Pros +
- Teh location
- The staff were wonderful - genuinely friendly, accommodating and helpful and made us feel at home. The building itself is historic and interesting, which made for a lovely stay. Location is great. Breakfast was very good, with coffee made to order.
- Absolutely wonderful! Everything about Puerto Del Colombo is perfection. The staff could not be more helpful in travel arrangements, sightseeing, Tours, restaurant recommendations, shopping recommendations, etc.The staff is wonderful and kind. Fluent in English. The hotel is historic but well-maintained. Extremely clean, modern bathroom accommodations. Great water pressure. Daily housekeeping. Wonderful breakfast. Cappuccinos, lattes, all coffees. Fresh orange juice. Hot foods. Eggs and breakfast meats. Fresh fruit. Cereals, yogurt, etc. definitely recommend and hope to return again.
Cons -
- The furniture was dated
- The hotel has steep stairs so likely wouldn’t be suitable for someone with mobility issues. Doorframe to bathroom is low for tall people.
- No parking near the hotel. We had difficulty finding a parking spot when we arrived after dark because one of the suggested lots is dark and we couldn’t find it on Google maps by name.

Wonderful historic building in excellent location. Super staff
The room was quaint, comfortable, and spacious. It was in a quiet location. The staff was very friendly.
No parking near the hotel. We had difficulty finding a parking spot when we arrived after dark because one of the suggested lots is dark and we couldn’t find it on Google maps by name.
The room was beautiful, spotless clean, very nice facilities, and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly with all our needs and gave us excellent recommendations. Would definitely visit again next time.
Mind the stairs going to the hotel, and in the hotel. It is not a negative, on the contrary it give the building and the town its architectural beauty, but it may be a bit challenging for families with small children.
Centrally located. Right in the old port. Close to the water.
We arrived at 8 pm. By car. I tried getting close to drop off luggage. It was impossible. I left my wife in the car while I ventured on foot to see where the hotel was situated. The distance and the flood of tourists on the streets was astonishing. I couldn’t see how I would drag my luggage through the cobblestone streets through the crowds to the hotel. In the end we left our car and luggage in the car over night and walked on foot to the hotel. Once we found the hotel it was past 11 pm. Hotel staff had left. The key was left in a lock bock. This was seamless. We learned that being on the top floor ment climbing four flights , up and down every time you needed something. In the morning with the crowds gone we slowly brought our luggage back to the hotel and up the flights of stairs. The last mention is that the room was too small with very please to put toiletry and bags.
The location is perfect to be in the old town port area. The staff was very accommodating. I had two early morning tours and they packed a breakfast for me to take along on the tour. All of the staff was terrific from directions and restaurant recommendations to arrange for a taxi for to and from the hotel. I definitely recommend and if I return to Chania this is where I would stay. As an FYI no elevator but I believe that is the norm for this area of town. 10 +++ rating. Charming and authentic. Superb Greek hospitality.
Nothing. The fact that I had to leave.
We were greeted by a beautiful lady Roula who made us feel at home and treated us like family. Flora who also was another staff member always went above and beyond to help us just like Roula. The staff made our stay the best and the owners of this property should be very proud of the excellent service these ladies provide as it would not be the same without Roula and Flora. Roula was so warm and helpful and we actually thought Roula was the owner. Roula helped us organise excursions and packed us a breakfast box to take to our excursion. Roula advised of best travel options which were always economical and in our best interests. Flora always provided wonderful referrals of best places to eat which always exceeded our expectations. It was definately the staff that made our stay with Porto Del Colombo exceptional. The beautiful old building gave us a very good experience felt very homely and location was the best only steps into old town. Thank you wonderful ladies for making our stay one to be remembered forever.
Everything was just perfect nothing to dislike
Beautiful building in historic center yet quiet
i like the antique of the hotel , you feel liking in an old movie..Very good beds and have very good rooms
Excellent location Helpful and friendly staff Amazing breakfast
Rooms kind of dark
Location right down in the city center and nicely decorated hotel. The room was stunning and decorated in colonial style. The breakfast room is similarly nicely furnished. The breakfast buffet is adequate and the staff was very friendly.
The room comprised of two (small) single beds pushed together.
We enjoyed our stay there. Great location, wonderful staff, cosy hotel and great energy ❤️
In the heart of the old town. Great staff. Historic building
No elevator. Dragging bags up sixty steps is no fun. No car access to hotel/—have to transport bags yourself. Rooms are small.
Every single thing. The place was amazingly well located and the staff were super warm. A big thank you to Rula and Flora for the hospitality the showered upon us. Made us feel like family visiting after a long time. Our stay in Chania was amazing and in a large part thanks to the place we stayed in.
Nothing. Loved it all.
Would definitely recommend this hotel. The staff, in particular, were welcoming and overall wonderful. They could not have done more for us. They even provided a packed breakfast for us in respect of an early start to a guided tour.
At 71 years of age, the only issue we had was climbing three flights of stairs each day after walking a considerable amount during each day; naturally, this would not be a problem for anyone younger. However, the wonderful features of this historic building far outweighed the lack of modern features such as a lift.
We loved the location. Chania is very walkable and this was tucked in a nice quiet spot away from tourists, but truly only a minute or so from the action. The hosts were so helpful. We took several restaurant recommendations that were incredible. The breakfast assortment was a huge selling point and was always fresh. Having walked the entire area, we were so happy we booked this location.
I honestly can think of nothing. We loved it.
I loved the exceptional location, the high ceiling fully renovated rooms with modern bathrooms and shower. The breakfast was amazing . The rooms were extremely clean. But I can’t praise enough the staff and their warm hospitality. Mrs. Argyro is a gem . Such a warm and kind hearted person . She made us feel at home. Mrs. Flora was the sweetest and most helpful host . They both went above and beyond to make sure our stay was not just comfortable, but truly memorable. Whether it was offering helpful local tips, assisting with special requests, or simply greeting us with genuine smiles each day, their hospitality made all the difference. It’s rare to find such a combination of professionalism and heartfelt care!! We couldn’t be happier with our stay in Chania and can’t wait to return.
Everything was perfect!
The staff were extremely helpful and considerate. They gave us gifts for my wife’s birthday on their own initiative. So nice!Location in the old town is excellent with view of the harbour from the bedroom window but also very quiet at night.
The shower room is rather small
