Pros +
- It’s a beautiful property and Steve the representative went above and beyond
- The facility was nice. Very quiet and as a result of the new ownership and renovations it was great.
- The view from this hotel is fantastic. You can see all the way to Portimao and the ocean. It is in a quiet area not far from restaurants etc. The rooms are a decent size and we had balconies facing the water views.
Cons -
- Had to request firewood and fire, starters and kindling for a room that had a fireplace that should come equipped. It was a lot of work for the staff to try and pull that together in the moment and it is cold in that room again your staff represented the property with great professionalism and attempting to respond in the moment
- wifi wasn't working.
- The hotel has a lot of potential to be something better than it is right now. Our rooms were freezing when we got there and it took a lot of time to warm them up. The common areas were very cold as well and we were told that they could not turn the heat on for us. Breakfast was mediocre, eggs and bacon, croissants and muffins wrapped in plastic, poor choice of bread, some cereal but no bowls or spoons until we asked for some. The internet was very spotty despite there being routers installed throughout the hallways. With some effort this could be turned into a really nice hotel and I hope that management will make an effort to invest in the comfort of their future guests.

Lovely staff. Great bed.
Didn't realize that the restaurant and bar would not be open.
I raved about this property in my last review, so much so that I returned and stayed again.
they were still under construction on some areas, but that did not keep them from delivering on the experience.
I LOVE this beautiful boutique hotel! It's under new ownership so they have a lot of amazing plans going on, and a lot of space to work with. Monchique is a lovely part of the Algarves, and this hotel has the best view you'll see of monchique and all the way to the ocean. Literally from your room you will see forever, but on the very top is the pool and that was a lot of fun! Parking was good, food was good, staff went above and beyond, the beds were comfortable, the shower was awesome. Stay here you will love it.
I could not fault the property... Some areas are still under construction but there was no noise or anything. Can't wait to see their developments in a year or so.
Wonderful view, lovely facilities but most importantly the staff were incredibly accommodating, attentive, and friendly. From helping us with a last minute late check-in to having our room stocked with a complimentary welcome aperitivo, to the manager arranging to have a shirt we accidentally left behind in the room delivered to usin Lagos...the front desk went above and behind.
The views were great and staff was very friendly.
Cold and poorly decorated room. Only one chair in the room while there is plenty of room for 2 chairs and a coffee table. Clean white walls with without decoration contribute to the poor atmosphere. It has a lot of potential though. The place just changed owners and we noticed the very new airconditioning so it might change in the coming months. For now it was too expensive, but soon that could change.
Room and bathroom were clean, spacious and comfortable with good storage space. There was a lovely view and a balcony. The location was quiet so also lovely. There was an excelent restaurant within easy walking distance. Parking was available but a bit cramped so we found it easier to park just outside. There was a kettle in the room which we love having to make tea. The heating worked which was good because some of the building was still being renovated and there had been a leak into the building from the swimming pool which made the atmosphere very damp. The weather was not great which didn't help. The staff were friendly and nice. We were given a decent breakfast every morning.
Though the staff were friendly it was not always very efficient or professional. We had great difficulty finding the place. Although the sat nav said we had arrived the hotel was under a different name. Eventually I entered the building to ask for help. I called and wandered round for a long time before anyone came. There was still a lot of work going on because of the leak so we were starting to think we'd come to the wrong place with no one there and almost went. When I booked the accommodation I was informed it was serviced. This turned out not to be the case. It was done every four days. We were staying five so it was agreed we would be done after three nights. That didn't happen. Nor after four nights. One evening we heard banging on the front door as we were about to go out. Some other guests were trying to get in but had been given two room keys instead of a room and front door key. There was an emergency key in a code box so we looked in there but there was no key inside. Had we not been there the two hapless guests could not have gained entry. This hotel has enormous potential but seems to be having a lot of teething problems.
We were given fresh coffee, orange juice and eggs to order with sausage. The was cheese, bread and sliced meats at the table. Very good.
The stay exceeded my expectations it was the most amazing view and facility’s, plus the staff Rusland was a very good person, we also want to thank Sr Delmar for the great welcome!! Excellent in all points.
The location and the view!
Lack of staff!
The staff (Sharon) and the atmosphere of this spot was awesome! She prepared a homemade breakfast for only three of us!
It was far from the town on Monchique, so you need a form of transport
people in this hotel are really nice. Sharon, who is the staff of this hotel, is very nice and helpful. She helps arranging everything for us and more.I also met the owner of the hotel at the pool, a lady and a gentleman. they are very nice people as well. one night the gentleman helped me to fix the wifi's issue, and invite me some beer and snack :)the room is Spacious and quiteMy daughter loves the pool on the roof. she spend an afternoon there :)
the wifi is broken time to time.hotel is locate in Monchique, which is a town in a mountain, so you need to drive carefully to be there
Really beautiful location with stunning views. All the staff were so friendly and accommodating. Even though it’s out of town there’s 3 great restaurants within less than 10 minute walking distance. It’s in the process of being renovated so not all rooms are open yet but our room was completed to a high standard. The main area of the hotel still has a lovely rustic feel.
The Wi-Fi was very intermittent, probably just teething problems with the new set-up, don’t rely on it if you need to work
The view is splendid but this establishment is not providing hotel type services. Rent a Room would be a more accurate description.
We were not initially given a key to access the property. We had to attract the attention of another guest to open the main door to the reception area. The following morning we were given a door key. There is no breakfast or other services. There was no sign of a bar being open . Certainly there is no way it warrants four stars; it would struggle to justify 2!!!
This place was above our expectation!
The only down side was that the pool its going through renovation and nothing was mentioned. We were able to use it, however one side was closed and no shower available yet as they are also being replaced.
Clean and beautiful Rooms, stunning views and nice staff!
Friendly staff, good breakfast and amazing views from our rooms. There is a hillside restaurant right across the street .
Monchique isn't quite as quaint as we had hoped, but this is a good location for Mount Foia.
I absolutely loved my stay. The lady from reception was extremely helpful and very kind. The room was bigger than what we expected. The view was amazing ?
The renovation was still ongoing. The pool tiles were not properly attached to the floor.
