    Pros +

    • The room was comfortable and quiet with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains.
    • Great location, comfortable room, staff is very friendly. Loved that there is a kitchen. Everything is clean and neat
    • Not great. The information on Booking.com is misleading. The hotel to all extents and purposes was closed thus no bar or restaurant. My accommodation was in a hostel annex with shared bathroom and poorly equipped kitchen and my room could not be locked from the outside. Thankfully I only stayed one night.

    Cons -

    • On the descriptions online they forgot to mention that in winter the hotel is actually closed, so there's no staff on site, and hardly any cleaning seems to be taking place. I had booked a bed in a dorm, was luckily alone, but the experience was weird – in winter, you stay in some sort of annex – bit smelly and rather spooky. Be prepared for some old Soviet block charme!
    • The hostel has a good location and ample parking spaces but it was very dirty, damp and cold. The old windows are letting the draft in and the heating did not work. The whole room and hall has a smell of damp as if the building was left underrated with humidity coming from the bathroom. The carpets were dirty and stained. The bed - each in a different style and the atmosphere in the room was as if it was up cycling place. Not worth staying in, needs refurbishment and some love put in
    • The check in was strange. We got to the property and it was empty but there was a number to call. We called and messaged but no reply. We had nowhere to go so we camped in the car park in our van. A few hours later a guy pulled up and gave us the code to get in then he drove off. We were the only ones in the building. It was weird but we were out of the cold.

    Clean and comfortable

Close to Grimsey Ferry, staff very nice. Clean with comfortable beds.

    7CaitlynPosted on: 7-28-2024

There was only 1 bathroom (with 1 toilet and 1 shower) for 4 shared bedrooms, so that made for a lot of waiting around for anyone to shower or use the toilet since only 1 person could use either one at a time.

    8RichardPosted on: 7-24-2024

Staff was very nice and the room and bathrooms were clean.

The mattress on the bed was very broken in and the town of Dalvik had very few food options. Also, the kitchen was locked and I could not use it.

    9AnnaPosted on: 7-3-2024

It was clean and in a good location for the ferry ride to Grímsey Island and food

    5JenniferPosted on: 6-3-2024

Location near the ferry to Grimsey is best feature. Clean.

The worst place I’ve stayed in Iceland for the price. An impersonal, characterless, and comfortless hotel with an industrial, Soviet vibe. Tiny room, incredibly tiny bathroom. No coffee maker or tea kettle. Overpriced, and no breakfast included. Long dark corridors.

    10DorthePosted on: 5-18-2024

It was very quiet. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Anything we needed She was there and generous with her time.

Great location for the ferry trips. Staff was very nice and held luggage so we did not need to leave in the car. Did not have breakfast because we had to leave very early.

Need better pillows. We got in very late so unsure if we could have got one

    10NaraePosted on: 9-11-2023

Great location, cute little town, walking distance to a great whale watching tour. Very clean, kitchen had a lot of stuff to use and very carefully labeled!

The hotel is a bit dated (the part we stayed at) with creaky doors, but it was not a big issue.

    10SabinePosted on: 8-10-2023

Shared kitchen available, very nice stuff, really nice and comfortable rooms. Free tea.

    6MariaPosted on: 8-4-2023

The breakfast was elaborate and fresh. The girl who checked us in was very helpful and war.We came for the bird reserve and since that was nextdoor, the hotel was a perfect place to stay :-)

The hotel did not have much charm.

    9MichaelPosted on: 6-28-2023

The manager and staff were amazing. Went above and beyond to help us.

No lift but the staff took the luggage from me.

    9UnknownPosted on: 6-26-2023

    Location and friendly staff.

Small shower and stairs to navigate with luggage

    9MichaelPosted on: 6-21-2023

The staff from the manager to the reception staff were exceptionally helpful.

No lift , but the staff helped me with my luggage so it wasn't a problem.
