    Pros +

    • Beautifully restored 16th century building; grounds were well maintained, staff was courteous and friendly. A most enjoyable experience
    • Nice building. Good location, in the middle of vineyard. The indoor pool and outdoor pool are nice. The view from the room / balcony is great. The view from other places in the hotel was great too (restaurant, pool). The architecture of the building is very interesting.Dinner in the restaurant is great.Staff was kind.
    • I loved the warm & amazing staff of the hotel. The facilities are very good, the restaurant fantastic and the view is gorgeous. Very happy we went there.

    Cons -

    • The staff was kind, but you could tell the staff was overwhelmed by the amount of work. An extra staff member would have improved the experience.Breakfast was subpar. It closes at 10:30. Once we arrived at 10:00 and lots of items were already gone restricting once choice severely. The gym is not well equiped. There is a double cable machine but proper handles are missing. Hence, you couldn’t really use it. This is very unfortunate as these handles are very cheap to replace. The jacuzzi is nice, but we couldn’t get the jet mode working properly. One of the two saunas was closed.Water was cut off (very shortly) twice during the morning.
    • Unfortunately, the only thing missing was the connection through booking chat, as we asked a question a day before going and they didn't get back to us.
    • A bit far of you don’t have your own car, but the hotel is happy to help with taxis

Amazons views, great facilities. Lovely pool area.

A bit far of you don’t have your own car, but the hotel is happy to help with taxis

First and foremost, your beautiful establishment and grounds and the incredible views! In addition, the staff was very accommodating and friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious - from the charcuterie board when we arrived to our dinner in the dining room as well as the incredible breakfast buffet! This was our third time staying in your hotel and, hopefully, not the last!!

    Can’t think of anything

    Superb location, exceptional scenery

coffee machine/ kettle in the room is needed Dinner mediocre and expensive for what we are given.

The location, the view, the room

the facilities in itself, the pools were great

the cleaning wasn't on par with a 5 star hotel, the spa was absolutely mid

    10LiviaPosted on: 8-14-2024

Rooms are super comfortable, the staff is very nice, and the view is superb. The location is perfect to explore the valley during the day, and be back still in time to enjoy the pool in the afternoon.

Nothing about the hotel or the facilities in specific, but we considered the price of the restaurant a bit high for what was been offered.

The view, the pool, the breakfast and the dinner. I recommend more fore people they stay all day at the hotel.

A bit too far from everything.

Beautiful property with lovely rooms. Enjoyed a beer by the pool after a days cycling, watch out for the hill up to the hotel ! Very nice dinner too

When you’re cycling the hill up to the hotel is a tough finish to the day !!

    Relaxing clean new spot.

Poor communication (reply to phone calls or messages)

Beautiful views overlooking the Douro, modern style rooms and great facilities such as pool, Turkish steam room, sauna and hot tube. Loved the atmosphere and style of the hotel as well as the connection with the winery.

Rooms we stayed in showed a little wear and tear and needed more detail regarding requirements for swim caps and slippers in pool and sauna areas

Well located in a quiet vineyard surrounding the building mix with class old and new facilities

The restaurant is too expensive for the value and we did not get explanation (but also did not asked for) on how it was billed (no carte as such but a full package. In the rooms located in the old building the bath tube is directly located in the room with no separation.

The views were beautiful and we loved walking through a vineyard. The food was delicious. It was relaxing.

Google Maps failed us. It was very hard for us to get there. The narrow roads and fast drivers were intimidating. There was no where to go unless you drove… the pretty little town right beside the resort didn’t even have a coffee shop.

Great location with a 360 view over Douro Valley (near Peso da Régua). Both Peso da Régua and Mesão Frio are 15 min away by car.The rooms have a nice view and comfortable. The breakfast is good and has good variety.

We decided to have lunch at the restaurant of the hotel... We ordered a Salmon Salad to share as starter and 2 chicken wraps. We were the first customers of the day, and had to wait 50 minutes dor the salad. The Salmon salad wouldn't have more than 30g of Salmon - not acceptable. We complained about the protein portion but we were mostly ignored. After finishing the salad, the chicken wraps arrived... 60g maximum of chicken - wrap with lettuce and chicken and that's it. Our lunch took almost 2h and payed 43€ for ridiculous portions of protein and 2 cokes. The number of chairs at the pool is quite low when the hotel is crowded, and when it happens, the grass is not an option and it's always soaking wet... I believe that despite the potential, this hotel lacks a manager that focus on customer experience.

    Location, mountain view.

The location of the shower/bathtub and the pool wasn’t working the first day. Indoor pool required bathing caps and we were not aware or offered any free of charge as the outdoor pool was not available as advertised.

    Breakfast, staff, conditions, spa

Parking lot was almost full, and should be covered.

This hotel is a pleasant spot to relax and take in the scenery.

The level of cleanliness was not up to par during my stay at the hotel. I found the breakfast disappointing and the Turkish bath and sauna were not very impressive. In my opinion, this hotel would be more fitting for a 4-star rating rather than a 5-star.

    8JoaoPosted on: 7-24-2023

Beautiful location and surroundings. Great for couples and romantic getaways. Breakfast was good.

Not a 5-star hotel. More like 4-star. A few minor details were missing to be a 5-star. Nothing annoying, but the small flaws can’t happen at a 5-star.
