Alva Valley Hotel

Lovely new property with wonderful staff. It was super having a restaurant at the hotel after a long day of exploring the area. Special thanks to Paula for taking great care of our group.

Large room with large comfy bed. Good facilities in the room. The products in the bathroom are environmentally-oriented.Breakfast was plentiful and good. There is an on-site restaurant for dinner and bar. Note that dinner needs to be ordered in advance at the reception. Dinner was quite goodThere is plenty of parking in front of the hotel and near it. It was very quiet when we stayed in the hotel.

It seems that we arrived at the off-season (September), and therefore there was somewhat of a skeletal staff, so service was somewhat slow at the reception. The hotel is located at the bottom of a very winding hill road. Driving to and from the hotel on it, can be a bit tricky, especially at night.

The hotel is clean, modern and the room was huge with a private large balcony. The staff was super friendly and it is located near a small supermarket and has a great access to the Alva river.

We have stayed at this hotel many times. It is the only hotel we stay at when we drive through this area. This is such an upscale boutique hotel at an extremely reasonable cost, in a quiet, scenic river setting. The rooms and beds are comfortable and 5 star. We love that even as upscale as this hotel is, they are dog friendly! The balconies are beautiful..I highly recommend the deluxe balcony. The breakfast is amazing, fresh fruits, fresh orange juice, delicious homebaked pastries. The best part of the hotel is the staff. The personal attention they give the guests is another main reason why we keep coming back.

Very clean. Great breakfasts, good evening meals. The staff were without exception, really welcoming and helpful. We could not fault the hotel.

Stuff is very friendly and with our pets it was really comfortable and pleasant. Room is clean and dry and warm and cosy.

The owner wants to make everyone feel comfortable, and goes above and beyond to make sure of it. Rooms are clean and fully equipped. Located with a lot of nature around and interesting places to visit in the nearby Dão valley. We stayed for a night while passing through and it was perfect!

Outstanding service, ideal location, great breakfast. Convenient adjacent parking. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to stay in this area.

Very friendly and attentive staff, nice breakfast and a great place to relax. Nice view too.

Really friendly staff and clean, upscale accommodations. I love that they are dog friendly and were really welcoming to our dogs. We stayed in one of the rooms with the large balconies and that was very open and spacious. The breakfast is amazing. Lots of praia fluvials in that area and some really nice nature trails. Visit the local market next door for some treats or the campisimo across the street on the river.

The lighting in the room is weak, WiFi is very weak in the rooms. Disabled shower without a curtain

The hotel is small and convenient. The staff is nice and helpful. Breakfast was very generous. Served to the table with good variety.

The room for 3 was small. Basically a double room with an added cot. This should be stated more clearly. There are very few eating options in the area, so we opted to eat at the hotel. Dinner was ok, but a bit over priced with small portions

Extra friendly staff. Good breakfast. Overall, staff went out of their way to tell you about attractions close by and interact with you.

The breakfast is incredible - by far one of the best we have ever encountered. It's served at the table, once you are seated, and it has all the staples of a continetnal breakfast plus a few extras which really make a difference, namely a few sweets and savoury treats made right there. The friendliness and politeness of the staff also left a mark, as they were so welcoming and warm. The room itself is nice and comfortable - but the breakfast experience really made a difference. The ladies even offered us some cookies for the road as we were checking out!

The access to the hotel is not the best, as Google Maps can take you there via a very steep and narrow street which is truly awful to drive through. There is a longer way around, which we would definitely recommend. This is not the hotel's fault naturally, but it hurt the experience somewhat.

Everything was perfect!Hotel was contemporary and comfortable with nice decor.Very clean, the service was great and the bed was very comfortable.The breakfast was excellent and it was served very nicely , fresh squeezed orange juice , eggs made to order, , fresh fruit, etc,everything delicious.

Beautiful property, very comfortable, great and attentive staff. The food was wonderful too. Best breakfast we’ve had in Portugal so far. Truly delicious!

The one thing I wish were different is the need to schedule a dinner and a breakfast time. Because we are on vacation, I prefer not to have to plan anything. That said, it was all worthy it.

We absolutely loved our stay at Alva ❤️This is more like a 4/5 star hotel. You get a lot for the current price! We started off with a room upgrade including a king size bed and a huge terrace. The rooms were spotless and extremely clean. The cleaning ladies came everyday.Loved the location as well, we came with a car so having a free parking spot included was super useful!The breakfast is amazing! They serve you your individual charcuterie board, all products are of high quality and it was more than enough. We couldn’t finish all of it!I love that they ensure that all products are sustainable and of high quality! The best of all are definitely the people that work there. We had very nice chats with Javier, the manager and the receptionist. We felt at home at the very first day ❤️Thank you and we will be back soon! ?

Great breakfast! Charming staff willing to learn how to make desired cocktails. For our king-bed room there was a huge balcony the allowed us to dry laundry.

It’s no fault of the hotel - but we got bad instructions from the car’s GPS and found ourselves on a one-lane, twisting, hairpin turned road to get down into the valley. Another route was available but we didn’t get directed to use it. Nowhere else to eat except at the hotel , and then only a third of the menu was available.
