Jo An Palace Hotel

Location was great, short walk to the old town. All staff people were nice and helpfull.

It looks like rooms are decorated for the looks, not for the practical use. Shower looks nice, but there is almost no closure.If you want to take good shower, you will flood whole bathroom. There is no shelf to put the soap or shampoo.They woudn't change little towel using under your feet. Its for whole stay. (We stayed 8 nights).The same with pool towel.Swimming pool could be cleaner, little naked kids inside the pool didn't make pool very attractive.

Great location - walking distance from all the sights, very comfortable room, clean, staff were exceptionally helpful

Its is modern, comfortable and centrallly located near the park.

The breakfast had many options and yet, it wasn't very good.

The staff were all amazing, very friendly and helpful. The room was a modern design, and breakfast was fantastic.

Although it was modern, the room was pretty badly designed. There was so much unused space that would have been useful for shelving or something. The bathroom flooded after ever shower as the ledge to keep water back was less than a centimetre tall. We tried to use the pool on the roof on our first day, and were told we’re not allowed to move the beds or umbrellas… it was 33 degrees and full sun. Just madness. There was also building work going on right outside, not fault of the hotel but something to be aware of this summer

The staff at this hotel were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The room was clean and very comfortable. We also enjoyed the delicious breakfast each morning and loved the convenient location close to major attractions. Thank you! :)

Nice staff, good facilities and very modern.

The breakfast was not great. But that’s the only bad thing, the rest was great!!

When I’m abroad I will eat fish but they even removed the tuna and there was nothing on the menu I could eat following this as I can’t eat dairy. - [ ] Fruit wasn’t fresh at breakfast - flies - not many options - changes - [ ] First room was very small, we had to request to move rooms, second was adequate which they kindly moved us to - [ ] No shelf in the shower - not much space for bathroom products at all - [ ] Didn’t change our sheets - just made beds - [ ] Shower soaked the bathroom because of poor design and poor drainage - [ ] Neither hair dryer worked properly in 2 rooms - [ ] One iron to share between all guests at the hotel

Centrally located, with a convenient pool on the top . Very friendly and professional reception.

Pool service was really slow and even basic drinks would take forever to arrive. Moreover, lower floor rooms are a bit noisy due to street below.

The hotel was in a great location to access the old town, the beaches to the east of the town and the main bus station (if you want to travel further afield).The decor was modern and had that boutique hotel feel, without having to pay a premium price. A buffet breakfast is served in the hotel restaurant and offers an excellent range of hot and cold food and beverages. The neighborhood around the hotel has some nice cafes and bars and it's only a short walk into the old town which has a good mix of shopping and eating places.

Travelling solo meant my room was smaller than average, although it had all the facilities and a centralised controller for lighting and climate control.My only complaint is that the tiled surfaces on the corridors are noisy. Late one night, I was disturbed by the footfall and wheelie case noise made by a group of travellers.

Staff is very nice, always here to help. Food is delicious and has variety, specially eggs 4-5 kinds, also cheese, sausages, vegetables and fruits. The room is very stylish and clean, has a balcony. There also comfortable swimming pool on the roof top, so you can chill there if the sea storms. The location is near the old town, centre of Rethymno. Around a lot of restaurants and shops. You can get to the beach in 15 minutes walking. Staying at the hotel was very comfortable and pleasant.

Nothing, everything was perfect

The staff here are brilliant. The reception team were very accommodating for us as we had a wedding to attend nearby. From ironing service to booking our cabs and making sure everything went smoothly. The bar staff on the roof top pool were also great and made sure we never had an empty glass. All in all great value for money and a perfect hotel for our short break to Crete.

The Jo Ann Palace has definitely had a facelift and is a very comfortable hotel to stay in. Entry to the room is via a tap /contactless key-card to a panel on the wall, which immediately gave a sense of security. A light on the external door panel shows that you are in the room, which means we never got cleaning staff knocking on our door. The beds were comfortable, there is good storage and there is a good range of television channels in various languages that service the many international customers they serve. The staff were all very friendly and efficient in every department.

The air conditioning had only one speed - full on! Otherwise it was a very comfortable stay.

Nice, modern hotel with excellent facilities and very clean. (Lobby toilets need more attention, though). Also, right in the heart of the town, within walking distance from the old port area

Lack of on-site parking. Municipality car parks refused to let us in, as there was a Market happening the following morning. The hotel staff, though, were kind enough to hold a space for us on the street in front of the hotel as soon as a spot emptied.

In an ideal location close to the old town. There were 3 singles sharing a room and the hotel kindly put an extra bed in the room rather than a sofa bed. The beds were comfortable.

The room was poorly designed with the only mirror being in the bathroom. The lighting in the bathroom is subdued and insufficient to apply make up. It would be helpful to have some hooks dotted around. The hotel gave us all a towelling robe however nowhere to hang it. Some instructions on how to use the lighting panel would be helpful. A light is needed to illuminate the panel in the night time to find the light for the bathroom. Our room wasn't cleaned for 2 days because we had not illuminated the correct indicator (who knew?). A visit to the pool area was slightly marred by music that couldn't be turned off, not conducive if you want to read. Also sorry to be so negative but there was nowhere to rinse and dry your swimwear.

The friendliness of most of the staff.

The misrepresentation of the pool area! It wasn't just for guests, but also the wider community which is not in their brochure. Therefore, guests were often queuing for sunbeds occupied by the locals! Security was therefore extremely poor, locals were expected to sign in, but many didn't and so were able to access all areas of the hotel unchallenged. In this day and age, deplorable practice! When I challenged the manager about this practice, he just shrugged it off as being of no importance! Unbelievable! I could not possibly recommend this hotel because of this gaping problem! The facilities for older guests was negligible and access to the swimming pool on the roof, would be impossible for disabled travellers, having a steep staircase with no handrail and only a ladder giving access to the pool itself! How this hotel has a 4*status is a total anomaly!
