Pros +
- This is a quaint, quiet hotel in the midst of nature. The rooms are very clean and cozy. The included, comprehensive breakfast was a great touch, too!
- The dinner was fabulous! Breakfast had limited options, but the chef offered to make us scrambled eggs. About a ten minute drive to Hvitserkur, a remarkable natural rock formation in the sea; well worth the bumpy ride, but be careful going down the hill into the parking area.
- The staff was able to helped us with the problems we encountered.
Cons -
- This was really a hostel, not a hotel. Not especially clean, and no fridge, no facial tissues, no storage areas, no sitting areas, no television, all items that someone might expect in a room that cost over $300 for one night. Fortunately for us, we had reserved one of the two rooms with a private bath and didn't have to share with strangers. Breakfast had limited choices. Perhaps most disappointing was the lack of information that this facility is over a nine kilometer drive on a poorly maintained gravel road. We ate at the hotel because it is at least 35 kilometers and a half hour one way trip to any dining options.
- Heat was not working, the facilities were not a hotel, the bathroom didn’t have soup. One staff member had a very bad attitude.
- Shower curtain clung to me. A few bugs in room. Facility looks abandoned, we almost left without going to try the door.

Breakfast was good, eggs made for us. Only two other guests, so very quiet. Glad it was open - looked abandoned.
Shower curtain clung to me. A few bugs in room. Facility looks abandoned, we almost left without going to try the door.
Basic but unique hotel that gives you access to a beautiful, remote area north Iceland, near excellent seal watching. We stayed in a room with a private bath with a nice view of a horse paddock. Shower had great water pressure. Definitely a quirky vibe to the facility (building used to be a boarding school), but our room was clean and comfortable. The dinner and breakfast were solid.
Bed was creaky.
The inside was clean however and breakfast was good. The inside rooms need some pics or decorations to make it not look so institutional.
The outside needs some serious exterior upgrades.
I was interested to photograph the rock. The nearest hotel was booked and this was the 2nd close to it. No problem to reach it from hotel by car.The stuff was helpful and nice
We were given -1 floor and it had unpleasant smell. The road to reach the hotel is in bad shape (country road style). The car become absolutely covered with mad when we reached the hotel
Excellent location for those visiting Hvítserkur or the nearby seal beach.
The hallways and room smelled a bit of mold or mildew. It appears they had a burst water issue at some point. The shower was very small with a dysfunctional shower curtain that would stick to you throughout your shower.
Great breakfastGood hostNice quiet stay
A little bit old fashioned bathroom, but does the job
decent breakfast, loved the offer of freshly scrambled eggs
silence, chilly in the dining room for dinner
Exceptional location and staff. Calm. Restaurant with excellent meal.
A very clever young couple took a schoolhouse and turned it into a hotel in a quiet corner of Iceland - it is easy to see that they are working hard and it was a pleasure to stay and help them on their journey. The accommodations are clean and comfortable, they made some nice design/updates throughout, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. It is not perfect as some reviewers have pointed out but we are glad we drove the gravel road and we would stay again!
It was a lovely location just off Highway 1 and close to Hvitserjur attraction. The mountains and horse farm next door were beautiful The food, especially breakfast and the coffee were wonderful..
Room and common areas were very cold. Needed a bath mat as the bathroom was very small and when showering it splashed all over floor. No one wants wet socks and we only had so many towels for personal use.
Great location on our way to the Hvitserkur. Nice and friendly staff, they let us to check in earlier. Delicious dinner.
WiFi was not good, although it was essential for us. The beds were uncomfortable and made noise when you move. Breakfast served a little bit late than 7am.
The property was clean. Easy to find, easy check in.
Nothing to complain about. It was near the sightseeing area. Doesn’t have all lot of food options especially for Vegans because is a little far from the town.
The checkin was smooth and the dinner was good! The horses wandered up just outside the window of the dining room while we had tea both at night and in the morning.
It looks like it could be an abandoned building a bit from the outside. The doors are very difficult to lock and unlock. It is far down a dirt road.
Location close to the rock
Outside of the building looks little questionable and sharable bathrooms situation is little loud.
clean and comfortable, very good complimentary breakfast
rooms are very basic and small but comfortable
The location can't be better. You see the ocean, horses, green fields. The is a common area for tea, billiard gameGoog value for the money
Clean facilities , friendly staff, good food, fantastic view!
