Cons -
- Breakfast worker was disappointing. She was no where to be found. Hot food and tomatoes were empty.
- Air conditioner didn’t work. Our room got up to 84 degrees Fahrenheit. Had to keep windows open which let in the flies.Pretty miserable stay. Talked to front desk and they sent up a maintenance worker and he said “ no cold air; it’s broken” and left.
- Rooms very hot. Breakfast way too late for pilgrims (8:00 on weekends).

Nicely appointed
Rooms very hot. Breakfast way too late for pilgrims (8:00 on weekends).
The staff was friendly, courteous, and professional. The room was very spacious and nicely appointed.
We only had 3 small towels. Im not sure if they forgot to leave us bath towels or if their bath towels are very small. They weren't large enough to wrap around a normal woman. The soap/shampoo dispensers wouldn't pump. The shower leaked out into the bathroom. We could not get a cup of coffee if we were not purchasing the buffet breakfast.
Big, bright, fantastic bathroom, crisp sheets, fluffy towels…
Always love the VDLP spa hotel. This was my 4th or 5th visit.
Room was comfortable, bathroom was luxurious, and the location was excellent.
I felt the room was designed for a pilgrim in that it had a twin bed, a single towel, etc. However, the price wasn’t very pilgrim friendly. Still, I enjoyed the stay!
We stayed at Eurostars Vía de la Plata – a beautiful hotel located in a historic building that was once the Convent of San Francisco. After hours of walking the Camino in unusually hot weather, the massage felt like a true blessing. Everything was spotless, stylish, and very welcoming. A perfect place to rest and recharge.
Beautiful room with gorgeous view of the Camino coming down over the hills. Nice living area with tv also. Large luxurious bathroom. Convenient location in Astorga. Perfect place to stay for two rest days while recovering from shin splints. Receptionist Sarah was super helpful! She helped me find a physiotherapist, and made the appointment for me. She was exceptional! And after two days rest and excellent treatment I was ready to walk the Camino again. Thanks, Sarah and Francisco for fixing me up! And thanks Eurostars Via de la Plata for the wonderful restful stay!
Everything was wonderful
Great front desk / reception staff. They go the extra mile to help. The girls at the reception are amazing. Great staff all around. Spacious rooms Great showerAwesome spa (book in advance)Next to church (8:00 pm Saturday Vigil Mass)Great luggage service (we were on the Camino)Breakfast was perfect
Mattresses were in need of change. Both of ours “V’ed” in the middle. No bar
For an additional fee, guests have access to a very clean and relaxing spa with a steamroom, pool, warming lounge chairs, etc. The room had a great view, and it was right on the camino, so we got to meet some of the pilgrams hiking to Santiago. There are tons of shops near by, and some great restaurants. This was one of the nicest rooms on our entire trip to Spain.
The room and bathroom are both very large- the bed is comfortable and huge! We stayed one night and we had a beautiful view of the countryside. The hotel is located in area close to restaurants and shopping choices. We were not on the Camino this time in Astorga but this hotel would be a good Camino pilgrim choice since a laundromat is close by and and the breakfast is very good to help you recharge before starting on your morning Camino. They have parking and that is a big plus. Make sure and park on the street before you check in. They will give you a key card to open the parking lot gate. Find a good "locals" restaurant for dinner. Some of the restaurants nearby looked too touristy. We had dinner at Pizzería L´Isola Che Non C´e because the restaurant owner and staff treat us like family (on this trip and our previous trip).
Luxury on the Camino . Perfect location, attentive staff , large warm room with good facilities. In the centre of a lovely town. Super breakfast!
Nothing but great things to say. Great location, facilities and a very friendly and helpful staff.
location and view
The spa and pool were closed
The hotel was wonderful and the facilities were amazing. It was a great price, the staff was very friendly and helpful at all times. I enjoyed my stay there and if you are doing the Camino de Santiago and want to take a break this would be the place.
Everything was good except the a/c didn’t work properly and the room was too hot. Staff were fantastic.
An exceptional staff was the highlight of our stay. The front desk team, especially Andrea, went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay. We were traveling the Camino by bicycle and the hotel provided secure indoor storage for our bikes. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast was very good and an excellent value. The location was perfect for exploring Astorga. Would have been nice to have a bar to enjoy the great views from the property.
Lack of a bar.
The hotel is very nice - clean and comfortable. The room was big and spacious. There is a very big parking lot behind the hotel - free of charge. The hotel is located in the center - 6 min walk from the Cathedral and the Gaudi Palace and very close to the main square.
Good location.Staff all good. Parking is secure at back of hotel, only some spaces are covered. A lot of steps from the car park back into the hotel.
