About

Hotel Monteriggioni is set in the heart of Chianti, in the walled medieval town of Monteriggioni. It features a large garden with a swimming pool and olive trees. Monteriggioni shines from the top of a hill with its stone crown. One of the oldest, most memorable and recognizable villages in all of Italy. A true mirage for those who want to dove into the Middle Ages, the Tuscan poet Dante Alighieri used the turrets of Monteriggioni to evoke the sight of the ring of giants encircling the Infernal abyss. Each guest room has a unique design. They all come with air conditioning and TV with local channels. Breakfast is included and can be enjoyed out in the garden in warm weather. The Monteriggioni Romantik Hotel also features a bar. There is also a private car park. There are 4 characteristic restaurants right in front of the hotel where you can sample Tuscan cuisine. Due to being in an old medieval village, Wifi Connection is not very fast. Siena is a 20-minute drive away.

    Pros +

    • We had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The location is perfect, and the room was very comfortable and clean. They have private parking, so it’s ideal as you don’t have to park in public parking, which means you have to walk quite a bit. The receptionist was extremely helpful and accommodating, even finding us a room before check-in time. Additionally, the hotel's proximity to excellent restaurants was a huge plus. We were just a few steps away from some great dining options. Overall, a wonderful experience, and we'd recommend this hotel.
    • Great staff. Very accommodating. Easy parking but do not trust Google maps to get you into the ZTL. You really do drive through that little arch on the South end...once the hotel has the plate number and has called in the ZTL pass.
    • Location was fantastic- inside the walled fortress. Tastefully decorated.Breakfast was very good

    Cons -

    • More instruction from Booking.com for the ZTL would have been useful.
    • It was disappointing to have no internet in the room- It would be helpful to have an earlier breakfast seating for guests that need to leave earlier
    • More shopping.

Wonderful staff and a beautiful property. The location is one of a kind and a perfect place to relax after a day of traveling through Tuscany. Special shout out to Erik, the concierge who was always helpful.

If you really want to experience the historical Monteriggioni, this hotel should be the one. It is located inside the wall of the castle which has only 570 meter wide in the main square. When you drive into the gate of the castle, the sunset shining on you makes you feel the magic moment. One of the most important reasons is that the size is relatively smaller compared to other old castles and towns. You really feel the peace and beauty. This is very unique experience compared to staying at a five-star castle hotel:)

We had a large first floor room. It was perfect for our needs. The breakfast was equal to the best we have had in Italy and much better than most . The location has several very good restaurants within steps of the hotel. The restaurants offer a variety of local specialties as well as some new approaches to Tuscan food. Great wine options. The staff was very nice and helpful. Would highly recommend spending a few days just to relax and enjoy the location.

    More shopping.

Swimming pool, not heated, but great after walking the Via Francigena. General ambiance of hotel, it felt classy. Eating breakfast in the garden/courtyard. Staff were friendly and helpful

    Shower was tiny

Amazing location of this hotel in medieval castle. Private Parking lot. Pleasant staff. Erik and Ludovica were very pleasant and very helpful. Breakfast is nice.

The fact that we were not allowed to sit in the lobby or back garden past 23:00-24:00. We were asked to go back to room even though we were sitting quietly in the lobby as didn’t want to be in bed.

Breakfast was simple but good. Hotel has a terrific location with great next door restaurants and friendly staff. Even a little bar.

    More light in room

Really wonderful staff. Family-owned and family-run establishment. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Very clean rooms. Very comfortable. Staff: we were walking the Via Francigena, and wanted to depart early, before dawn. The host was super accommodating and also got up early, and offered us coffee, etc. Definitely one of the two best places we stayed in during our 3 weeks.

Hotel and premises well looked after and managed. Staff were exceptional. Ask Francesca anything and she will give you the right advice. Breakfast excellent with homemade dishes that were scrumptiously delicious.

Very comfortable room, delightful garden, and very attentive staff.

    10PetraPosted on: 10-8-2023

Everything was nice. Perfect service at the reception. Nice and helpful. Beautiful setting in the middle of the castle.

A unique place, with a wonderful, personal service and a beautiful garden in Monteriggioni. A good base in Monteriggioni for trips to Siena and the towns and villages close by. We recommend Ristorante Le torri in Monteriggioni, reservation ahead recommended (when weather allows, ask for table in front of the restaurant with view to the towns Piazza. We also went to see Verrazano winery (app 45min by car), the wine & food experience they offer (booking online available) is recommendable, great tour, good wine, great food in a very nice setting. Also for a drink or a glass of wine and some cheese/meat platter go to Pit Stop 17, around the corner.

Monterrigioni is a small and the owners have made the most out of the available space but with some limitations, a pool is there, but not for swimming ;-)

Location is excellent, easy parking with great directions sent in advance. Staff all lovely and keen to make sure everything is to your satisfaction.

    Nothing!

We’d first seen this hotel 16 years ago and I’d always wanted to stay there. We stayed for 4 nights, it was clean, staff very helpful, perfect location. The pool was lovely and refreshing and quiet. Local restaurants all lovely. Good continental breakfast. Lovely view from our room.

Nothing at all, really minor issue hairdryer in bathroom wasn’t great but fine as I’ve only got short hair! The spa by the pool wasn’t in use and just needs cleaning and setting up for the summer - didn’t cause us any issues at all

Absolutely stunning location, very nice small hotel with personal touch and design in an old marvellous building and a beautiful tranquil garden. We enjoyed our stay very much, the staff was very warm and friendly. We had an excellent dinner at the restaurant opposite to the hotel and the breakfast at the hotel terrace was very nice as well. We really enjoyed our stay and we‘ll definitely come back during our next visit to Tuscany!

    Everything was perfect for us.

A charming hotel with friendly and efficient staff. We used the pool in the back garden and lounged in the shade of the olive trees. The staff were most accommodating and they served a generous breakfast.

considering what we paid, the room could've been a little more spacious
