Pros +
- An intimate, beautifully located hotel. You can feel the history of the place. We stayed in the old palace. Very good breakfast, fresh products, delicious coffee. Large parking lot. Great value for money.
- Nice old manor style house in lovely order with nice garden. We stayed in the annex which is a modern building. Rooms were good size with good facilities. The locality is quiet with one local bar. We took the evening meal for E25 which included a free 1hr bar.
- Extremely helpful staff Hotel looks great, very well adapted actual castle
Cons -
- Getting there is a bit of a hassle with road works blocking the only way in. Luckily the staff guided us via a "locals only" route.
- Room was very hot without AC, no window in the bathroom with just moderate light, located in a separate apartment building next to the hotel. Room was dated, carpet worn, so not sure if old or new stains. Breakfast was simple, cheese and cold cuts right from the package (you could still see the packing marks). You have to book a slot for breakfast, and one would assume the breakfast is ready by then, but we had to wait for eggs for about 30 mins, and the girls in the kitchen didn't really seem to bother when people asked about eggs. Coffee machine was either broken or ran out of coffee beans, so just hot water with a hint of coffee flavour.

Travelling with a dog, access was easy and lots of green areas around for walks, internet working well. Staff at reception was friendly, but had to wait for 20 min for them to show up, despite ringing the bell. Pretty little village, nice surroundings.

After a long drive we were looking forward to a good meal. €19 for the buffet was not a bad price.Parking was on-site and to the rear of the new build.Room was fine but no wifi at all.Bed very comfortable.Breakfast arrangements were --> choose between 07:45 and 08:45, or 09:00 - 10:00. Food was OK. Views from the balcony were nice.

We had a reservation
Old property, poorly lit, uncomfortbale beds, we got a room on the top floor with a slanting room over the bathroom - super inconvenient, no elevator.
Sauna is a great feature!
On arrival our booked room was not available nor was our booking found in their system. As a result instead of spending a night in the castle we got a room in a soviet style concrete side building.Average service and breakfast were quite good but reservation handling was poor.
We enjoyed an Easter gateway, and the stay was great for a short trip. The hotel is in a great location to explore surrounding villages by car/train/walking. The breakfast was good (typical German buffet) and the sauna was a great addition. The staff was friendly and accommodating.
The room was basic but sufficient. The beds and linen could be more comfortable.
Loved staying in this old building. Staff helpful and friendly. Nice breakfast
Was disappointed with the evening meal. The goulash was awful. I had the same meal in another hotel of the same chain and it was delicious.
Bad
We feel scammed. Terrible service. The call center they have was not able to give us any proper information. We wanted to have late check-in, but it was impossible to reach the hotel. We booked the room in a castle, instead we received an economy room in a hostel next to the castle because it was overbooked!!!! And when I tried to cancle the reserved they did not accept it! How can it be? They charged us for the Junior Suit and we slept in the budget hotel next to it. Terrible. Never again.
Ample breakfast with possibility to sit outisde on the upper balcony terrace; room was large and very quiet - with a full bathtub - very welcome
Internet signal was weak and unreliable from the HS hotel part; service personnel were not always available at reception causing delays in check in/out
location
arrived at the reception… empty :( waited 10 minutes, went about to look for someone, got to the kitchen and a rude girl takes me to the reception. I was actually shout at coz I asked her 3 times to repeat a word I didn’t understand (Dreibettzimmer) as she spoke dialect. Very rude!don’t expect a castle as it doesn’t have the charme of a castle… not even a mansion. old furniture, dusty carpets, small rooms. breakfast is very basic and split into two turn of 1h each. you skip your turn, you skip your breakfast.never again :(
poor Wi-Fi

The carpets in our room needs cleaning!
Hotel Schloss Nebra is yet to find a fair balance between its ambitions and its capabilities.
