- After being in major tourist cities in Italy, Venice, Rome and the cities of the amalfi coast, we were happy to receive respite in the hills of Tuscany at Relais La Costa! My favorite feature of this property is the physical building and location. The building is restored with timeless charm and rustic luxury with the most breathtaking views ever changing as the sun and clouds work in tandem and solo to cast their beauty upon the land below. The land of the sun rise is different than sunset and throughout the day. Gorgeous! It cannot be described in words. One must experience it. The staff are excellent as well! Morris (not his formal name) what he told me to call him, works in the courtyard and dining. He is there and prepares and serves breakfast and dinner for us. I’m not sure if he does other things, certainly I’m sure…..but he was always available throughout our mornings and afternoons and evenings to provide excellent customer service. For example, fresh brewed coffee in the morning, spritz in the afternoon with snacks and 4 course dinners. He is a genius in the kitchen! Just let them cook for you! Don’t alter the menu! Many ingredients are grown on the property! And everything else is sourced locally and truly the freshest most delicious meals I had the opportunity to enjoy in Italy! Relais La Costa gets our number 1 vote for comfort, luxury, excellent service, food and wine for our entire 2 week trek throughout Italy! Thank you, we will be back!

- The things I didn’t like had nothing to do with this property.
- The road leading to the property was a little narrow— not great if you have a big vehicle
- Not as accessible for people with disabilities.

Our family of four stayed at the residence for 7 nights. It absolutely lived up to our expectations - a beautiful property with lots of history. The focus of our trip was cycling, so it was the perfect spot for a home base with multiple cycling routes through the beautiful Tuscan countryside. We especially loved the challenging gravel climb to the residence to end our rides each day. The staff were wonderful, always pleasant and accommodating, the property was very clean and the grounds beautiful. The views from the property are breathtaking!
Nice location near Siena, nice facilities in general, good breakfast. Had very good dinner with wine tasting.
The maintenance could be better for certain small things, the approach is challenging , especially in fog, it is 8 minutes by car from the main road. In general, in pictures it looks more beautiful and fancy.
Very quiet and peaceful place. Very good food and excellent staff
Road nearest the property is not good.
Was happy to leave
Expect to drive a very long, pothole bumpy dirt mountain to get to property. Over priced and made out to be more spectacular than it was. Lot of stairs ... help with luggage and smiles when arriving - you're on your own when leaving.
Beautiful, historical residence, restored to breathtaking beauty. In a magnificent location to many other beautiful historical towns and breathtaking countryside.Staff were warm, friendly extremely helpful and professional.entrance is via a very winding gravel road which can be difficult to navigate but well worth it.Highly recommend this place.
I am a bit on the fence about this property, it is absolutely beautiful and the setting is lovely but it is very remote and tough to reach (dirt road at the end for quite a bit). Unfortunately we were unlucky with the weather so couldn’t enjoy the facilities. It is beautiful and the staff are very nice. The food was simple but perfectly prepared - dinner was delicious.
As mentioned, you need a car to stay here and it is at least a half hour from any towns. The spa is private which is nice but a bit pricey at 80 Euro an hour. I also didn’t like that they charged extra to order eggs at breakfast.
A beautifully renovated old stone ‘post office’. It is located on a hill in a rural area - very peaceful. You do need your own vehicle to get there. The breakfast was great. We had an evening meal there and it was lovely. The hosts were very attentive and helpful. Nice place to chill out if you want a day out from touring but also handy to tourist spots eg Siena.
The shower was very tiny
Beautiful location in Tuscany, very old and very well restored and maintained. The rooms were extra spacious, and we had a suite with double bedroom and bathroom - very luxurious. The pool had a beautiful view, the breakfast was lovely, as was the staff. There was the right combination of privacy and helpfulness. We had dinner one night, and it was romantic and delicious. Unfortunately, we did not have time to use the spa, but it looked delightful. Next time!
It was all good, honestly.
To reach the place its quite an adventure but when you are there the view makes it worth it. How ever you can't reach the place without a car. The pool is nice even though the sunbeds had no mattress.
