it was at the far end of the hall.
Clean, safe, close to the river walkway and downtown.
The members kitchen varied in cleanliness. However, the staff do what can be done it’s up to the members. Glad we got to use the fridge for a few groceries.
Almost allA very good restaurant at 200 m
Beds are old
Disappointing
There are quite a few "long term" guests at this HI location (and at a few other HI locations I stayed in in Portugal) and they are not very mindful of the comfort of the other guests. Without getting into any details, I'll just say that I was unable to get any sleep during the night. It would be nice to try to book the guests who only stay one night (e.g., people walking the Camino) in different rooms from the one where you have the long term guests. This would be particularly easy to do around this time of year, when the hostel was quite empty.
A beautiful hostel and perfect way to end a day in the Camino. Lovely service and exceptionally clean
