About
Located in the town of Trujillo, this luxury hotel is built within the San Antonio convent, dating from the 16th century. Now a deluxe hotel, the Izan combines an authentic historic setting and traditional architecture with 21st century comforts. It has been fully restored to preserve its splendor and original character. In addition to its cloisters, charming central courtyard and other original rooms, the hotel now features an outdoor swimming pool and a vaulted breakfast room. The baroque-style property is located in the beautiful countryside of Extremadura. The ancient local town is famous as the birthplace of legendary Conquistador, Francisco Pizarro.

Pros +
- Everything, historic property, well kept , beautiful location and pool. The bathrooms are very well kept
- Bed was good. Towels as well. All toiletry products by Dove.
- Centrally located close to plaza major. Beds comfortable but furniture is dated and so is the bathroom. We had room 139 and in the hallways to that room there was really old looking carpet. Inside the room it was laminate so that was better. Tiny pool.
Cons -
- I liked everything
- Furniture old and dirty. Needs renovation. Dust everywhere.
- Had a drink in the courtyard around 10 and they had only one lady working there while the hotel was full so she was a bit too busy. Had to ask several times before we got a drink. Hotel should have more staff working there when it’s that busy.

Everything! The staff was very very nice! Beautiful place, the restaurant staff also very kind, congratulations!
great big rooms.grat location . pleasant staff. the only downside -poor breakfast.
Beautiful building. Nice breakfast.Room a little hot. Breakfast only starts at 8 (late for us) and they would not allow us to make a cheese sandwich from the breakfast buffet to take away (the packed breakfast alternative was not good). Staff generally very good but one grumpy member of staff at breakfast.
Used to be a nice place on the skirts of the old town of Trujillo..
As a recurrent guest can said that … The breakfast was poor for the price of 12 Euros and said that was fresh orange juice and was not. The building is needed a TLC and the smells strange .Because the holiday the price was very right
Nice building with good value rooms in a good location. The rooms were clearly the height of cutting edge design in the 1990s, which is great if you like that vibe and want a bathroom phone.
Very typical Spanish architecture and ambiance
The room was too warm and not possible to control the temperature.
4 mins walk to the plaza mayor.
Old building. Felt like no one was around. No great views
Beautiful hotel, in an old restored convent. Spacious room, very comfortable bed and an amazing lobby where once was the cloister of the convent. Very close to the main square, easy to reach the center by foot.
No parking nearby. It's a free parking area in the streets around the hotel, but no parking available. The paid parking of the hotel was very difficult to use if you have a larger car. It made us sweat to get the car in and out of the parking.
It was a good place , so clean and very quiet and the building itself is historical
Room was clean and comfortable. Staff very helpful. Beautiful cloistered area to come back to have a drink in (after an arduous day of sightseeing). Great location, 10 minute walk to main square.
The car park was not for the faint hearted but better than nothing!
location and staff brilliant. room good too
breakfast was a little underwhelming
room breakfast and bed
underground parking
I enjoyed my stay here even though it was just for one night. I was travelling by motorcycle and the underground parking (accessed from the rear of the hotel was perfect and super secure). The staff at reception were really helpful and the hotel felt generally peaceful. It was wasy to find and is pretty well located far enough away from traffic etc to be quiet but close enough to walk to the old historic area (in just 10/15 minutes or so)It was a good stay and I'd be happy to stay here again if travelling in this area.Breakfast was reasonable enough as well
Nothing at all - I'd be happy to stay there again
The room was quite spacious, breakfast was ok but limited choice
No coffee or tea making facilities in the room.Cockroaches ? at breakfast which was very unfortunate and off putting but the staff attended to the ones that were visible.Reported to the hotel after we left and their response was as follows:"We´re appreciated your message. We´re very sorry that you commented. Trujillo suffers an infestation of these insects and although the establishments fumigate them and we take measures extremely it is impossible to exterminate them. According to experts is also the americam one that is much more resistant and flies. We apologize for the inconvenience."As guests we were underwhelmed by the Hotels response and would not recommend this hotel to others wanting to stay in Trujillo
Lovely hotel very much like a parador hotel. Great Breakfast secure underground parking
The historical building is amazing and location perfect to visit Trujillo
The room have a very small window and open to the swimming pool area..a bit noise and no sun, inside room no natural light.
Location. Historical place
Breakfast not standard for a 4star hotel.
