    Cons -

    • To some people, the pool was cold to me was fine
    • No parking.
    • No parking in or near the hotel. We were upgraded to a Superior room and my adult soon had the room next door. Apart from fruit on a daily basis, a turn down service (not necessary) and a bottle of wine handed to us at the beginning of our stay, our room was no different to his. They said complimentary flowers, he had plastic flowers and so did we. On leaving, We paid the same environment taxes for him in his room as ours, apparently charged per room. And then a free gift, a ceramic fish, on our departure. Given per family and not per room. Not impressed by the piece of beach where hotel had their umbrellas. Debri in front of the umbrellas including an old safety shoe and a hat.

Excellent hotel, facilities, personnel, location at the beach and in Rethymnon, food ( all inclusive), activities, etc... The sea was great, quality of water was excellent. We will definitely come back!

Nice and clean 5 star hotel. Good breakfast, service, location and beach.

One morning we had to suddenly make a reservation for breakfast. It was not communicated properly on the day before and we were only given a paper with QR code. The service was rude because we had no reservation. I don't want to use QR codes when I'm on vacation and I don't want to install hotel apps to my phone just to make reservation for breakfast.

    Excellent breakfast & Excellent location

The extra cost for coffee pods in the room

The location was great, opposite the beach and a 10 minute walk to the old town, supermarkets, bars and restaurants all around

Not enough sunbeds at the pool, they were very spaced out and could easily have been half again, you couldn’t get a space after 9am, had to use the beach which wasn’t always my preference, only got to the pool 2 days out of 10!

Extremely helpful and polite staff. Two swimming pools are usually accessible and not overcrowded and private beach with umbrellas and deckchairs.

Unfortunately balconies have no sun protection and you cannot use them in the period of sun exposure.

Stayed a week. Had a wonderful stay. Staff always friendly and helpful. Cracking Buffet Breakfast! Literally across the road from beach where sunbeds/towels provided FOC (excl 1st 2 rows). Entertainment every night and jazz for b'fast on Sunday. Absolutely recommended. 15 minutes stroll along promenade into old town.

Very good location, right next to the beach. Close to the old city center. Hotel with 2 outdoor and 1 indoor swimming pools. Large room, with a balcony and a sea view. Comfortable, large bed. Very clean. Comfortable bathroom. A bottle of wine and a capsule coffee machine in the room were a nice addition. Very good breakfast. Very good and polite service. If I can, I will also choose this hotel next time.

Nothing. The only problem is parking spaces nearby, but that's not the hotel's fault.

    7RomainPosted on: 4-12-2024

The staff is very kind and professional. The building is class and the breakfast is very good

A problem with the temperature water off the shower. Each 10 seconds the water became very hot or very cold and it happened during 3 days of my stay. It was the same for a roommate.

    7NevillePosted on: 4-7-2024

The staff members, for the most part, were amazing and greeted us well upon arrival, and I felt very welcome. The room was large and had a sea view, as you asked, with a balcony, and the sink, toilet and shower were all independently accessible. There was a good-sized safe for valuables, including electronics like laptops/tablets. There was also a brand-new L'or coffee machine. The breakfast buffet was delicious and offered a fantastic range of treats. The proximity to the beach was unbeatable, such that guests from other hotels used sun loungers and umbrellas. March is low season so it wasn't a problem, but the staff acted on it and charged visitors a fee to ensure hotel guests were not left wanting a spot on the beach.

I was surprised to learn that it was against hotel policy to lend guests irons for "safety reasons" despite the presence of a hair dryer, coffee machine and kettle in the room, all of which pose their safety risks as electronic devices. This was the first time I'd ever encountered a no-iron policy in a hotel in the 40 countries I've visited in my time on this planet. I suspect if irons were left on in the hotel rooms in the past risking a fire, a better solution would have been to supply irons with automatic shut-off features if left unattended or inform guests ahead of time rather than have us arrive with no way to iron our shirts for business meetings the following day. There was no next-day turnaround as the only option was to pay 4 euros for a two-day shirt-iron turnaround time or purchase my own iron. Needless to say, I had to attend with a wrinkled shirt. Also, some of the outlets in the room didn't work very well. It would have also been good to have a sliding door between the room entrance/toilet/shower/sink area and the bed/sitting area for additional privacy and to dampen corridor noise at night.

