Pros +
- Excellent location on Queen's Promenade with bus service nearby. The hotel's L'Experience restaurant provides delicious French-inspired cuisine including world famous onion soup.
- Location. Very close to Aura a wonderful asian restaurant and chinese restaurant nearby. Also Queens pub (hotel ?) nearby with excellent Guinness
- Hotel and room was very comfortable, staff very attentive, great location on the promenade
Cons -
- the in-house restaurant is called l'experience. It certainly was a very bad one. Nice food but delay of 90 minutes between starter and main being served. Asked to see manager and a no more than 18 year old girl arrived. No satisfactory explanation
- Lack of parking although parking on the promenade was fine
- Lack of bath soap. Failture to include breakfast in room price.

Hotel and room was very comfortable, staff very attentive, great location on the promenade

This was a charming hotel, conventiently and scenically located on the town's promenade and facing the sea. It gave the impression of a heritage property. Breakfasts were disappointing--not included with the room price, expensive, and not offering any particularly interesting selections. Dinners were also expensive. The ambience was a bit creepy as it was very quiet, meaning if you conversed, you felt like everyone could hear you. Our room, however, was large and comfortable, with windows facing the promenade and sea. Beds were comfortable. I wish they had provided soap for bathing. Bus stops are very close by, and the electric railway station is within a short walk. If I sound negative, it is despite the fact that I enjoyed my stay very much and would stay again.
Lack of bath soap. Failture to include breakfast in room price.
I was allocated a large sea view room which I wasn't expecting but was very welcome as was the reception I received from the hotel Staff. Had a small mishap when the shower curtain fell on me whilst I was showering but no damage was done.ad an superb meal in Le Experience Restaurant in the evening and at breakfast the following morning.
The Lift is very small and old fashioned. Shower Curtain needs to be more substantial.
Cosy and welcoming, good service. I did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the cuisine
I would have appreciated a seaward-facing room but am accustomed as a solo traveller to being given a rather cramped room at the back of hotels
Exceptionally clean hotel throughout. Friendly staff and fabulous location
Perfect
The room and ensuite were a great size. The bathroom and bedroom facilities were excellent. The bed was extremely comfortable, able to enjoy a good sleep ?. Breakfast was very good, and well cooked. All the staff were very professional, and made us feel very welcome
Not enough teabags and milk in the room. Maybe there could be smart televisions in the rooms
The regency is an old style boutique hotel. The staff are great, really friendly and helpful. Small comfortable bar and a made to order breakfast. It's at the far end of the prom from the sea terminal so a bit of a stroll to get into the centre of things so if you're not a walker maybe not for you.
Nothing, all great.
We liked the location and the friendly helpful front reception staff
We found the breakfast poor quality.
Good breakfast choice. Sea front location
A bit far from the centre
The staff were very friendly and helpful
I booked two rooms, one a superior double. It was a nice room but it had a smell of drains. It was also very dark. The second room was extremely dark with one window tucked away behind the tv and cabinet. It was also very warm with no air con
Food was good
Bedroom didn’t have air conditioning and it was very hot
Friendly, relaxing, clean and location
Quaint, clean and nice staff
Some of the hotel is a bit tired and the breakfast isn't great
Great size room and bathroom
The breakfast was awful. Minimal choice of cereal which seemed like it had been their for days. No soya or almond milk. Bacon was really hard, eggs had no taste and sausage under cooked. Also kettle in the room looks like it has seen better days!
Great location.
Poky room which was described as “deluxe” I think the hotel needs to think about its definition of deluxe. On reflection, when “heating” is listed as one of the features of the room it’s not going to be great. The room was a poky, hot, stuffy tribute to the 1980s. The tiny window was barely accessible as it was in a corner behind the tv unit. Lack of natural ventilation is a concern as the tiny window opens onto a flat roof with condensers on it throwing warm air into the window. The staff were not welcoming, almost awkward on arrival and I was not even greeted or asked if everything was ok with my stay on checking out. The reception guy just said my key was all he needed.
Breakfast fine. Location : bit far from 'centre' However good bus service AND the horse tram made up for.Fresh milk available for the tea.
Perhaps another biscuit , or two.
Good location, decent sized room, friendly staff
Room was far too hot.
I had a fabulous stay with a couple of friends. The staff were friendly and very obliging. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was super all in all a very enjoyable experience, would highly recommend it.
My friends and I had a couple of evening meals here. One in the bar and one in the restaurant on both occasions we had a very lengthy wait on the food being served.
