Pros +
- So elegant for the price and star point. In every aspect the Octant Lousa exceeded my expectations. Will look to stay at Octant when we are next in Portugal.
- Palácio da Lousa is a beautiful property with comfortable rooms and a very good , easily accessible parking space. The front desk staff was exceptional in helping out with a medical situation that occurred during our stay.
- The breakfast at this hotel was outstanding, lots of variety and very high level of quality in everything. This was a historic building which had a new wing. We were placed in the new wing and so the room was very modern and very comfortable if perhaps less old world charming than I imagine the rooms in the old building perhaps were. There is a pool in the sort of basement spa which was very attractive and heated to normal pool temp. There is a sauna. There is a cold bath for those who like that. No jacuzzi. There is a very nice parking lot behind the hotel. We ate dinner at the hotel also and it was delicious. The staff was pleasant and accomodating in answering all our questions and the day we left actually gave us free water and snacks. The location was perfect as we could walk to the Schist village of Talasnal from the hotel.
Cons -
- The restaurant food (that we had) wasn’t that great.
- the room was in the front and noisy the staff should have locate us in more quiet room if its possible of course.
- Ground floor room we were originally given was grim and dark and needed updating. The mountain road and lands near to Xisto village of Candela were devastated by fire in Aug 2025 so the drive up is pretty terrifying and hiking not very pleasant up there.

Beautiful restored palace with lovely design and detail. We had a premium deluxe room (2nd floor), spacious and comfortable. Wonderful breakfast buffet in the pretty restaurant, with smiling staff. Front desk staff were delightful especially Vanessa and Tiago. Pool and sauna were relaxing and quiet. Hiked along nearby paper mill trail up to castle/chapel and back (return trip involved multiple crossings of river, jumping stones and wading through knee deep water, so go back the way you arrived at castle if this doesn’t appeal). Nearby QB and Villa Lausana restaurants were excellent.

This hotel was incredible from the moment we walked in to the moment we left! It is beautiful, clean and staff are very welcoming and kind. The breakfast is included and the spread was amazing. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and stay here again.
Mattress felt uncomfortable.
Everything! Staff were very attentive and helpful. Restaurant very good. Original historic lounges and public spaces. Great large swimming pool.Large private parking.
As usual the property is well located, well decorated and has amazing facilities.
The breakfast is wonderful. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is lovely. It’s very pet friendly.
Stayed twice here, lovely staff, beautiful old building, and wonderful facilities. The food was great and the services appropriate to its rating. The outside pool was wonderful. Open all day and all night... made for a wonderful late night and early morning swimming.
The carpets in the room were a little dirty.
We were surprised with the room prepared for our little girl, which helped a lot during the stay. Room was comfortable, food was good, and both pools are great, especially if you have kids. The whole staff was super helpful and nice.
Sound isolation isn't great in the rooms. Nothing to point out aside from that.
Very friendly staff, got a room upgrade and some nice extras for our child. Overall children friendly, good swimming pool, a beautiful panoramic restaurant and common areas. Great buffet breakfast.
Some more lounge chairs in the garden would be handy.
Fantastic again, my 5th trip to Lousã to enjoy this wonderful place. First time I could enjoy the pool, I usually travel off season. Booked this time with a large group. The staff was wonderful in coordinating our rooms, needs and a special dinner.
Everything was fabulous
Beautiful and comfortable rooms, beautiful historical property, great amenities, thoughtful touches, delicious breakfast, very quiet
Nothing! Everything was great!
The history, the facilities, nice spa. Most favourite part was the beautiful sitting rooms, so nice to relax in during the evening with coffee etc. Breakfast was very nice, parking very easy once you know the way.The staff were great, special mention to Joao Brasio and Lucas for their hospitality ?
Thought it was all excellent.
The welcome at reception was lovely. The room was comfortable and spacious. There was a lovely welcome note with complimentary biscuits. Tea and coffee-making facilities were a bonus. We had a lovely walk around Lousa.
Breakfast was excellent
Overpriced and outdated property that needed more maintenance and cleaning
Spa area and pool were lovely. Room was lovely----could leave more than one teabag in the room. Nespresso is a nice extra . It is definitely the best hotel in town
In the restaurant a self service hot and cold milk area would be nice instead of asking the staff----especially if they are busy.
Very nice staff and happy to help, possibility to rent bicycles, small but nice heated pool, excellent breakfast
The outside part with the pool is very neglected, which is a shame because the place has better potential.
Historic place, friendly and service minded staff. Nice living rooms.
Not well maintained rooms and exterior Cold spa, bad room service experience, inappropriate and cumbersome WhatsApp service, mediocre breakfast,
