About

Set in the walled town of Astorga, Casa Tepa is next to the cathedral and Gaudí Palace. This restored 18th-century palace offers elegant rooms with free Wi-Fi and plasma-screen TVs. Formerly home to the Earl of Tepa, Casa de Tepa’s most famous resident was Napoleon. The house has large grounds, a gallery and a spacious library with a fireplace. Each of the Casa Tepa’s rooms is unique. Some rooms have a private balcony, a patio or a lounge. All rooms include central heating and a private bathroom. The Casa is located on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route, and next to the A6 and A71 Motorways. León is about 30 miles away and Ponferrada is 37 miles away. Pros +

    • Comfortable big room on the top floor with good heating that you can control yourself. Lovely shower with hot water. Beautiful grounds and common spaces to relax. Very walkable area.
    • I was walking the Camino and stayed her for my birthday. I requested a room with a bathtub and it's a great tub for soaking. The bed was comfortable, and large windows could be opened or shuttered as desired. The garden area is wonderful. The house is historical and I loved wandering through the rooms where the family used to live. Breakfast is very good and is in the continental style. Close to walk to the beautiful Astorga Cathedral and Gaudi Palace. Highly recommend.
    • This is an exquisite property. Historical, well maintained, charming. Owner and staff are helpful, gracious. Just to think, we stayed where Napoleon had also stayed. Convenient location. Highly recommend this.

    • I wish there would have been a offering of wine at the bar in the back. If I'd had known that they didn't offer it, I would have purchased one at the mercado.

This was our second time we’ve stayed here and we stayed two nights. Wonderful history of home that dates back 235 years and 12 family generations. Excellent location in town right on the camino, near the Cathedral, and very close to a laundry mat. Nice outside private garden. Very friendly staff.

Price for the room was acceptable. We decided to have breakfast both mornings and we were stunned to learn the charge was 12 € per person for an average breakfast: Cold meats, cheese, fruit, bread, juice and coffee. We have stayed at many places where a comparable breakfast cost 6€ each. We will stay here again, but have a better breakfast in town for a much lower price!

Always enjoyable spending an evening in a historic inn. The property is beautiful. The room was spacious with high ceilings and balcony. A beautiful central garden. Polite and helpful staff. Great tub and shower with much appreciated HOT water for a soak after a long day walking.

The hotel overall has a lot of character, still retains it's historical look in good way. Fantastic location, Very friendly and welcoming owners/staff. The courtyard is fantastic -better then the pictures. Parking lot available inside the hotel grounds. Very pet friendly.

Our room was stunning, overlooking the courtyard. We don’t think the pictures do it justice. The staff was wry accommodating. The bar is an honour bar. And there are shared rooms for reading, chess…just loved it!

If you like history, culture, antiques, interior design...you will love this accommodation. It has the charming imperfection of being a truly old house in which Napoleon may have stayed.

I loved it all, but if you need modern design or amenities it may not be for you.

Wow...this place was amazing. Room was huge and furnished with period furniture, bathroom was amazing with 2 sinks, sitting out on terrace/garden was so nice after touring around the town. And location was just 2 minutes from what you came there to see and 3-5 minutes from multiple restaurants and cafes.

Top shelf! It is exceeded our expectations in every regard. Amazing, helpful staff. Stunning rooms and common spaces. Exceptionally clean. Outstanding location on the Camino close to the cathedral. Las Termas, a Michelin star restaurant directly across the street. Truly the best lodging we’ve stayed at in Spain. A true pleasure!

Nothing. Not negatives. Everything was outstanding!

Was wonderful after a long day on the Camino, room was beautiful, bed was very comfy, love the bathtub and the open bar was a nice touch too!

It didn't have a restaurant but that seems to be the norm on the Camino
