    Pros +

    • Fantastic Manager of the hotel, Mr Samuel, who made the accommodation and care for guests extremely restful and pleasant. I travel frequently across many countries and continents for work, and he was the best, most competent hotel manager I have ever encountered in my 20 years of professional career.
    • This is an exceptional value for what you get. The hotel is very nice with a very comfortable bed. The sauna/spa area is incredible with views of the mountains. The half board that’s included was very good food.
    • The hotel has a truly unique location on a mountain, above the clouds. The rooms are spacious, modern, very bright, and offer stunning views of the lake, the city, and the surrounding mountains. Dinner and breakfast were included in the stay. Dinner was hearty and delicious, with a starter, main course, salad, and dessert, and there was also the option to order extra food. The staff were very welcoming. Parking is available for an additional fee, both covered and uncovered. Even though we booked a room without a lake or city view, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to a room overlooking the lake. We also received a discount for our next stay, which was a very nice bonus. From the hotel, there are many hiking trails starting right at the doorstep. During dinner, we also witnessed a lovely gesture from the staff as they congratulated a guest on their birthday with a complimentary treat

    Cons -

    • There was nothing to dislike about the hotel or the staff who work there.
    • The wellness facilities are only available until 7 PM, which felt a bit too early. Also, the navigation inside the hotel is not very intuitive — it took us quite a while to find the reception.
    • No cafe, restaurant and spa has very limited time to operate , no tea coffee facilities at the rooms

A truly beautiful hotel located on top of the Zell am See mountain, accessible only by cable car. The journey up is an experience in itself, and once you reach the top, the views are absolutely breathtaking—360° of mountains all around. Breakfast was very good, the staff were amazing, and even in August the weather was perfect. I’d love to return in winter to experience it in a completely different atmosphere.

That said, there are a few things worth mentioning. Dinner could have more halal/vegetarian options. The last cable car is at 4 PM, which means you must plan carefully—after that, there isn’t much to do at the hotel in the evening. Rooms would really benefit from having a refrigerator, and it was a surprise to be charged for parking at checkout, as this wasn’t mentioned beforehand. It would also be helpful to have a small store on-site for essentials, since reception closes around 5 PM and there’s no one available later in the evening.

This was a once in a lifetime trip for my family. Absolutely amazing. Ski in ski out, nude saunas, amazing meals, breakfast buffets, 1st runs every day, party vibe until 4.30pm. It was absolutely brilliant. The room 309 was the bees knees. Amazing lighting, the view, comfy beds and super modern facilities. Would have liked a kettle as hot water was hard to find for a cup of tea.

The information on what the kids could eat at dinner would have been helpful. There were not any kids options at the amazing 5 course chef prepared dinner. Us adults were in heaven but the kids were not that impressed. We ended up feeding them up more at lunch so they wouldn't be so hungry at dinner.

Spectacular location on the top of the Schmittenhöhe. Excellent, modern room with fantastic views. Superb food. And best of all the staff who were so professional and welcoming. I cannot recommend highly enough.

Tea/coffee facility in rooms would be nice to have.

    - Customer service from staff (Cooks, reception, and bar staff- Location (stunning views, and accessible to ski lifts and slopes)- Food quality - Apres Ski (Very friendly environment, super inviting)

    10CarlssonPosted on: 3-1-2025

Fantastic hotel at the top of the mountain - 360 views over the Alps and untouched ski slopes in the mornings as you can ski before the lifts open. Super friendly and customer oriented staff across the board - can strongly recommend it.

I wanted to thank you for a wonderful stay at Berghotel Schmittenhóhe. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was very well run, the rooms and bathrooms were very clean and tidy. There was a real family atmosphere during the evening dinners. I would especially like to thank Mr. Dominik and Mr. Senad from the restaurant serviceGreetings from Krakow,

Location and views are stunning. The food was fair to good quality catering for those with the half board option and B&B alike. Staff are friendly and cleanliness is second to none.Breakfast options are excellent.

The Spa facility was good enough in terms of Steam & Sauna. Was disappointed that the wasn't a Jacuzzi / Hot tub. There is a small cold pool only.Could have been more food options for those paying extra. The 'A la carte' menu is limited and service of this can be extremely slow.Coffee/Tea facility would be good as there is no option (other than bring your own kettle etc) before 8am.
