Pros +
- We had booked two single rooms because a room with two beds at the time of booking was not available. When we arrived we asked if there was anything available with two beds and the very helpful and wonderful desk person said she could move us into a two-bedroom suite for the same price as the two small single rooms. It was a wonderful room with a view of the lake. The breakfast was great as was the dinner.
- Absolutely fantastic very special hotel situated right on the lake shore with breathtaking view, authentic design - you feel like you step into museum, amazing atmosphere, I would call it “boutique” hotel. Fortunately we got the same room where once the younger brother of the Austrian emperor Franz Joseph I stayed! Great staff, kind, friendly and helpful! Delicious breakfast offering even sparkling wine! We enjoyed sauna and steam bath following lake swim as well. Highly recommended!
- Perfect spot if you like castle hotel... at beautiful location with nice surroundings and lake view
Cons -
- Everything was wonderful--robe and slippers in the room, great staff, wonderful breakfast that came with the room.
- Unfortunately jacuzzi (whirlpool) was out of service (may be due to off-season)
- breakfast could be better, but it was okay.

location and sauna were great.
breakfast could be better, but it was okay.
Super restaurant and top location close to the lake.
1st. We have booked a Suite with a direct view on the lake, but we have been given Room 63 with no Direct Lake view since our room had a side partial lake view.2nd. The living room of the suite was freezing. We had to close the door between the living room and the bedroom in order to sleep.3rd. Our room was not part of the main building.....that means we had to cross the small street for breakfast and dinner....and the sauna/spa is also located outside of the hotel. The hotel did not meet our expectations. Nothing special except the location. The restaurant was perfect and Darko helped us a lot!!!!!
Very helpful staff, nice location with a good view of the lake, good breakfast for vegetarians, comfy bed
the walls were thin and there was a couple in a room above us who had dogs. They were running around all night and barking, and we could hear loud creaking. we were lucky to get 2h sleep. this experience ruined our trip. we paid good money to sleep in a hotel, not to be kept aware by rude guests. the least the hotel can do is give rooms on the ground floor to anyone with pets when they know their floors and walls are well below acceptable standards
Location on the lake is beautiful. Comfortable bed. Nice breakfast options. Lounge/bar area. Dinner at the restaurant.
Hotel room felt a bit dated/worn. Our room was very small, and we didn’t feel the value for the price we paid. Restaurant servers were not at the same quality as the excellent food.
A beautiful historic villa, elegantly decorated, superb lakeside location with garden. Very good breakfast and dinner.
Service a little slow in restaurant.
The location right on the lake is breathtaking. It’s very quiet and peaceful. The early morning plunges before breakfast were delightful. Our bedroom was very comfortable. The restaurant is delicious. The breakfast (by the lake) offers many options. The entire vibe of the hotel is incredible: you feel like in a spa retreat the 1800s, with perfect good taste. Special mention for the free paddle boards and sauna. We were sorry to leave and hope to come back!
This hotel was exceptional, the location was amazing right on the lake with the most spectacular views. The breakfast was lovely right by the water and the staff friendly. This place exceeds all expectations and I would definitely recommend it and stay here again myself.
Parking was sometimes an issue as in the evenings it is really busy with the resturant but it didn't ruin the experience at all.
A beautiful in an amazing location, great food and very comfortable
The staff whilst friendly badly need to be trained and it made for a bad dining experience
Boutique style intimate hotel with old world charm. Busy restaurant clearly popular with locals for a nice meal out. Pleasant and comprehensive breakfast. Attentive family owners constantly there to oversee service. Fantastic waterfront lakeside location. Good base for exploring the area.
I very much enjoyed the location and friendly, but professional, stuff.
I was disappointed when finding out that facility couldn't provide the charging for EV. That goes somehow on fraud fashion because out of official web site photographs I was expecting that service! It suffices to say that charging my car was one of priorities while choosing the place for vacation. My information on site told me that both chargers were out of use for a longer period of time, anyway during my whole stay. Anyway, I didn't recognise any enthusiasm towards solving the situation. In such circumstances the service of EV charging should be either removed from list of services (photographs) or repaired swiftly within a day of malfunction report.
The location was superb. Right beside beautiful Millstattersee. The hotel had real character and the staff were friendly and eager to please. But what was the star for me was dining beside the vestigial lake in the terrace as the sun went down-magical.
The place is really beautiful. The hotel is nice and we felt comfortable there. Breakfast was really good, my daughter was happy with the jam selection
A little bit too much for a dog’s stay - 25€No air conditioning, it was a little bit too warm even the day was not hot.
The location, the property itself with its history, very nice staff, darko the waitress (I think it’s his name) :) very nice and friendly and very good food!!!
We had the room which was much better than we got because they gave us accidently dently other room and on the day we left I looked in the room which was supposed to be ours and was so much nicer ☺️
This bed was so comfortable, I didn't want to leave the room. However, the lake is so beautiful you have to leave the room. I missed my friend, the bed, when I was away though, haha! The restaurant 1884 is also very good, with such excellent service!
Nothing, loved it!
The house had its own beachfront which was nice.
I especially asked for vegan options for breakfast but except for soy milk there was nothing else provided. Bread with jam with fruits was the only option for me.
This was one of the most enjoyable stays I ever had in any hotel anywhere. This place is just charming. The place is built directly on the bank of the lake, at the end of a small street. There’s a free parking lot next to it. We had three rooms for our large party, one in the main building on the lake and two in the inner building across the tiny street. All of them were excellent, spacious and comfortable. Much of the day we spent on the hotel grass beach by the lake which is fantastic. The entire hotel has an old, imperial age feel to it. We had breakfast at the restaurant again right on the lake which is also really good. Staff was very helpful.
Everything was perfect. A piece of advice - during high season if you want to eat dinner in nearby restaurants, including that of the hotel, it makes sense to reserve.
Location
Too many mosquitoes. Ground floor rooms (6+7) with windows that open onto the street (lots of noise and the cigarette smoke from people outside was almost unbearable).