Where should I start. And let me tell you, they did not refund any money even though the cleaning was only done every second day. We could not have any lunch even though that was one of the announced services. The internet was not working one day and they have not been able to fix it until we left. The one day we had sun in the morning they missed drying the chairs outside so we could not enjoy our coffee in the sun. The picture of the rooms are quite misleading. The furniture does not fit to each other at all and it looks like they just thrown old things together. The service was very slow even though the young lady was nice. We had a room near the pool and even though during the night the pumps where of... they started very early in the morning so sleeping in in the morning with open window was not an option. Our friends left after 2 nights since they where fed up with the place, and they did not respond to my email regarding the issues I have.
We had a great 4 night stay in the residence with the family. It has an original Tuscany charm, with a lot of greenary and big pool. Food was exceptional, we can also recommend the cooking class with the chef Mikaela. It was so much fun! Staff is very friendly and helpful, rooms are spacious and clean. We can all recommend.
Absolutely beautiful property, kind and attentive staff. Very remote and tranquil location. Would absolutely come back.
Air conditioning couldn't keep up with the July heat.
Excellent host (Stefano) and manager (Margherita)Spacious bedroom with separate living roomBeautifully restored building and peaceful location
Small bathroom and shower with limited space for toiletriesMore diverse dinner menu
breakfast and dinner were exaptional- the best we had in italy.the staff was perfect- warm welcoming and had a lot of recomandations of what we could do each day in tuscany even for the days we had diffrent accomedation
location was a bit far-but good for people that like neture isolation
We had an incredible stay! 10/10 would recommend if you want a cute, authentic and beautiful Tuscan spa stay. The residence has an incredible story behind it & being walked through the property by the director was a great touch. The staff were accommodating and friendly and the chef Francesca delivers authentic, healthy and hands down some of best food we had through out Italy. The views from the villa are spectacular. From the pool it’s like looking at postcard- booking.com photos don’t do it justice. The rooms are beautiful and cosy and we received an upgrade which really took our stay to the next level. The breakfast / dinner rooms are stunning with warmer days being hosted outside by candle light. We specifically booked this place for the spa and massage facilities and although it’s $$ we felt it was worth it.
We loved everything about the property and it was exactly what we were after. However, please note that if you don’t have a hire car the property is a good 20mins outside Siena and there as isn’t any shops or things to visit within walking distance. For us this was perfect as we wanted to completely relax and just soak up the Tuscan hills and use the spa facilities. This can make things costly when it comes to food and drink however, so come prepared for this. Additionally the spa pool tiles could use a little tlc and the spa showers needed a little extra pressure.
We stayed with friends for one night. everything was great! nothing to complain about. great dinner, hospitable hosts, clean, nice and cozy! Thank you!
Beautiful place. Good food. Good massage. Good view.
The spa was noisy so it was difficult to relax. Putting some relaxing music would have been better.. One of the two beds is a couch-bed, not very comfortable. In a room for 4 people there were only two chairs and a small couch. The TV is not a smart tv. A breakfast cake was not cooked enough, but the cook told me to eat it like it is.
Relais is nicely located with exceptional views on the surroundings including Siena. Some of the to-go-to places in Tuscany are located within driving distance near the resort. It is a place where you can truly relax.
This was the most expensive stop during our round-trip of Tuscany. For this high fee, we would have expected some things to be better/different:- This was the only location where ordering a sunny side up egg came with an extra charge of EUR 6. For this fee, that should be included in the price;- The hotel room came with a jacuzzi, but the water temperature was not high enough. We needed to add water from the water boiler to bring it to comfortable temperature;- For a relais of this price level you would not expect to smell weed damps from some members of personnel throughout the day.To respond to the resort response:- It is not the fact that the surcharge at breakfast came as a surprise. It is the fact that the surcharge exists at all, given the high rate for the hotel room- When the water in the jacuzzi was cold we dropped by at the hotel office, but that was closed in the evening.