It was one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. Nice and quiet. But with lovely atmosphere and gentle music into the evening and from 9.30am drifting up to our room from the bar. We could also experience the live music every night from the bar or even from our own balcony if we felt tired and like staying in our room. The entertainment was really good. The breakfast buffet was very good, so much choice of full English/ hot items with a great selection of continental and local Greek dishes and sauces and syrups to sample. There was bottomless refills of tasty sparkling wine every morning too. With an option of late breakfasts til 11am if you want to lay in.My daughter needed a gluten free and dairy free diet which they catered for well by labelling allergens clearly by each dish/dip/juice etc.In fact the detailed labelling and extensive choice of foods and quality made it so easy and fun and good value that we chose to eat dinner at the hotel most nights. I would definitely consider going all inclusive next time (if you have a big appetite) which would include all alcoholic drinks, snacks and local delicious goats milk ice cream which you are able to order from the free sun loungers at the beach which is right opposite the hotel and really clean and beautiful overlooking the old harbour and sparkling lights of the bay.The town itself was happy and buzzy even in late October, my teenager liked the shopping opportunities in the old town and I liked the old fort, churches, lighthouse and pretty streets.I can recommend booking the taxi from the airport with booking.com, it makes for the quickest, most luxury way to get straight to the hotel/airport on time and in comfort. I always use this facility and it takes the stress out of travelling (they track your flight so even when you’re an hour late they have been waiting with a name board and smile when you come through departures.

The interconnecting doors might need better soundproofing if you had moody neighbours in the next door room, which luckily we didn’t.

The hotel is in the perfect setting close to the old town and across the road from a lovely beach. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive and made you feel welcome. The breakfast was lovely with a good selection of food and was constantly being replenished. We had a spa treatment and thoroughly enjoyed that. Nothing was too much trouble for the hotel and the extras like a cold juice on the beach each morning were an example of the added extra touches.

    Nothing we didn't like.

    1AmyPosted on: 9-17-2023

The location was a great area to walk along to main strip, through to the old town.

Where do I begin…1. Unnecessarily complicated check-in process, with outdated Covid questions forcing us to repeat information we had already provided to the hotel.2. Key card worked sporadically. we had to tap the key card 6-8 times before it worked to unlock our door.3. Upselling past appropriate hours. We arrived at 22:30, after a long day of travelling and were twice approached to accept an upsold room, which would never have been worth the money.4. Marketing propaganda. Notes were slid under our door a number of times to discuss various marketing opportunities e.g. participate in a marketing campaign visiting other hotels and signing up to the Aquila Membership club. Prior to this we requested to not be pestered like this and disturb us during our holiday.5. Poor bar service at the pool. We tried multiple times to order drinks from the bar ourselves, but were told to wait to be served, which led to a 30-minute wait for one drink. After this we decided to not drink at the hotel.6. Towel reserving from guests. We headed to the pool midday on our first day of the stay. We strolled down to the pool to find 15 sunbeds reserved with towels, but with nobody occupying them. there were signs displayed prohibiting this and after we mentioned to the staff this was not resolved, forcing us to sit in the sun.7. Cleanliness of toilet. This was not up to par with a 5 star hotel and after we mentioned the bathroom was not deep cleaned before our arrival, it was made clear to us it would be the following day. Throughout our stay, the bathroom was never deep clean, which made us feel uncomfortable and disappointed.8. DVD player service as advertised. We requested a DVD player and DVD’s one night after a long day of travelling. It taken 45 minutes to get one to our room after the reception staff had to search the whole hotel for one. Once it was brought to our room, we asked to see the DVD’s…The hotel had none, assuming we had packed them in our suitcase in the year 2023.
