    Pros +

    • We ordered dinner there both nights. It was truly excellent. Hat's off to the chef. The place had an enjoyable rustic charm. We also tried out the swimming pool which was at a pleasant temperature.
    • This was a very cute and quaint boutique hotel with a strong sense of history and nice amenities. Located in the countryside, right between two smaller towns, it has some stunning views of fields and trees. You can even see donkeys and horses. The rooms were nicely sized, and it felt almost like you were staying in a room at a chateau. I loved that they had a pool, hot tub, and sauna (with showers and changing rooms in the pool area). Additionally, it was nice that they had complimentary breakfast as well as complimentary tea/coffee until 7:00 PM. The garden/patio in the back was very cute and inviting. They had a soap factory museum (though it was closed) and a soap store on-site, which I thought was super cute. They also had a small chapel, which was unique and beautiful. The free parking was a nice bonus! The staff was very friendly. Check-in and check-out were seamless. It was within driving distance of several wineries, Abbeys, chateaus, and museums.
    • Staff, room, breakfast, location, surroundings, facilities, spa, everything!

    Cons -

    • It's not in a town. A little far out. However, the restaurant is so good, you don't need to find another place.
    • If you are visiting the Loire Valley for the first time, this location is certainly not as lively or centrally located as other areas (Tours, Amboise, Saumur, etc.). That said, it was a beautiful and peaceful retreat within driving distance of several interesting attractions. I did not realize that the on-site dinner restaurant would be closed on the two nights we booked. Additionally, some of the restaurants nearby were closed on those nights, too. This is worth looking into, depending on the days you plan on visiting. My only complaint about the facilities was that the hot tub was not very hot.
    • Use of the spa was welcome but was cut short rather abruptly.

Comfortable, tranquil, elegant grand farmhouse stay

Use of the spa was welcome but was cut short rather abruptly.

Beautiful traditional French property Lovely big room with traditional features and great shower. Gorgeous grounds, swimming pool and beautiful shop. Didn’t use the restaurant but looked good!

Breakfast is 16 euro a head which is expensive we felt although very nice. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room

Beautiful location and architecture, good breakfast.

Difficult for late arrivals, room was not at a 3 star hotel level, more like an average B&B: doors and floors are not sound proof, bad smells, no kettle, no TV.

Everything!! A lovely warm welcome to start. Beautiful room stylishly decorated. Fantastic indoor pool. Excellent breakfast. Can’t rate it all highly enough.

    Nothing. It was great

    The pool

No help with luggage despite being in our 70’s and having to climb rickety stairs to our room. Not allowed to even park nearer. The room was not made up properly on any of the 3 days we were there and was in a poor state. Stained carpet and curtains hanging badly, It was supposed to be a no -smoking property (allergy to smoking) and we had to run the gauntlet of about 6 staff smoking on the stairs that let up to our room. We were over-charged at dinner and on check out leading to an undignified and embarrassing discussion on both occasions.

We've stayed here several times over many years. We love the setting, the buildings, the family involvement over more than one generation. It has evolved over the years, but remains personal and unspoilt.

Breakfast ingredients were fine, but the arrangements were a little disorganised.

    8AndrewPosted on: 9-21-2024

    French ambience. Character of buildings.

Our "Insole" (unusual) room number 10 was in the roof space accessed by 38 steep stairs and with limited headroom and uneven floor to the landing. The room itself was dark with one small window. I bumped my head twice. The description states "staircase " access but be aware of the above and that you will be in the old servants quarters if you are in rooms 9 or 10.

The full location is beautiful, great rooms, very good breakfast and good restaurant. The welcome is very family way since you feel comfortable.

If you stay more than 3 days the menu at the restaurant is always the same even if is really good.

From the moment you arrive to the second you leave you just can’t wait for the return visit. 5 star hotel

Nothing , wouldn’t change anything , friendly greeting , excellent food always, charming service, pool always clean , rooms clean and smell beautiful of soap made on the premises.

Atmosphere (building and staff)brillant pool, quality of the bed, excellent restaurant and breakfast food.

    10JanetPosted on: 7-9-2024

Our third visit. Loved the historic atmosphere the quaint rooms, the tiny mediaeval chapel and the fact the house has been in the same family for more than 200 years. A good restaurant too.

    It was all good.

This beautiful property is an oasis of calm and yet is just a short drive to the banks of the Loire and the lovely villages of Montsoreau and Fontvraud. Welcoming and helpful staff. Beautiful and good value onsite restaurant. Spa pool a bonus. Large and quiet rooms, no TV, no Radio, but good enough WiFi for your streaming needs.
