Schönbühl Hotel & Restaurant Lake Thun

We loved the location and the view. The staff were really friendly.

It would have been nice to have a fridge as we had a baby and storing food for her would have been helpful. We didn't like that every day when room service came we did not get any more towels, no refills on glasses or bottled water. We kept having to go downstairs and ask for more.

Beautiful location with scenic views of Lake Thun and the alps; large comfortable room; good breakfast; free parking and very responsive and friendly staff. The garden looked lovely but the season to enjoy it was over.

The property is “quaint” and a bit dated. The restaurant menu was limited to “fine dining”.

We were allowed to check in early at 1 PM. We booked a double room, but we received a junior suite. It was much bigger than expected. It had both a shower and a bathtub. The view from the balcony was amazing. The breakfast was great; it had everything we needed. The services were worthy of 4 stars rather than 3 stars.

Absolutely awesome staff. They made the experience fantastic. Property isn't directly on the lake but it has an incredible lake view, a beautiful garden, the restaurant is fantastic, my wife and I were more than thrilled. I was there for the Ironman race and the staff opened up breakfast for all the athletes at 4:30am! Incredible touch.

The old hotel has lots of characters. Spacious room with an incredible view. Staff are very friendly. The breakfast room is bright and clean with a fantastic view.

The breakfast doesn’t have enough varieties.

Breakfast was incredible - such a beautiful view, excellent staff, and the food was really delicious. The views of the lake were amazing and access to the bus line was so easy! The free bus pass will take you all the way into Interlachen or just a few minutes to Thun in the other direction.

It was impossible to sleep in the room with the summer heat - there was a summer heat wave, but the room seemed to retain heat even after the rain and it was really unbearable - it felt like we were unable to cool the room even with the balcony door open all night. The room decor and bathroom is a bit dated and parking was a challenge at times (with the restaurant guests also using the parking), but everyone is really nice and the location is wonderful.

It is a little far form the lake especially if you have to carry many bags uphill in the sunlight. It was summer and the rooms didn’t event had a fan, and an iron in the room is a must in every hotel.

Two single beds that came apart in the middle which made cuddling up with partner difficult.Thin duvet and pillow - no extra blankets.No coffee/tea facilities in room.Charged for drinking water in room.Plug in bathroom sink kept getting stuck. Interior of hotel looked tired and dated.

The breakfast was a little disappointing and the room dated but clean and comfy.

I think it could do with a little revamp.

The location of the facility is very good, the view from the room was super.

The building is very old and the rooms are poorly maintained. The bed was very uncomfortable and it was a shame that there wasn't even a kettle in the room.

Pillows were a bit uncomfortable but that's common for me.

The hotel has a great location a beautiful terrace. We have been to the restaurant a number of times in the past and this time spent the weekend there. I do not think one can find many faults with the location, just gorgeous. It is also uncomplicated to arrive by car, there is onsite parking. The restaurant is well situated and they have quite good food. People are friendly and the hotel/rooms are very clean.

We stayed in a junior suite, which essentially is a large space that does not really have much amenities. There is no kettle or coffee machine (they have a shared 'maxi bar' at one floor where you can get a coffee for 3CHF). The room is large but somehow it is just empty, and not a large liveable space which is a pity. Service personnel is friendly and try to be helpful, but for the price you could expect a bit more, i.e. making sure that dietary requirements are met (someone that has a Celiac disease and can not have wheat during the main course, is not suddenly going to get cured for the desert). But overall it was a good experience.

Location is amazing , lake view is refreshing when you wake up. Car park is very convenient. Hotel is located in very nice and pleasant area.
